Loving Vampyric Mother

It's almost Halloween, and I'm working on a new short story in which the protagonist is a vampire who feeds on her own children, firmly believing she is doing it is for their own good. It will be interesting to see if I can make her sympathetic.

Hell Holes 4: A Slave's Revenge

A Slave's Revenge just received the following Kirkus Review:

“Firesmith jampacks his engaging story with otherworldly beasts… The author deftly describes a bleak but colorful hell… An engrossing dystopian thriller with a vibrant, beastly cast.” — Kirkus Reviews

My theory of Consciousness

The Simulation Theory of Consciousness (or Your Car is Sentient) The Simulation Theory of Consciousness by Donald Firesmith

I've spent over 40 years developing large, complex, software-intensive systems and have been named a distinguished engineer by the Association of Computing Machinery. I've also been greatly interested in consciousness (subjective awareness) and an avid reader of related books ever since introduced to the topic in a college philosophy course. This book is the distillation of my thoughts of both what consciousness is and how it is produced by both living and artificial systems.

5-star Review of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing (The Carls, #1) An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed the characters of this wonderful book; they were very interesting with their strengths and weaknesses. I especially liked the author's original take on a first contact situation. Once I finished binge listening to the masterfully-done audiobook version, I had to immediately listen to the next one in the series. I will definitely read or listen to this author's other books.
