Falling Star (A Jersey Girl Novel Book 1) By Laura DeLuca Reviews

fallingstar Falling Star (A Jersey Girl Novel Book 1)

Drew DiPalma feels like he’s living a lie.

He’s had it with his Hollywood persona, the high-maintenance women, and his sleazy agent. To escape the madness, he flees to a tourist town he’d often visited as a child. He never expected to find love on that little island. Then he stumbles upon Lainey alone on the swing set of a deserted beach.

After a dozen internet dating disasters, Lainey Riccardo has given up on romance–until she meets a West Coast hunk who has no trouble winning her heart. But Lainey only knows him as Drew, not the Oscar-nominated actor who’s constantly scandalized in the tabloids.

When she learns the truth, will the small town Jersey girl be able to accept Drew’s fast-paced life? Or will the truth drive her away forever?

April Hollingworth Review

5 Stars

This is the first book in A Jersey Girl series, and it is a wonderful start to what promises to be a fabulous series. Lainey loves life and wants’ to be an author; while Drew is running from the life he’s created as a Hollywood actor. Upon a chance meeting they find happiness together, and drew’s eyes are opened up to the magic of the world and that facing your fears is the only way forward. But his secret of whom he is threatens everything he has gained with Lainey. Can they allow themselves to have the happiness and love they both deserve and want, or will the lies and the circumstances keep them apart? A fantastically beautiful story and well worth the read. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Opening Scene:

“Cut!” the director shouted.

The Review:

Drew DiPalma feels like he’s living a lie. He’s fed up with his Hollywood persona, Andy Palmer, ruled by a sleazy agent and high-maintenance women. To escape from the madness he flees to the one place no one will think to look for him, a place he spent his childhood summers. What he never expected to find on the little island is love. But seeing Lainey singing while swinging on the swing sets, alone on a deserted section of the beach, Drew feels more human and himself than he has in years.

Lainey Riccardo has given up on love; her internet dating has turned into one disaster after another. Then she meets West Coast hunk Drew, and after spending time together Lainey soon realizes she’s losing her heart to him. But Lainey doesn’t know that Drew is Andy Palmer, Hollywood heartthrob, Oscar –nominated actor who’s constantly in the tabloids.

Will Lainey and Drew find their happy ever after, or will the truth tear them apart. After all how will a small town girl survive in the fast pace of Hollywood?

Notable scene:

“Don’t move,” the girl ordered. She set her lips in a tight frown and her hand never wavered from her weapon. Her cheeks were flushed, either by the breeze or by her agitation. “I’m not afraid to use this.”

“All right.” Drew lifted his hands and took a step back, showing her that he was unarmed. “I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

She was unconvinced. “How would you feel if you found some strange guy gawking at you in the middle of nowhere?”

Drew shoved his hands in his pockets. His lips tugged back in a half smile. “The truth is, I’ve never seen a grown woman singing to herself on a swing set before. I found it intriguing and couldn’t resist getting a better look.”

She wasn’t beautiful-at least not by Hollywood standards. Most of his friends would have defined her as average, somewhat plain. Her long brown hair was tangled and messy from the wind, and her nose might have been slightly crooked. But there was something about her-something different. She still had her mace pointed at him, but despite her defensive stance, she didn’t seem afraid. If anything, those big brown eyes were curious.

“What can I say? I’m a kid at heart.” She crinkled her forehead. “So why are you still standing there?”

Drew’s smile grew wider. He couldn’t help teasing her, even though he was in a precarious position. “You told me not to move.”

This story is a cute concept. The heroine is a sweet girl that has a secret passion for writing in her free time. She has three close friends that are all unique and each brings out the best in the others. She can sing but is very shy and reserved. The hero is a burnt out movie star that is fed up with all that Hollywood has to offer. He leaves LA for Wildwood, New Jersey, in the hopes of some rest and relaxation. They meet at the beach and begin a relationship. He is going by his birth name so she doesn’t realize that her boyfriend is Hollywood’s beloved Man of the Year. The story does get slow at some points but it is well written. A hurricane, an arrogant agent, and a crazy co-star add to the plot. All in all it is a good story.

A Secret Fate (Whisper Cape 3) By Susan Griscom Review

secretfate A Secret Fate (Whisper Cape Book 3)

An erotic paranormal dark romance and the third book in the steamy Whisper Cape Trilogy

“Well, fate was cruel, wasn’t it?”

