We Silver Elves are happy to announce that we just published our 67th book on the Elven Way, Elfin Life and Magic, titled Jesus Christ Elf Lord: The Faerie Foundations of Christianity, Book Two. First we would like to say that we respect everyone’s own decision as to what religion or no religion that they embrace, and being elven has nothing to do with one’s chosen religion, as the Elven Way is a spiritual path not a religion. We have written this book because many of our elfae people have asked us for an elven perspective on Jesus and Christianity.
Book Dedication:
We dedicate this book to our beloved Elf Witch and Pagan kindred who endured through the ages despite the persecution you have suffered.
JESUS CHRIST ELF LORD, Book Two is the second book of our two book series about Jesus Christ who was/is, in our opinion as well as the opinion of other scholars, an Elven Lord. As we said in our first volume, we Silver Elves are not Christians ours’elves but we know of a number of elfin faerie folk who have expressed to us their wish to keep their Christian faith and yet integrate it with their elfin natures and fae understanding of thems’elves. These two books are an attempt upon our part to illuminate Jesus’ teachings with the Elven Way (see our book of that title) and the Faerie Faith and show them in a harmonious light. We also seek to demonstrate the way Christianity has been influenced by and adapted itself to the Faerie world as well as show, in some cases, how Christianity has influenced modern images of we elfin. These realms are not separate but intimately connected.
In this volume 2 of the series we continue to look closely from an elven perspective at Christianity to cover an elfin view of such topics as: Jesus and other sacrificed gods; Jesus and his coven; Mary Magdalene and Mother Mary; Christmas and Saturnalia; Christ Consciousness; St. Francis and St. Claire; Heaven and Hell; Valhalla and the Realm of Hel; Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ; Revelations, Osiris and Horus; Ragnarok; Gnostics and Gnomes; the Fairy Flag of the Clan MacLeod; prayers as spells; questioning why Christianity is against magic and witchcraft; self-flagellation; suicide; confession/atonement; Free Grace Theology; what Jesus would think about nudity and sexuality; protestantism; proselytizing; Fae as fallen angels; demons/daemons; body vs. spirit; Lord Elrond and Lord Jesus; the Four Horseman; the Seven Seals; Esoteric Christianity; Tolkien mythos; the Seven Deadly Sins; the Seven Virtues; the Seven Magical Virtues; and Christian Magic.

Below is an excerpt from the book Jesus Christ Elf Lord, Book Two:
Another look at Hell“Jesus is often shown as wearing a crown of thorns by which he was caused to suffer. At the same time, his crown of thorns is not utterly dissimilar to the Faerie Crown that Thranduil wears in the Hobbit movies. Only for Thranduil the twigs/thorns are turned outward. Which may suggest the crown Jesus will wear when it is prophesied that he will, like Horus the ancient Egyptian god, return to kick ass and set the world aright.”
“Jesus’ crown of thorns is meant to indicate that he suffered on our behalf. But really does spreading suffering relieve suffering? If you hit your thumb with a hammer and cry out in pain, will your suffering be lessened if we hit our thumbs with a hammer, too? If we are depressed and you become depressed as well, will that help us be less depressed? That seems to be the theme of the saying ‘misery loves company’, although we think really it is happiness that loves company and misery often just wishes to be alone. But to want other people to suffer because you are suffering is a common feeling, although it usually does nothing to relieve our suffering, it just masks it with a pathetic delight in the pain of others. We elves for our part prefer to ‘kiss it and make it better’.”
“Of course, Jesus’ suffering isn’t primarily about suffering, really. It is about enduring suffering and overcoming suffering. As we’ve said before, the fact that the cross is so commonly used as a symbol of Christianity instead of the image of Jesus ascending to heaven, is a mystery to we who are elven.”
“We elves and faerie folk have also suffered. Alas, this is often happened at the hands of Christians, or at least those who proclaimed they were Christian while not following Jesus’ teachings at all. Perhaps they were trying to relieve their own suffering by sharing it with us. But creating more suffering only adds to the suffering in the world and it is happiness and delight that we elves strive toward because those are truly magical and healing.”
