I know Will Kostakis, author of The Sidekicks, talks about how he submitted his first manuscript at your age. He wasn't ready yet and he was rejected, but he kept writing, and he kept failing better, until he finally was offered a publishing deal at seventeen. So to answer your question, no, you're not too young, but if you aren't accepted, don't take it to heart, just keep writing and working on your craft. You have all the time in the world!(less)

Thank you, it still feels strange and wonderful to be published, nothing beats seeing your book in a store! As far as tips go - read widely and critically - ask yourself why you enjoy what you're reading, or why you're not enjoying it, and try to figure out why the text is or isn't working. But the biggest tip is to write. Write and write and write. Experiment with different styles, play around with language, until you find the voice that feels most like 'you'. Most of all, have confidence in yourself, know that what you have to say is worthwhile. A lot of writing gets hampered by doubt and an internal self-censorship. Give yourself permission to write fearlessly. Best of luck x(less)

Big Love

I wrote a picture book! Isn’t this cover by Beck Feiner just gorgeous?

Two and a half years ago I had a baby, and the love I felt when I first held her was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. There were no words in all of the dictionaries in all of the languages that could describe the love, but I wanted to at least try. One sleepless, heart-bursting, fog-headed evening as I watched my daught

“I'm still shy," I admit, pulling the sleeves over my hands, "and I might always be, I don't know, but I think you can be shy and still feel okay about yourself at the same time.”
Megan Jacobson, Yellow

“Do not define me by my gender or my socio-economic status, Noah Willis. Do not tell me who I am and do not tell me who society thinks I am and then put me in that box and expect me to stay there. Because, I swear to God, I will climb the hell out of that box and I will take that box you've just put me in and I will use that box to smash your face in until you're nothing more than a freckly, bloodied pulp. You got that, sweet cheeks?”
Megan Jacobson, Yellow

“Everybody's good when they're good, darling. You don't judge a person by that. It's how they act when things aren't good that tells you who they really are.”
Megan Jacobson, The Build-up Season
