Sandy Williams Wow. It's so hard to see questions on Goodreads! I know this is three years old (so, so, sorry about that!), but the answer is yes. lol I've written three books in a new urban fantasy series. The fourth should be out this summer.

I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed the Shadow Reader and Anomaly books. I want to get back to the anomaly world--I have some great stories floating in my head--but I have to focus on the next book in my current series. One day, I'll be able to write two books at once!

Again, I'm sorry for taking forever to reply. I had a notice in my inbox of a question about my next book, so I came here looking for it and found your question instead. Now I have no idea where the other question is. *face palm*

Sandy
Sandy Williams Hi Sonja,
So glad you've enjoyed Kennedy's series so far! I haven't announced a release date yet. I'm going to wait until the book is off to the editors, which I expect to happen sometime this summer. My guess is it will be in the fall, but if it's late fall, I'll push it back to January 2025. I know that sounds so far away! But I also want to release book 5 relatively soon after book 4 because, if everything turns out the way I think it will, there may kind of sort of be a cliff hanger-ish type of thing at the end of book 4.
Thanks for reaching out! I'm writing as fast as I can (which isn't super fast because I think a lot on each sentence, paragraph, scene, etc. lol).

Sandy Williams Hi Jaime, I'm so so sorry I missed your question! I've swear I've answered questions on Goodreads within the last year, so I'm not sure how yours was missed.
I'm so happy to hear you love the Anomaly novels! I'm totally insecure about them, lol. As for the third book, I'm praying it's out before the end of this year. I know that's a terrible answer, but I'm finishing up edits on a new urban fantasy book. After that, I'm rededicating myself to the third anomaly novel. It's just been super, super difficult to write. I know the story, but getting to words to match what's in my head is taking a ton of rewrites.
Thanks so much for reading! And, again, so sorry about not replying sooner.
Sandy Williams I'm so, so sorry I missed this question! I swear Goodreads hides messages from me sometimes.
Thanks for the question about Lena. And poor Trev, but no, Lena never had romantic feelings for him. She never knew he loved her, and he knew that she wouldn't. It's why he never pursued her, only protected her. :-(
Sandy Williams Hi! I'm praying this year! I'm really, really sorry for the way too long wait. The story is being difficult. I'm finishing up edits on a new urban fantasy series, but after that, I'm redicating myself to Shades of Allegiance. I'm so ready for everyone to read the next book!
Thanks so much for reading!
Sandy Williams Hi Susie! Sorry for my super delayed response. I just updated my blog with the reason why I've been so silent lately, but I'm back and should have the next Aren POV for you soon. Sounds like you might like reading from his POV a bit. :-)
Sandy Williams I wish I had a good answer for you, but right now, my publisher has no plans to make or sell the audio rights to the second book. I've tried to buy back my rights so I can hire a narrator and produce it myself, but no luck so far. It's disappointing. :-(
Sandy Williams Hi Joyce! Sorry for my delayed response. I need to figure out how to get Goodreads to send me an alert when I have new questions. Anyway, so glad you're enjoying Shades of Honor. I'm currently working on Anomaly #3 and hope to have it out sometime in 2017. I know that's a super vague response, but I'm still learning how long it takes me to write a book. I'm getting a little faster with each book but I don't want to set a hard deadline until I have the first draft finished. Thanks for your question! And if you want a few recs for SFR to read in the meantime, Michelle Diener's Dark Horse series is amazing, as well as Rachel Bach's series, and anything by Linnea Sinclair. :-)
Sandy Williams Hi Mai. So happy you enjoyed the books! I'm not entirely sure if I'll write Kyol's POV. I'm enjoying writing Aren's, so it's a definite maybe. I love Kyol so much and it would be cool to see things from his POV!
Sandy Williams Hi Cristina,
First, yikes! I'm so sorry I haven't answered your question here. It somehow slipped my notice these past seven months. Is it possible you asked me this question via Facebook or email too? It sounds familiar.
Anyway, my answer is that I would love to write another book. I have the plot and a few major scenes in my head and will one day get them down on paper, but I'm not sure when that will be. I'm focusing on the Anomaly novels right now, and after that, a new urban fantasy series. I'm hoping some day I'll have time to squeeze in another shadow reader story! I love Kyol too. So. Much!
Sandy
Sandy Williams Hi Joyce,
I'm so happy you loved Shades of Treason (and the Shadow Reader books :-) ! The sequel is finished except for a little bit of tweaking and copy edits. I'd planned to have it out this summer, but with my five-year-old twins home with me full time, I've had to take a writing break. But they start Kindergarten in another week and a half! So I expect I'll have an official release date announcement within the next month. I expect it to be out sometime in September or October at the latest.
Thanks for the question!
Sandy
Sandy Williams Hi Vinaya,
Oh, wow! You've just made my day. It's so awesome to hear you've enjoyed Shades enough to read it three times! Yay! You are so going to love the next book. It will be out this summer, most likely early July. I'll probably have the exact date by the end of March. And hopefully the cover and summary within the next month or two! In the meantime, have you read Linnea Sinclair or Rachel Bach's books? They write my all-time favorite sci-fi romance books. Definitely worth reading (and rereading! lol).
Thanks for the question!
Sandy
Sandy Williams Hi, Nevada,
I sure hope so! Writing this book was hard and weird. It's a very, very bad idea to write a story about a person who is unable to leave a boring room. lol But Ash is definitely NOT in a cell in the next book, which should let me explore the universe, the Coalition, and her friends, enemies, and acquaintances much better.:-)