“When one of us was at Catholic military school when he was a boy, a nun there told him and the other pixies in his school class that hell wasn’t really a place where demons tortured one forever. Hell was, according to her, the absence of god. It was not being able to be in the presence of god who is so very wonderful and amazing. We don’t know where she got that idea. When we researched it to get some notion where this point of view originated, we came across a fantasy novelette Hell Is the Absence of God by Ted Chiang published 2001. However, we have not read this story and so cannot recommend it one way or another. At the same time, we are pretty sure that our nun didn’t get her idea from this fantasy tale unless, of course, she was a time traveler or a psychic visionary for she had proclaimed that view nearly fifty years previous to the publication of that work.”
“Another thing we found on google was a pastor answering a question a woman had posed to him that more or less asked if god is everywhere, is he in hell? And, rather like an elf, the pastor responded yes and no. Yes, in the sense that god is aware of everything but no in the sense that his grace is absent from hell. And while this interchange also went on over 50 years, at least, after our nun expressed the idea that hell is the absence of god, the pastor’s response is similar, although we still got the idea that he thought spirits were being tortured in hell as vengeance for not obeying or believing in god.”
“What our nun meant, as we understand it, was that in sinning one separates oneself from god in an inner psychological and soulful way and that separation is torturous. However, it is actually self-imposed torture. Not something that someone does to you but something you have done to yourself.”
“God, in that sense, is a rock star, a rap star, a movie star that you so admire that you long to know them and be with them. God is your soulmate, god is your child that you would lay down your life to protect and who brings joy and delight into your life. God is the person you are in love with. God is the most wonderful person in the universe and when you are separated from that person, you feel tortured inside and long to be with them. Hell is the agony of love when one is apart from one’s beloved. And there is no reason for you not to be with him, unless you yours’elf make it impossible by your actions, like an alcoholic or drug addict that messes up their life so much that their own family who loves them just can’t have them around. Some call this ‘tough love’, but we elves merely think of it as being practical and realistic.”
“When we Silver Elves speak of god, we are talking about the Divine Magic that is male and female and both and neither. It exists in all things and is found in all things and within ours’elves and our own inner nature. The absence of the Divine Magic, which ultimately is so painful that it feels like hell, is due to our separation from each other (as well as from our own s’elves). And yet, some people by their behavior make it impossible to have them around.”
“And we, in harmony with each other and our others, are quite happy in our union and ever hopeful that those others who are suffering will put aside their bad habits and behaviors that are causing the rift between us so we may join in union once more. Alas, like alcoholics who insist that they don’t have a problem with drinking and that it is other people who have a problem with them drinking, some people are not quite ready to develop themselves to the point where they can live in harmony with others.”
“Hell is the absence of a connection to the Divine Magic in one’s life. It is not about believing in god or accepting Jesus as your lord and savior, although it may have something to do with believing in love. Although, there have been many through time who didn’t believe in love and yet Love found them anyway. The Divine Magic is Love.”
“Hell is the absence of those we adore and who, in turn, adore us. Hell is punishment but it is suffering we have insisted upon our own s’elves and as soon as we are ready to stop punishing ours’elves and to change and develop so we can be in the presence of the Divine, the Divine Magic will be waiting for us everywhere and is to be found in nearly everyone around us and within our own nature. This is the truth of Christianity. And this, whether you are Christian or not, is the truth of the Elven Way.”

Does rh Negative Blood Signify the Elven Bloodline and How Tall Are Elves?
“. . . not everyone who has rh negative blood think they are elfae beings or are even attracted to the ideas about and the culture of Faerie while others of different blood types very much are drawn to Elfin and Faerie. Which is why, in part, we say again that we elfae are a spiritual race of beings and see the world overall, unlike most of the normal folk, from an energetic rather than a material or biological viewpoint . . . . Rh negative blood doesn’t make us an elfae being, any more than having pointed ears would. Although, pointed ears would be very cool, no doubt about it . . . . As much as those who write stories project this or that look or feature for describing or classifying we elfae folk, there is actually no precise physical characteristic that actually defines us or indicates that we are Elfin. Even being descended from the ancient Scythians would not indicate that we were elfae either. It is because, dear kin, we’re spirits and magic spirits at that and can choose whatever body or racial type we desire as we pass from one incarnation to another seeking to manifest Elfin upon the Earth.”
