Brown Book of Errors
A Little Brown Book of Burials has shipped. Unfortunately, three typographical errors were introduced during layout/printing after I signed off on the galley version. The problem came to my attention when the author copies arrived yesterday.
1. Table of contents does not align with actual page numbers
2. “D T” ending is missing (about the last half page)
3. Wrong header on last page of book
I apologize to my readers for this situation. Fixing it is beyond my control, however I’m contemplating an errata entry (with the missing last page) here on my author site. I’ll have more to say after I’ve had time to process this more thoroughly. All I can say at the moment is, I’m sorry.

Daniel Mills Interview
Daniel Mills recently appeared on the Outer Dark podcast for an interview with Scott Nicolay. Daniel is an accomplished author who delves into the classical weird such as Hawthorne and MR James, but with a contemporary sensibility. It’s an interesting discussion that covers a lot of ground from Daniel’s influences to his reading recommendations.

On Writing: Horror v Terror
Horror is a complex realization of disorder; it is related to disgust. Terror is a visceral reaction to a threat; it is related to violence, especially the fight or flight defense mechanism.
Yes, Virginia, Horror and Terror can and do overlap.

On Writing: Philip Roth
From an interview in the Paris Review:
INTERVIEWER
Do you have a Roth reader in mind when you write?
ROTH
No. I occasionally have an anti-Roth reader in mind. I think, “How he is going to hate this!” That can be just the encouragement I need.

Internal & Infinite: Interview at Thomas Ligotti Online
A few weeks ago I had a long phone conversation with Jon Padgett, administrator and curator in chief of Thomas Ligotti Online. Some of that conversation made it into a subsequent interview Jon conducted with me via email. A lot didn’t. He’s a gracious man, and I appreciate the invitation to talk about my relation to Ligotti’s work, the genesis of More Dark, and writing in general. The Internal Vista is Infinite is live at TLO.
I’d be remiss not to point readers toward a fascinating story that Jon published at the Lovecraft Ezine called The Secret of Ventriloquism. Do you want to learn greater ventriloquism? The answer is no, no you do not.
