Can you tell I love rainbows and butterflies? (Grinning). And books!
To me rainbows not only celebrate being queer and our #lgbtqia community, but also make me think of magic and possibilities. Butterflies, especially Monarch butterflies, have always felt to me like a source of magic, strength, and inspiration. And books, of course, are pure magic all on their own. They transport us into worlds and other people’s lives, taking us from the stress in our own, and giving us so much comfort, insight, and healing.
These stained-glass rainbow butterflies fittingly hang in front of my YA and MG fantasy lit bookshelf, with some of my favourite, repeatedly read books. (I have so many more favorites, but I’ve been buying more ebooks lately than hardcopy because they are cheaper. and friend sent me these lovely Wonder Woman goodies all the way from Brazil! (beaming) What a lovely, sweet pick-me-up. I’m especially looking forward to using the Wonder Woman etch-a-sketch and towel! Thank you, Andre!
When I was a child and teen being abused and tortured, imagining that I was Superman, Wonder Woman, the Hulk, helped me survive some of it, so I have a special fondness for superheroes, and especially for Wonder Woman who is such a strong woman character.

My sweet author assistant Petal has got her favourite goose toy in her mouth
after squeaking it, while I sit in my office typing up a first draft of a new novel. (Yes, I write and edit by hand. I find it is more connected to my inner voice and creativity.) I am so glad Petal is feeling good again!

I just received my first ever Uppercase box
(a YA monthly subscription box) that my friend and reader Lynn Postlewait so generously gave me (3 months!) as a gift for Christmas and I’m so excited to dive in! This case includes a signed hardcover copy of THE GILDED WOLVES by Roshani Chokshi who is a NY Times bestselling author, a Gilded Wolves character card, a Harry Potter Quidditch notebook, and a little packet of tea from Wick & Fable. Such delightful but goodies! I love books and bookish stuff.
The hardcover book came packed in a little fabric bag which I so appreciated because I like to keep my books in good shape.
I needed another great ya fantasy to dive into so I’m excited to read this. Yay for YA books and good friends!

because: rainbows! To me they represent both being out and proud as a lesbian, and magical hopeful rainbows. My neighbor and friend Debbie picked them up for me at Winner’s!