Some individuals have put forth the idea that rh negative blood signifies the elven bloodline. We expect that the individuals who proclaim this are, in fact, elfae folk who have rh negative blood. We doubt that they would make this claim if they weren’t, for it is an attempt to certify their elfae nature in a material fashion.
Alas, we are in the process of the passing from the fifth sub-race of the fifth root race, as Blavatsky saw things (see her book The Secret Doctrine), who are a very material and biological oriented people, to the sixth sub-race, who are more psychic, intuitive and spiritual, in the sense of energetic, in their understanding and view of life and thus more elfin in their manifestation. The whole idea that went around a few decades ago about the Indigo Children was a reflection of this transition in process, as was the idea before that concerning the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius… Aquarius… Aquar – ree – us. Harmony and understanding …
The idea of being descended from the Scythians, who are seen as the ancestors of the Sidhe of Ireland and the Tuatha de Danann, also stems from an attempt to make our elfae nature real and acceptable to the world at large by attaching it to real historical people and thus demonstrating that we really exist. And this urge comes, of course, primarily from the fact that those of the fifth sub-race see anything that doesn’t have a historical or material source as being questionable and thus, in their words, ‘airy-fairy’ and not serious enough to be given genuine and respectful consideration by them.
And surely it is understandable that some of our people would seek acceptance in the world of the normal folk and, in fact, it may help them (normals) become aware of our existence, even when they deny the actuality of our claims to being elfae beings. We Silver Elves, for our part, are not all that concerned about achieving the recognition of the normal folk, but that isn’t to say that some of our kin don’t have that desire or that it is wrong for them to do so.
There is, alas, a tendency for many elfae folk (especially when they are young and newly awakened) to think that because they are this or that thing, such as having rh negative blood, that everyone who shares that particular manifestation or physiology, necessarily is also an elfae being and those who don’t have that particular aspect are not. However, it should be clear that, in fact, not everyone who has rh negative blood think they are elfae beings or are even attracted to the ideas about and the culture of Faerie while others of different blood types very much are drawn to Elfin and Faerie. Which is why, in part, we say again that we elfae are a spiritual race of being and see the world overall, unlike most of the normal folk, from an energetic rather than a material or biological viewpoint.
What makes us elves or faeries or otherkin isn’t our material bodies but our spirits and our inherent attractions. We wish to be elves and faeries because that’s what we are. It would be nice if the normal folk accepted our identities but then we can hardly expect them to do so and although it would be somewhat convenient if they did, we don’t entirely care. We like being the weirdos, the freaks and the strange in comparison to them. Especially since the way they live and think just seems crazy to us as well as incredibly boring. Crazy we can take, but boring … not so much.
Rh negative blood doesn’t make us an elfae being, any more than having pointed ears would. Although, pointed ears would be very cool, no doubt about it. But we have known individuals with pointed ears and they were quite intelligent beings but they didn’t have the least interest in our elfae culture and were quite happy, really, to be normal. Sort of a new-agey normal but normal nonetheless. We would have been quite happy to have them among us, actually, but they weren’t in the least interested. Faerie and Elfin lore and life was simply too ‘airy-fairy’ for their tastes.
As much as those who write stories project this or that look or feature for describing or classifying we elfae folk, there is actually no precise physical characteristic that actually defines us or indicates that we are Elfin. Even being descended from the ancient Scythians would not indicate that we were elfae either. It is because, dear kin, we’re spirits and magic spirits at that and can choose whatever body or racial type we desire as we pass from one incarnation to another seeking to manifest Elfin upon the Earth. While we must admit that pointed ears are very lovely and we’d love to naturally have our ears be pointed, we’d still rather have the power to choose whatever body we wish in each incarnation. For that magical power, beloved, is even cooler than pointed ears as far as we are concerned.
How Tall are Elves?
In the Tolkien’s works, elves are generally seen as being somewhat tall. However, elves in Tolkien are not generally taller than men are for the most part and are usually seen as being relatively the same height with individual exceptions as is also the case among Mankind. In comparison to Hobbits and Dwarves, of course, we are portrayed as being quite a bit taller and compared to most trolls and some of the orc folk, quite a bit smaller and also, in comparison to Men overall, less bulky with a tendency to be thin people in general.