Cael and Addison’s fate has taken an unexpected turn.

Gerry, Addie and Cael almost captured Careen’s murderer only to lose Cael in the battle–a battle that nearly cost him his life. But despite his survival, he faces a new challenge, thanks to Gerry’s handiwork: will Cael remember Addie or is their love lost with him?

Addie’s family and friends think she should keep the relationship a secret from Cael so he isn’t forced into feelings he can’t remember. Just what she needs, more secrets and on top of everything else, someone stole the crystal. How is she supposed to get over the loss of her lover, a lover she’d barely had for only a few short months and deal with the secret of the lost crystal at the same time?

Aiden wants nothing more than to help Addie overcome her grief and get over Cael. Or is that all he wants? What happens when too many people know the secret and someone slips up?

I must say this book certainly lived up to ALL my expectations!!! The book starts off right where book 2 left off. I could not be happier with this. Although i did not read the scene from book 2 REFLECTIONS because it made me cry the first time so i went right to chapter 1. Well there was no crying for me in this book! It is of course jam packed with suspense, action and romance. When Cael finally comes home, Addison goes through a whirlwind of emotions. With Aiden helping her cope with her depression, they become good friends. When the new characters come in to the story, the suspense starts getting really intense. With the surprising twists and turns i could not turn the page fast enough! I could not put the book down because of all the secrets about the characters were coming to the light. With Cael dealing with his memory loss, i was not sure if things would work out for him and Addison. Like all great stories, i was sad to reach the end of the series. I really enjoyed visiting Whisper Cape and would love to go back again! I hope that at some point in time SUSAN GRISCOM will continue her wonderful story with a book 4!!

I daydream often and sometimes my daydreams interrupt my daydreams. So I write to remember them. If I didn’t write, I think my mind would explode from an overload of fantasy and weirdness. To the annoyance of my friends and family, my characters sometimes become a part of my world. During my childhood, I would frequently get in trouble in school for daydreaming. Eventually, my vivid imagination paid off and I had the privilege of writing and co-directing my sixth-grade class play—a dreadful disaster, though not from my writing, of course, I must blame it on the acting.

I enjoy writing about characters living in small quaint towns and tend to lean toward the unusual and spooky.

My paranormal playing field delves into a different milieu, abandoning vampires and werewolves, but not discounting them. Someday I might like to write a novel about vamps and those furry creatures. But for now I like the bizarre mixed with romance. A strong hero or heroine confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and capabilities gets my blood running hot.

Whisper Cape (Book 1) By Susan Griscom Review

whispercape Whisper Cape Book 1

A powerful woman, an extraordinary man, and a maniac who wants to destroy them. Fate has brought them together, but will it make them stronger or destroy them all in end?

Escape to a world where the impossible becomes possible and sparks ignite.

WHISPER CAPE is a town of secrets and Addison MacKenna soon becomes tangled in a web of them. Plagued with nightmares of her father’s sudden and brutal death, Addie struggles with her anguish and refuses to believe his demise was accidental.

Fighting to shake off one of those devastating early morning nightmares, Addison finds it even harder to escape from the vision of a man lying on the side of the road–a man she may have just killed. When she frantically tries to locate him, he seemingly disappears, just the beginning of strange occurrences in her life. She also cannot ignore the weird sensations in her own body. Suddenly, the impossible seems possible, but is that a blessing or a curse?

Believing that her continual and worsening nightmares are both the key to her own new abilities and the clue to her father’s death, Addie knows she will not rest until she has the answers she craves. As she strives to cope with her new remarkable talents, someone else learns of her abilities–a disgruntled maniacal psychopath with his own agenda that involves eliminating Addie. The only one who can protect her, instruct her in the use of her powers and teach her how to destroy the murderous monster is the same man who makes Addie’s heart race and her blood heat with passion. The same man she’d left for dead.

Cael Sheridan may be arrogant and mysterious but he’s also undeniably gorgeous. A member of a secret society, he is sworn to protect the woman he believes to be the daughter of his recently murdered mentor. In the process, he finds it impossible to resist her magnetic sensuality, complicating his efforts to shield and guide her as she learns to manage her newly acquired skills. At the same time, Addison has much to teach him about trust and commitment. Will fate win in the end? You be the judge.
