Joe Turner's Come and Gone
Last night I saw the revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone--a rich and moving play that deals with several aspects of the African American experience in the north in 1911.
The play takes place in a boarding house run by a perfectly matched middle aged couple--the husband works the night shift --I'm not clear what he actually does--but what he lovingly does in his spare time is make pots and pans out of sheet metal and sell his work to people in town and to an itinerant (white)

What's up?
I've just finished my contribution to the next mind meld. (not telling the subject--sticking out tongue).
Crawling slowly towards the homestretch of my Best Horror of the Year #1 (I've contracted for 10 stories so far); and finally finished the bio/intros for Darkness: Two Decades of Modern Horror. Now I have to tear my hair out as I attempt to write a coherent preface/intro to the whole book.
Watched Pieces of April from 2003, with Katie Holmes as the problem child attempting Thanksgiving dinne

Bruce Sterling and Jasmina Tesanovic Request Your Moral Support
This one of the dumbest things our government has tried to do yet:
The "Exotic Enemies Do Get Married" Campaign
I've never actually seen the couple together (in fact, I hardly ever see Bruce at all these days) so I can't help, other than to spread the word to those who have met them. For anyone reading this who has met them as a couple, please write a letter as per the plea and send it on to them to use for immigration.
You'll be doing a good deed and it costs you nothing but time.

This and that
During the weekend I watched From the Terrace, part of my "catch-up watching Paul Newman movies" plan since he died. Lousy movie but joy in watching Newman--gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous--and Joanne Woodward, who also is beautiful in this one (in many of her movies--even with Newman-- she was made to look dowdy). Young man home from WWII doesn't want to join his dad in his biz and goes to NYC with a buddy to start an aircraft design company. Meets socialite Joanne Woodward and steals her away from