But we should also point out that even the fae and faeries of Irish lore and the Sidhe were generally seen as human sized beings who had no wings in ancient times. Elves, in that sense, were merely the Norse equivalent of Irish and British fae.
It wasn’t, for the most part, until the Victorian Age that faeries became diminished into little beings with wings, much like Tinkerbell of the Peter Pan story is seen to be. That story being written just a few years after Queen Victoria’s passing. This diminishment in size brought a mixture of notions concerning we elfae beings that can be seen reflected in the faerie tales that were collected in Barbara Rieti’s study Strange Terrain: The Fairy World in Newfoundland in which the faeries are seen sometimes as being small like children but still older looking like adults, sometimes even wizened and at other times seen as regular sized humanoids, depending upon the tale.
But even if we go back in time, we can find that dwarves were sometimes said to be Dark Elves although, often, still viewed as short beings while the Fomorians of Irish tales were composed of a variety of fae beings from dwarf-sized, to troll-sized to giants. And we should also note that even in Scandinavian faerie lore, trolls are seen as being both very large beings but also at times, much smaller child-sized folk. We expect that the trolls were diminished in size just as the faeries were.
Also, we should take heed of the fact that while we elves are often seen as being tall, our cousins the brownies, pixies (also called pict-sidhe, piskies and other names) and gnomes are often viewed as being smaller folk. Sometimes, they are seen as very small like faeries are viewed as being, but often the size of smaller children.
The fact is that we elfae come in a variety of sizes overall and we elves come in various sizes as well. Few of us in modern times are as little as faeries are currently viewed as being, except when we are newborns or prior to that in the womb. But then not all those who relate to and aspire toward developing their elvish beings are all tall either. Neither are all of us svelte beings. Although, a woman the other day asked us Silver Elves if we ever ate anything since we were so skinny and we replied that we ate quite a lot, really, but we didn’t add that it was very healthy food. Also, we exercise every day.
However, it is a simple fact that not all of us, nor very many of us really, are going to fit into the ideals that Men have created for our beings. Some of us will be tall, some short and many in between. Some of us will be thin, some heavier and again many in between. Since elfin-ness is more an aspect of spirit and personality than physicality, our only real concern as spirits is having our bodies be as healthy as possible and as lovely as we can make them, and all the other preconceptions about our bodies tend to fall to the wayside. We are varied folk by our very natures and that is not only true of our inner beings but our outer beings as well.
We Silver Elves, for our own part, hold no expectations about what our people will look like. We do expect that they will be interesting people, however they may appear, and we are seldom disappointed in this regard. We are continually amazed by our elfae kindred and quite often inspired by them. We expect that they will be artists of some sort or other, often multimedia individuals or talented in a variety of fields and we are often inspired by their work.
It is true that there is a lot of shapeshifting in our elfae communities. People think they are one kintype only to shift to another and another until they finally find what is truly right for them. However, that is to be expected. After all, we are all growing and transforming as spirits anyway. Some us transforming within our kintypes and others among the kintypes. Eventually, we all come to be who we truly are, which in the long run is who we truly wish to be. Ours is a world of magic after all.

Were the Celts Faerie Folk?”
“. . . . from our point of view, the Celts are and were elfae folk and if they didn’t have that understanding of thems’elves at the time, we are more than happy to adopt them. For whatever our genetic makeup and background, many of us modern elfae peoples look at the ancient Celts and cannot help but feel, those are our fae peoples. We are descended from them in spirit, if not genetics.”
The Celts are not generally seen as being faerie folk. Although, in The Book of Invasions that accounts the legends of the various peoples who lived in Ireland, they are represented by the Sons of Mil or Milesians, who were Gaels and thus a group of Celtic tribes who are said to have defeated the Tuatha De Danann or Sidhe folk and are often seen as the ancestors of the modern Irish. It is said that in a peace accord the Tuatha De went underground, (thus the people of the mounds) or into the hills and hidden valleys, etc.
