I am an avid writer. I have self-published twenty-six books, two booklets, including the 10-book children's series, Can You Find My Love? I enjoy writing in different genres to understand self-expression and the written word.

I have written over 100 daily journals. I implement writing for healing and teach classes on the provocation of journal writing.

Keep the pen moving.

Maybe a voice is fearful someone will be hurt by what you want to say. I've addressed this in my book The Mindful Writer. Still the Mind, Free the Pen. Please don't misdiagnosis the pen stopping. Lunch with Mom: A Daughter's Soliloquy

Hi all,

I wish you all a healthy and good-reading New Year for 2025. I'd love to hear about your favorite memoir. Meanwhile I want to say I've just written my second memoir and my 28th book. Lunch with Mom: A Daughter's Soliloquy was a difficult write and I hope you take the time to check it out.

What's your favorite memoir?

“Write about a terrible experience until you find value in having gone through it. Then you will appreciate every dark hour.”
Jan Marquart, Kate's Way

“When you are trying to find your writing voice don’t try to emulate any writer, not even your favorite. Sit quietly, listen, listen again, then listen some more and write out everything the voice says with no censoring – none – not one word.”
Jan Marquart, The Basket Weaver

“I have never experienced writers block and I've written every day since June 1972. But I have experienced the need to get up and walk around, eat ice cream, let ideas percolate, forget the story for a time, and then return to the page. Even the muse needs a vacation to rest up before she gives more of herself.”
Jan Marquart, The Mindful Writer, Still the Mind, Free the Pen

“Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead.”
Charles Bukowski

“I not only use all the brains that I have, but all I can borrow.”
Woodrow Wilson

Beth Hi Jan,
Thanks for sending a friend request to this fellow Goodreads author (mystery, in my case)! I hope you will put my books, A Real Basket Case, To Hell in a Handbasket, and the most recently released Deadly Currents, on your to-read list.
- Beth
