Delayed for ConFusion in Detroit

My flight was cancelled today and SeaTac airport shut down.  I have a new flight scheduled for tomorrow, but the weather is threatening to be just as bad.

I just know you are all having a wonderful time!  Wish I were there, too!

Australian e-book readers, say thanks to Tracey!

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

Tracey wrote in response to my post on Dragon Keeper and a reduced e-book price:

"Hi Robin

as usual Aussies miss out on the discount price.

We pay on Amazon $9.36. Thanks Harper Collins."

And Tracey wasn't the only one.

If you feel like readers are not heard, well, you are.

It's going to take a few days to get this up and going, but check the e-book price on Dragon Keeper next week. Publishers do want to keep you happy! And writers want you to be happy.

So, my sincere thanks to HarperCollins in Australia!

Robin

New Interview up on IO9. And Diane Duane mishap!

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

IO9 is a site with the tagline 'We Come From The Future!'  And in addition to an interview with me, the site features all sorts of SF, science and fantasy links, including some movie trailers that were very intriguing!  I think it's a site you'll end up bookmarking for future enjoyment.  Great image of the new cover for City of Dragons by Jackie Morris as well!  ( That link to Jackie's site shows you some sketches for Blood of Dragons.)

In less upbeat news, Diane Duane has been the victim of identity theft. The thieves drained her bank account and she is left in the lurch for funds until this is straightened out.  The full tale of woe is here.

What can you do about it?  Well, as her account relates, you can visit her e-book site  and add a few of her books to your reader.  I highly recommend So You Want To Be A Wizard in any format!  And she has generously offered to let her misfortune be your good luck.  If you use the discount code DDgotskimmed, you will get a 20% discount!  And add some great books to your e-reader.

e-book reminder! Dragon Keeper, $1.99

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

HarperCollins is currently doing an e-book promotion with a number of novels priced at less than $2!  Both Shaman's Crossing and Dragon Keeper are listed here.  There are great reads here for as little as 99 cents!

So if you got a new e-reader as a  holiday gift, you can easily stock up a pretty great library of e-books rather quickly and very inexpensively!  For less than $17, you can pick up 11 of HarperCollins writers and sample our books.

Not that we're cheap, mind you, but we can be had . . . .

My secret tip? If you haven't sampled Helen Lowe's work yet, check her out with The Heir of Night.  Oh, and there's a Raymond Feist novel there as well.  And a little bit of Steampunk, and perhaps a vampire . . .

This promotion won't go on forever!  Act now.

RT BookLovers Convention

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

I just added another event to my calendar for 2012; this one is for April.

I'll be attending the RT Booklovers Convention!   I've never been before, so I'm very excited to be there this year.

The gathering is at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.  Dates are from April 11 to the 15th.  If you want to locate me easily, I'll be on a panel on the FANTASY track called Beyond Unicorns & Elves: Writing Extraordinary Fantasy Fiction

Captain/MODERATOR: Ann Aguirre PANELISTS: Jenna Black, Yasmine Galenorn, Robin Hobb, Shawntelle Madison, Sarah Zettel (aka Marissa Day)

Right now this is scheduled for Friday 11:15-12:15, but it may change.  If so, I'll try to post here.

Hope to meet a lot of you!

Robin

The Inheritance (in Hardcover!)

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

I will be doing personalized signings of The Inheritance for my friend Shawn Speakman. Shawn operates The Signed Page, a wonderful site for bibiliophiles who long to possess autographed first editions.

I've blogged here before about the beautiful Subterranean Press edition of The Inheritance, with interior art by Tom Kidd.  In an extremely generous gesture, Subterranean Press donated one hunded copies of The Inheritance to Shawn to help defray his medical expenses.  So by going through Shawn's site, you will have a chance to own a copy of the book with a personalized signature as well has helping Shawn's financial picture.

While you are on The Signed Page site, check out the other autograph opportunities there, including Brian Herbert signing Sisterhood of Dune!

Happy New Year!

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

A little less than ten hours to go here. Think I'll wander out to First Night in Tacoma, and check out the world's shortest parade.   I'm so glad that my city decided to continue this tradition.  Giant puppets, music, free admittance to the city's museums . . . I love it!

I wish all of you peace and prosperity in the coming year.  I hope we will all make resolutions to be better and do more good, and I hope that I will succeed at keeping mine better than I have in previous years!

Mysterious Galaxy in March!

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

I've just added another stop to my book visits!

March 8, 7:30 PM, Mysterious Galaxy!  At the new Redondo Beach Store at 2810 Artesia Blvd Redondo Beach, CA 90278.

Signing at specialty stores is always a wonderful experience.  The staff and the customers are there because they love the genre and are always so knowledgeable about it.  That makes for great conversation and good advice on what to read next.

This will be my first visit to the new Redondo Beach store!

More details as I know them!

Merry Christmas! And a Happy New Year!

Originally published at Robin Hobb. You can comment here or there.

Christmas is what I will be celebrating in a few days!   I expect to be rather busy between now and the New Year, so I'm taking this opportunity to wish all of you well.

And if you do not share my holiday, well, I hope that you enjoy your own celebration in these dark days of winter!  And may 2012 bring a greater measure of peace and prosperity to all of us!

Robin