While the Gaels or Milesians are known to be actual people that lived in historical times, the Tuatha De are viewed as being a mythological people. But we ask: if the Tuatha De Danann didn’t exist then how did the Gaels overcome them in battle? Did they just make up a story about what great conquerors they were without actually fighting anyone? At the same time, we know that there were people in Ireland prior to the coming of the Gaels. That has been verified by genetics and archeology.
In modern times, the Irish are known to be a mixture genetically of various races including earlier stone age peoples that were there long before the Gaels. We think it possible that the notion that we elfae folk are allergic to iron comes from the fact that the Celts had iron weapons and may have overcome earlier stone age peoples who didn’t have iron. Those earlier peoples would surely have been fae peoples, at least to our minds, and certainly so according to the legends and mythology of the Irish.
Also, genetically, the Irish are closely related to the Scots and the Welsh, but also, and this is quite significant to our minds, to the Basque peoples of Northern Spain, who we see as one of the oldest elvish cultures of Europe. The Basque not only are known historically to have existed, like the Celtic tribal peoples, but continue to exist as a people and culture in the world.
So, to our own elvish minds, not only were the people of Ireland who lived there previous to the coming of the Gaels, fae peoples but we also see the Gaels and Celts overall as being elfae folk. This is not so much a matter of genetics really but of spirit. For, while we find genetics fascinating, our elvish nature is really a matter of culture to our minds and our peoples come from various genetic lineages.
The Celts, for instance, were noted for believing in and telling tales about we fae folk. It is often concluded that the Celts weren’t fae, because they believed in the fae, and because, as we pointed out, they were a historical people and thus de facto cannot be a mythological people as we elfae are seen to be according to the beliefs of Men. However, we are elves who also tell tales about elves and faeries and believe in elves and faeries and otherkin in our various forms and manifestations and we are living peoples in modern times, just as the Celts were. Men think we cannot be elfae folk because to their thinking our kind are fantasy beings, but we are of the opinion that the fact that there are myths about us and legends and lore and fantasies, doesn’t preclude us from being the very real elfae that we are. We may not live up to all their expectations and notions about us, but that doesn’t mean we don’t exist, only that we don’t exist in the way they think we should be according to their myths and legends and fantasies.
And, we elfae, for the most part, love the Celtic tribal peoples, although the name Celt comes from a Greek word Keltoi meaning ‘barbarian’ (wild but not uncultured really) or ‘outsider’ (in contrast to Men, then yes and nearly always) or possibly ‘to cover or hide’ (thus the hidden peoples, much like we elfae are thought to be) ‘to heat’, or ‘to impel’ (the power of magic). We love Celtic culture, we love their love of triplicities, we love Celtic Knot work designs and their colorful dress. The fact that they were ‘headhunters’ is only to say that none or few of our ancestors were perfect. Certainly, we aren’t, although we aren’t headhunters. We’ve chilled quite a bit since then.
When our various kindred answer our tribe questionnaire, in which we Silver Elves create a narrative about their particular elfin, faerie or other tribe (see our four books Elf Tribes; Faerie, Fae and Otherkin Tribes; Elves, Faerie, Fae and Otherkin Tribes; and Elfae Tribes), we have found that at least a quarter to a third of the respondents put down Celts in response to the question “what people does your tribe most resemble?” So, from our point of view, the Celts are and were elfae folk and if they didn’t have that understanding of thems’elves at the time, we are more than happy to adopt them. For whatever our genetic makeup and background, many of us modern elfae peoples look at the ancient Celts and cannot help but feel, those are our fae peoples. We are descended from them in spirit, if not genetics, and we are now headhunters in the modern sense of that word as being people on the lookout for individuals of talent and ability, which is to say other elfae.

For listening to the wisdom of the trees . . . .
An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid: The Ogham of the Elves Using Elvish Wizard Script by The Silver Elves. “An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid can be used as an oracle. Perhaps, that is its chief purpose. That is up to you, really. For our own part in writing it, we learned a great deal about the tree families of the world and for us that was wonderful. We love trees. Not that we’ll remember it all or even most of it. But a passing acquaintance is nice. This book is a way, in a sense, of listening to the trees. It is not the same as being out in the trees and feeling their radiant and wondrous presence, nor ingesting some of the herbs that plants and trees use to enlighten us. However, not all of us, in the modern world, can be among the trees regularly or as much as we would like and this tome is, in that sense, designed to express their voice in the form of an oracle for those of us who are unable at present to spend a great deal of time among them. Although, in our hearts and imaginations, we are ever surrounded by the forest. And in that sense, this book is a forest, an elven woodland, an elvish glade, a living book of tree lore.”

