Sheep...
I dropped Maddie at The Country Vet this morning for the latest salvo of tests as we work towards getting her Cushing's Syndrome under control.
While there, I also said hello to the resident sheep (who had a little friend in with them today). Here's what they had to say...
"Baaaaaaaaaaaa!"
"Baaaaaaaaaaaa!"
"Baaaaaaaaaaaa!"
It's unanimous! The sheep hope Maddie starts feeling better soon.

Maddie Portraits

Walnut Park, Petaluma.

Walnut Bark, Petaluma.

Tppht! Too much wind to bark.

Miss Maddie, Queen of the Couch at Our Best Friends.

Contemplative Maddie considers a treat.
Sunday Evening
Something has Maddie concerned tonight. She waits at the back door, staring at it until I open it, then stands in the doorway, sniffing at the world, refusing to step outside. A bird circles high above, a neighbor's television cants mantras, the washing machine rumbles. And Maddie stands there, staring upwards, toward the naked, halfmooned sky.

Reflections on the News of the Death of a Mentor
He had a picture
of Josephine Baker, thumbtacked
to his office wall.
When pressed, he'd gaze, longingly
at Josephine's banana skirt,
chuckle, then say, "Ah, well, she's my girl."

Adult Beverage: New Belgium Sahti (Lips of Faith Series)
Described as "a Finnish rye ale brewed with Juniper" that is "Cascade and Amarillo hopped, orange and lemon peel spiced," Sahti pours a light, hazy amber with a thin, cloudwhite head. Citrus on the nose, lemony. Citrus and hops on the tongue, with soda pop carbonation. Nice and bitter up front, but light-bodied so it hits the top of palate, then falls down the throat with only a little back-of-throat burn. First impression was that it lacked a little something, but Sahti becomes more complex, and juniper becomes recognizable, as it approaches room temperature.