Sandy

P.S. Also, I'm so sorry for the delayed response! I was in the hospital for three days at the beginning of the month and we're currently moving, so it's been a freaking crazy month. I'm just now starting to catch up on emails. Hope you're doing well!
Sandy Williams Hi!
Yes, the sequel to Shades of Treason will feature Ash and Rip. They have an... interesting relationship to explore. And lots of issues. lol But I do have plans to write stand alone stories featuring other characters, some whom we've met and some awesome, new anomalies. :-)

Thanks for reading!
Sandy
Sandy Williams My cover artist for the Shadow Reader books is Gene Mollica (www.genemollica.com), who does fantastic original artwork.

For Shades of Treason, I went with Damonza (http://damonza.com/). They do quick and very professional work.

I've been really lucky with covers. :-)
Sandy Williams Glad you were wanting more. :-) Short answer is no. I'd originally written The Shadow Reader as a stand alone book because I'd written other books before that one that were intended to be the first of series, and I was always disappointed when I didn't get an agent or sell to a publisher because I really wanted to write the sequels. Thus, I made sure I wouldn't be disappointed after I submitted The Shadow Reader.
Of course, then it sold, and I let all the other ideas I'd reserved for the story line flow. I planned to end it in three books because I love trilogies.
But there is a lot more I can do in the world. I know what happens after the events in The Sharpest Blade. It's sooooo tempting to write about them. :-)
Sandy Williams I love Lorn. He snuck up on me, too, halfway through writing The Shadow Reader. He was a completely unplanned character who I can't get enough of. I'd love to write more about him. If he's still alive. :-) (Knowing him, he probably is.)

As for why Kelia used Lorn to get back at Naito? Well, that goes into some backstory. I'm working on a novella about how Kelia and Naito met. Not sure when I'll have it complete because I have a few other projects to complete first.

I know this response is very vague. Sorry about that!
Sandy Williams Hi Rachael, I'm sorry I didn't see this question sooner. The answer is probably not. I wish I could get them made, but my publisher owns the audio rights and the sells of the first haven't been good enough to trigger an audiobook company to buy the rights to publish it. There's always a chance sales good suddenly soar, of course, but it's unlikely. Very sorry! I wish I could make the whole trilogy come out on audio.
Sandy Williams Hi Leanne, I'm so, so close to being finished with another snippet from Aren's POV. It's so fun getting into his head. I'm glad you liked the first one. I'll try to finish the next soon, and will hopefully find time to write more after it. Thanks for your question, and for reading the Shadow Reader books!
Sandy Williams Hi Teshai,

Thanks for your question! I started writing a short story about how Kyol and McKenzie met. Thrain was definitely in it. I'd love to finish the story; I just have to find the time to do it. I might try to fit it in after my current project goes to edits. :-)