Through The Mists of Faerie:
A Magical Guide to the Wisdom Teachings of the Ancient Elven
—Excerpt from page 26 of Through The Mists of Faerie by The Silver Elves.
“Elfin, Faerie, Elfland or the Sacred Realm or Dimension of Magic that lives at the heart of the Universe, is an incredibly attractive power. It draws all true souls to it. It calls to the Elfin nature in each and every soul. This is the power that arouses the imagination of those who see or read the Lord of the Rings and say, I’m an Elf or I’m a Dwarf, or even I’m an Orc. The power calls to us through Urban Fantasy stories and the fantasy novels of old, as well as, faery tales and movies of magic and enchantment. But it also calls to us from the trees, the wild places of Nature, and sometimes most of all from magic memories of our childhood, which is really our ancient past, our past incarnations, calling to us. It can also be aroused, and quite strongly, perhaps most strongly, by others of our kind manifesting in the world. There is something magical about these beings and they arouse our own hunger for magic in our own lives and souls. These Elfae radiate starlight. They glimmer with love, kindness and compassion; and they reach out and touch our souls. Some might suppose this to be a glamor, a magic they have wrapped thems’elves within to enchant us; but while they are truly enchanting, the magic arises from the fact that they are genuine and real. They don’t need to glamor us. They just need to be their very own s’elves, for that is the most impressive magic of all. They are not trying, they are simply being: being thems’elves, being elves.”

Jesus Christ Elf Lord: The Faerie Foundations of Christianity, Book One
Jesus Christ Elf Lord:
The Faerie Foundations of Christianity, Book One
We Silver Elves are happy to announce that we just published our 66th book on the Elven Way, Elfin Life and Magic, titled Jesus Christ Elf Lord: The Faerie Foundations of Christianity, Book One.
“People sometimes pray for the elves
and we, for our own part, wish them well.
We may not fulfill their prayers,
but we may just grant their wishes.”

In JESUS CHRIST ELF LORD: The Faerie Foundations of Christianity, Book One, we Silver Elves explore the connection and links between Christianity and the Elven Way, and the link between Jesus (in particular) and the ancient elvish peoples and cultures. We also explore in what ways modern elves might (if that is their inclination) practice both Christianity and the Elven Way without the two of them being in conflict with each other. In doing so, we will explore mostly the New Testament and the ideas there but also the Old Testament as well, since many modern Christians (as well as Christians through the ages despite the fact that Jesus proclaimed he was bringing them a New Testament) still reference the Old Testament as a guide for their beliefs, faith and behavior when it is convenient for them to do so. We shall embrace the same convenience here in this book.
However, it should also be noted that we Silver Elves are not only ‘not Christians’, we are also not experts on Christianity, nor make any claim to being so. Our concern is ever with our elfae peoples and their success and progress in the world and the realization of Elfin upon the Earth. Our point of view presented in this book is our own, although it has been as you will see, informed by various other authors and scholarly texts.
Many people come to the Elven Way, the Path of the Elves, and see thems’elves as elves, faeries, or otherkin of some type and yet still very much wish to continue to practice and belief in the religion they have been practicing up until this point. The reasons for this may be varied and we cannot say exactly why this is the case or if the motivation is the same for everyone. However, there is nothing about the Elven Way and its practice, unlike many religious beliefs, that would make one have to choose between being on the Elvish Path or practicing one’s chosen or inherited religious beliefs.
