UK Book Tour

Okay, nothing is for certain here . . . except that it’s all GOOD and I’m very excited about this.

This is the very tentative, could change at any moment schedule for the book tour.

First off, I arrive there. Then I get to fly to Glasgow to sign lots of stock. While I’m there, I’ll drop in at the Glasgow borders on Buchan Street.

Next stop will be Waterstones in Nottingham, and later, Waterstones in Norwich. (Hurray! I love Norwich!) I’ll probably love Nottingham, too, as soon as I’ve met it!

Back to the Rain Wilds again

Another busy day.  I have writing to do, weeding to do, a house to tidy and an airport run to make.

So, of course, I'm here, doodling around when I should be working!

As you may have noticed, I've changed the userpic for the journal.  The above shot is from the book trailer for The Dragon Keeper.  It's a closeup of Thymara.  Makeup is by Cast of Thousands, operated by Tacoma artist Tim Peirson.  I've been very impressed with his work, and he has been a pleasure to work with.  There will be more on

Peculiar day

It was such a strange mix of things.

Perhaps, since I haven't posted here for awhile, I should explain what I've been up to.

Dragon Keeper turned in.

Too long.  Split it into two books.

Dragon Keeper turned in again, then copyedited and turned in yet again, to both US and UK editors.

Second half of Dragon Keeper, now titled Dragon Haven, with new opening chapter and much more detail added turned in again to both editors.  Now hard at work on creating the 'book trailer' for Dragon Keeper, writing a sh

Writers and the Google Book Settlement

Are you a published writer? Have you written a book published before May 5, 2009, or had a short story included in such a book? Have you written an introduction or preface or other ‘insert’ for a published book? Are you the translator of a book? Are you a small press publisher, here in the US or outside the US? Are you the heir of a writer who wrote books published before May 5, 2009?

Then you need to educate yourself about the Google Book Settlement. Because it concerns you.

I am NOT an expert

Dragon Keeper passes another milestone.

So, I've finished Dragon Keeper.

Yes, again.  :)

The finish line this time was to go through the preliminary galleys looking for errors.  Galleys are a print out of the manuscript that mimics the pages of a book.  The title page is there, the chapter headings, the page numbers, all as it will be when it appear between covers.  It is the last, final, ultimate opportunity to author and editor to find any mistakes.  So, I don't skim.  I read painstakingly with a bookmark, line by line, word by word,

LUNACY at the Key Arena in Seattle!!!

Robots pelting one another with Moon Rocks
It just doesn't get better than that!

Team 360, sponsored by Boeing, Fikret Yuksel Foundation, Robin Hobb, Trillian Dental, and Parents of Bellarmine Robotic and Bellarmine Prep will be rocking the Key Arena in Seattle this weekend in the Microsoft Seattle Regional F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Competition.  Of course, there will be 63 other high school teams there, but this is the one I'll be watching.

A Fantasy Medley is nearly sold out

SOOOO,  If you want a copy of this anthology from Subterranean Press, you'd best order one soon!

http://www.amazon.com/Fantasy-Medley-Kelley-Armstrong/dp/159606224X/ref=sr_11_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1237917777&sr=11-1

That's the Amazon link.  I know it says the book isn't available yet, but it looks as if the pre-orders will consume the whole run.

In addition to my story, "Words Like Coins", set in the Farseer universe, you will find  Kate Elliott's "River of Death",  Kelley Armstrong's "Zen and the Art of

back to work

Tomorrow.  :)

Today I'm doing a general tidy up of things, nothing strenuous. Still trying to remember how to have a day off.

Tomorrow I plunge headfirst into the edits for volume two of Dragon Keeper. We are still mulling how the titles will be done.

I need to reintroduce the story and characters, but briefly, in a way that jumps right back into the story and advances the plot at the same time. So that means a pretty good overhaul of what was chapter 17 to make it a functional chapter one.

I also

Done!

I slept from 11:30 PM  to 6:15 this morning.  Almost 7 hours!  And now I'm feeling almost human again.

This only makes sense if you know that for the past week, I've been on the 'must have it presentable for production by Thursday' treadmill.  Intersecting that treadmill and intermittently slamming both my editor and me to the ground was the treadmill of the evil formatting fairy.  She was doing lovely things such as taking immaculately edited prose and abruptly destroying all the UK punctuation,

Free E-Books!

http://www.suvudu.com/

This is a promotion from Random House.  They are offering free the 'first in a series'.  So Assassin's Apprentice is there, for free download, as well as many other cool books.

If you enjoy e-books, check it out and add something new to your library!

This is a good website to bookmark, as they do a lot of nice promotional stuff.
