My all time favourite has always been Alistair, The Duke of Avon and Leonie, from The Old Shades.
The reasons are varied. Firstly, it was one of the first romances I read in my teens and it left a lasting impression and a love of the Georgian era, including the Regency. Secondly, I have always been a sucker for cross-dressing females and Leon/Leonie does it so well. Thirdly is that quintessential wounded hero in need of reform, the Duke. Sigh. What more could any girl want?
The excellence of the writing swept me away to another world at a time in my life when I was pretty lonely. Perhaps it is this last that makes this couple endure for me. Not only were they characters in a book, I lived their lives with them. They were my friends.

Michelle, good question, thank you for asking. Regency romances were the first ones I read and I was drawn to the romance of a world with lords and ladies, rakes and bluestocking, horses and carriages, balls and long gowns. It is also an era that seems accessible to the modern reader, not so far from today that we can't understand the mores and the society rules. It is also on the cusp of great change, the industrial revolution, so there is lots going on in discovery and science to give a writer ideas for stories.

Captured Countess leads on from Haunted by the Earl's Touch, and both protagonists appear in that book. It was quite obvious to me that they did not like each other on sight. Or did they? I just had to find out. Captured Countess will be out in Print November 19 and as an e-book on December 1.

Write anything, even if I know it isn't working, because something will trigger a good idea. Sometimes I take a shower. Those positive ions can help.

Sharing the stories in my head with others and hopefully bringing them into my world for a few magical hours.

Write, finish you first book, write another book, take workshops and classes and read books on craft. Then submit. And while you are waiting, write another book. If you have more detailed and specific questions I would be happy to try to address them.

I am working on two things. A follow-up to the book coming out in December, The Captured Countess. Its working title is Daring the Duke and it will be part of a new series which at the moment is called Dissolute Dukes. I am currently working on establishing who the characters are, what they want and why. It is always an exciting moment.

Writingn is something I do everyday, I usually like to sit and think for a while, it can be before I start, or at some other point in the day, when I am working on something like filling the dishwasher or walking the dog. Once the sense plays out in my head, then I like to sit down and write it.