Jesus Christ Elf Lord, Book One deals primarily with the Christian faith and its various sects and religious beliefs and with those elfae folk who wish to practice both the Elven Way and Christianity. The reason for this is because, as we will explore here in this book, Christianity is really a syncretic religion. It was greatly influenced and arose out of Judaism (since Jesus was Jewish by descent not a Christian), which itself was greatly influenced by the beliefs and practices of the ancient Egyptians and the Zoroastrians of Persia. However, as Christianity moved into the West it encountered and in some ways incorporated Pagan beliefs as well as established (or at least its practitioners did) a relationship with the ancient Fairy Faith of the Celtic (and other) Peoples. It was the goal of the Christian faiths to absorb the Faerie Faith, but we Silver Elves believe and show in this book, that the opposite is more likely to happen in the long run and it is we Faerie and Elfin and the journey upon the Elfin Path that will absorb and incorporate Christianity.

Below are two excerpts from the book Jesus Christ Elf Lord:
“”Faerie Cross”“Staurolite stones are often referred to as Fairy Crosses and can be found in Switzerland, Russia, Australia, Brazil and the eastern United States. They develop into a natural cross when they are formed (not always a perfect cross, sometimes more of an ‘x’ but a cross nonetheless) and because of their cross structure, they are often also associated with Jesus and the cross he was crucified upon, which is so popular among Christians. Some say that they are called Faerie Crosses or Fairy Crosses because the faeries wept when Jesus was crucified (we bet they did) and their tears formed these stones, not only in Europe apparently, but all the way to the Americas that hadn’t even been discovered yet by the Pagan Norse or the later Christians and which was inhabited exclusively at that time by the First Nations Peoples. Although, we fae do sometimes engage in a form of long-distance telepathy, so it wasn’t entirely out of the question that the Faeries of Europe telegraphed (so to speak) their mourning for Jesus across the Atlantic to the faeries here who we imagine probably responded by saying, “Who’s Jesus?” And the Faeries of Europe replied, “We’ll explain when we get there.””
“This association of faeries and Christianity, in the persona of Jesus (the favorite god form of Christianity), is interesting to us. We cannot know exactly how it came about, although the symbolic link between a cross and Jesus is fairly clear. But how did the Faeries come to be associated with the cross?”
“It is, of course, possible that the link between Jesus and the Faeries, via this stone, happened sometime later, after the rise of Christianity among those who still believed in the Fairy Faith in order to make the transition to Christianity more acceptable to those believers and who, in some cases, still told tales of their experiences with the faerie folk. Although, honestly, we think this is rather unlikely.”
“Instead, we are of the opinion, although it is only a hypothesis that we have no way to confirm really, that Staurolite stones were already called Fairy stones and seen as having mystical power before the coming of Christianity and that those who converted to Christianity carried this belief over with them, linking it to Jesus as a way of merging their religious and their ancestral mystical (or what people would call superstitious or magical) beliefs together. Although, for our own part, we don’t really see a great deal of difference (and they probably didn’t either) in believing in faeries and believing in Jesus, except that, let’s face it, faeries are a lot more fun for the most part (well, for us anyway, for some others, less so). Although, if you have a party and run out of liquor, Jesus is the guy to call.”
“But if we accept the idea that faeries were already associated with this stone and it was called the fairy stone before the rise of Christianity, how would that be possible since clearly the cross is linked to Jesus? Why would faeries be seen as being linked to a stone cross?”
“The fact is that the cross, in the form of the crossroads, either in a more exact cross similar to the one Jesus was crucified on or one that is like an ‘x’, has long been associated with the supernatural or, we might say, Nature in its mystical and magical state (since we Silver Elves don’t really believe in supernatural other than the way that say Einstein believed that the laws of Nature and the Universe that apply upon the Earth don’t necessarily apply out in the cosmos). Supernatural to us is higher Nature or more subtle Nature but it is still part of the natural world and as such can be discovered, understood and worked with. This is, after all, the basic underlying theory of magic and illuminates our ability to transform our lives and our world through magic.”
“Of course, these days, the crossroads are often associated with making a deal with the devil or some demon in exchange for some ability or power. However, that is also due to the influence of Christianity that presented we elfae folk as being demons or fallen angels, who are not so bad as to deserve hell but too incorrigible to remain in heaven (see Fairy Faith in the Celtic Countries by Evans Wentz and Strange Terrain by Barbara Rieti).”
