Another reminder for the “deescalate and talk!” appeasement crowd. Putin uses talks to prepare for force, ignore ceasefires, spread corruption, and manipulate the diplomatic arena. It’s never in good faith so stop making the same mistake. https://t.co/AjhgjRXfLk

Is the Chinese leadership so eager to see if the free world is as readily able to do without its manufacturing as it has been able to do without Russian energy? Even small boycotts would create social chaos. https://t.co/SS5QEJufbI

I'm no mind-reader, but I've been right about Putin for a long time and have read the eyes of many an opponent. He looked and sounded like a man who knows he's lost, who knows he's lying even to himself, but is hoping his enemies don't realize it yet.

Kasparov: Putin’s Speech was ‘Weak’ and ‘Pathetic’ Next to Biden’s | NBC | February 23, 2023
Almost, but not quite. The capability exists, as it has since the beginning, but the will to state the mission clearly is still lacking. But there is progress toward the inevitable admission that the only road to peace is through Ukrainian victory. https://t.co/WmWEQ9SdzL
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 23, 2023
Good piece, MJ. One issue today, nine years later, is that so many of the people who missed or ignored the warnings, or who tried to appease Putin, are still in positions of influence and power today repeating the same wrong things. https://t.co/y9HLX2mTBZ
— Garry Kasparov (@Kasparov63) February 23, 2023
Putin’s whining, mendacious lecture today sounded even more pathetic contrasted with EU leaders in Munich, Biden and Zelensky in Ukraine, and Biden and Duda in Warsaw. A dictator’s fear and hatred versus the democratic world’s optimism and unity.

EU foreign ministers met with Garry Kasparov in Brussels on Monday at the initiative of Lithuania and Poland to discuss the activities of Russia’s opposition https://t.co/utpc37Ldio

“EU foreign ministers met with Garry Kasparov in Brussels on Monday at the initiative of Lithuania and Poland to discuss the activities of Russia’s opposition.
“The goal of this meeting is to hear directly from representatives of the Russian opposition what they are prepared to do to promote change in Russia and what kind of EU support for a democratic Russia would be the most useful,” Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said in a statement.
Kasparov is a former chess player and is now a prominent member of the Russian opposition.
According to the press release, the EU foreign ministers present at the meeting were interested to learn whether opposition figures who have fled can continue to have influence in Russia. They also wanted to know about initiatives to support Ukraine.
Foreign ministers from EU member statues are meeting in Brussels on Monday to agree on new sanctions for Russia and the supply of ammunition to Ukraine.”

Stating the obvious, but this is no small thing, as with VP Harris saying it today here in Munich. The West has a long, pathetic track record of failing to acknowledge the obvious when it comes to Putin’s crimes. Change is good. https://t.co/QjRLDRoxaC

These visits, and one by the US President especially, are important symbols to tell Putin and the world that Ukraine belongs only to Ukrainians. Biden is an invited guest, Russians are invaders. https://t.co/5CWNWbmujp
