I wanted to let you all know about this... Today and today only (today being Dec. 14, 2009) at author Heather Long's The Daily Dose we're giving away a jeweled bookmark that is symbolically significant to the 13 TO LIFE series.

The idea (her giveaway concept) is absolutely awesome considering the spirit of the season. You leave a comment there that tells why someone YOU like/love/adore deserves to win the bookmark. That's right--you're trying to win it to give to someone very near and dear to you. To me, THAT says "holiday spirit."

Yo! The Class of 2k10 (of which I'm a member)is holding a Spring Break celebration over at author Heather Long's site: The Daily Dose. Starting Saturday the 13th (also known in this household as "the-day-Shannon-survived-her-son's-6th-birthday-party-at-McDonalds'-Playland") members of the Class of 2k10 started posting blogs about spring, spring break and their books. Everyone did something a bit different and every post gives readers some fresh insight into our books (all of which debut this year).

I did a brief prequel--NOT like the exclusive prequel I recently wrote for St. Martin's Press. Yep. I've been on a prequel roll.

And for one lucky person there's a HUGE HONKIN' PRIZE. All you have to do is read each post (I think there's a total of 10 of us participating) and comment (some authors asked a direct question). Then, if luck's on your side, bingo-bango--you walk away with some cool loot. :D

Yup. Yesterday I gave away Tera Lynn Child's Forgive My Fins, today's Melissa Marr's Fragile Eternity and tomorrow--well, I'm not quite sure, but maybe I'll announce it while I'm Barry Eva's guest live on his Blog Talk Radio show, "A Book and a Chat." The show starts tomorrow morning (Saturday, June 12) at 11 am EST. Call-ins and questions in the chat are welcomed.

Then, June 14, I start giving away different books through the 13 TO LIFE Facebook Fanpage. On the 15th? A book a day is given away through my Twitter.

The big blow-out comes June 22 (13 to Life's release day and the day of my book birthday party at the Colgate Bookstore in Hamilton, NY) when I give away a bunch of books to celebrate!

Don't get me wrong--I love winter (as long as I don't need to drive on dangerous roads), and summer can be lovely (unless it's hot without a breeze...or buggy), and autumn is often my favorite season (so beautiful and dramatic), but spring wakes me up. I want to do ALL. THE. THINGS.

I want to dig around in my gardens, spend time laughing at bouncing lambs, cleaning, cooking, crafting, discover snippets of spring sunlight to sit and read in, and find inspiration.

I want to write and revise and grow as an artist.
