It's a standalone - I'm not really much of a series writer!

Two answers, equally true:
1) Absolutely not, the book was always conceived as a standalone and I think it works better that way. I personally prefer reading standalones to series and so I tend not to plan sequels!
2) But I do have about six thousand words of what is probably an Avi-centric novella set in the same universe. It's on the back burner for the time being, while I work on something new.

The duology is officially complete! I feel good about where I left Tobias and Silver's story and their relationship (they're happy!) and if I ever return to the Greenhollow universe - seems unlikely at the moment, but you never know - the story would be focused on different characters.

Hello! I’m so happy you enjoy my writing!
DROWNED COUNTRY, the second book in the Greenhollow Duology, is out on August 18th. (so soon! I can’t believe it’s so soon now!) It’s about vampire hunting and Fairyland and lost landscapes and rising sea levels and how much of a melodramatic idiot Henry Silver can be, and Publisher’s Weekly gave it a starred review. If you want to do an author a favour, you can preorder it now! (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...)
After that... well, the next thing I’m working on is still SFF but decidedly not historical fantasy. I’m hoping at least some of my readers will stick with me for the ride :)

Hi Rebeca! Nope, definitely not MM. I can't say more than that at the moment :)

Hi Nicholas! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. I am definitely thinking of more folkore-inspired books - and yes, fairies will make an appearance.
One book I really enjoyed reading for inspiration was 'The Making of the British Landscape' by Nicholas Crane, especially the early chapters dealing with the landscape of the prehistoric British Isles.

(view spoiler)[Hi Emily! Thank you so much for writing Silver in the Wood. I loved it! I was just slightly confused at what happened at the end. *Spoilers* Was Henry now the Wild Man of the wood? Even though the old magic/the Old Oak in Greenhallow Wood was destroyed? Does that mean Henry is now immortal while Tobias is going to age and die? That’s really sad for them. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Hi Cal! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book. You're absolutely right, that's what happened; and you're absolutely right, it's not entirely a happy ending... (hide spoiler)]

Thank you very much! I don't think I'm officially allowed to answer this one yet? But if you were hoping to learn more about the characters from Silver in the Wood... you may be in luck. Wait and see.

Just finished the Greenhollow duology. For what it's worth, I could easily read ten thousand more pages of Greenhollow stories. It's so rare to find stories where the magic feels truly old and the characters are so vivid.

The answer is '18-something-something'! It's more of a fantasyland setting than a real historical one, so I grabbed stuff from all over - early rail travel is 1840s, but the townscape Tobias experiences near the end is straight out of Austen. I think I was reading Persuasion when I wrote it, and that was published in 1817! And Silver's expensive coat and Mrs Silver's pearl-handled pistol both feel Regency to me, which is even earlier. The 'four hundred years ago' setting of Tobias's past is equally vaguely mediaeval-to-Tudorish without getting worried about precise historical details. Time is something pretty fluid for Tobias anyway.