“But prior to Christianity, there weren’t any demons, per se (there were, however, Greek Daemons or inspiring spirits who were not necessarily evil), there were also Monsters and surely fae sorts that were deemed in Scottish (Gaels, again) lore to be Unseelie or predatory and hostile toward Mankind. And, often, even the best of us elfae were seen as being temperamental, unpredictable and prone to be tricky. But it was we elfae folk (not demons) who granted wishes or musical talent or other abilities in tales and lore about us in the pre-Christian times and sometimes thereafter (which would make us more like daemons). And we didn’t do that in exchange for someone’s soul, as is said to be the case in Christian lore, but in thanks for them having helped us, or in exchange for saving us when they seemed inclined to do otherwise, or most often, just because we happened to find the individual pleasing and wished to uplift them due to our love and admiration for their being.”
“And this was not to ensnare their souls in order to drag them down to suffer in hell forever. Although, we are sometimes said to keep them enchanted in Faerie, which can be a place of endless wonder. But enchanted is the operational word here and Faerie is hardly hell (although it has sometimes been associated with the underworld, the world of the dead) and once having tasted the fruits of Faerie, and all its delights, as the lore tells us, who would wish to return to the normal world anyway?”
Elf Cross“The Elf Cross is found on round silver amulets that are supposed to be worn around one’s neck. This was a tradition that could be found in southern Sweden and in Denmark, and was mostly popular in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. The elf cross amulet was believed to be able to prevent and cure diseases.”
“Of course, since we elves and fae are sometimes accused of causing illnesses, via elf shot, elf wind (caused, it is said, by our bad breath, now that’s a bit rude) or elf blast and other means it is quite possible that the elf cross was an apotropaic magic used to ward off elfin magic in the same way that a cross is sometimes shown to ward off vampires. Since the use of this elf cross is more recent and occurred well after the acceptance of Christianity in Sweden and Denmark, this would seem to be a logical explanation.”
“However, notice that the Elf Cross, like the Staurolite Faerie Cross stone, is an equal armed cross and not a cross, as the Christian cross is, that has a vertical bar that is longer than the horizonal bar. And where the crossing bar is near the top on the Christian cross, on the Elf Cross it is exactly in the middle of each bar so there is only the vaguest resemblance with the Christian cross. Besides, if they wished to have a Christian cross to ward off us elfae folk, why didn’t they just use the ones that they already had hanging in their churches and homes? Which so many people today wear as an evocative or invocative amulet around their necks. This would seem to be a far more logical custom if, in fact, the Elf Cross was meant to be the Christian cross and was meant to keep one safe, as a Christian soul, from we elfae folk, who are sometimes said to be ‘soulless’ beings (inaccurate and also a bit rude).”
“The fact that it is formed like the Fairy Cross is rather suggestive to us of the possibility that this cross was not meant as an amulet to ward off elfin magic but rather to evoke it while, at the same time, appearing to go along with the Christian populace and their prejudices. In an area where Fairy Crosses were not so available, this would be a practical hedgewitch solution to the problem.”
“And note that the Elven Star, which was introduced to the otherkin and fae community by the Elf Queen’s Daughters in their Elf Magic Mail (see our two books, vol. 1 & vol. 2, of that title) back in the 1970s and which we passed on in our own Magical Elven Love Letters (see our three vols. of those letters) is now commonly referred to as the Fairy Star, which is a bit of an inversion of the movement from Fairy Cross to Elf Cross if our assumption is correct.”
“At the same time, there is no question that on the outside of the cross between the arms and sometimes on the back as well, were inscribed Jesus’ name as well as other Christian evocations. Which suggests to us that this may not have been a rejection of Christianity nor of the Faerie/Elfin faith, but rather a merging of the two, which is really the theme of this book. They wished to evoke Elfin magic but didn’t wish to reject Jesus in doing so but to include him. Which considering his elven heritage from the Scythians (see The Realms of the Rings Lords by Laurence Gardner) and relationship therefore to the Sidhe of Ireland was quite perceptive of them in a sort of intuitive, psychic and mystical way.”
“Like the Fairy Cross, the Elf Cross to us indicates the mystical, magical crossroads where the otherworldly and the normal world encounter each other or perhaps where the Christian and the Faerie world come together. To wear an Elf Cross would be to summon a meeting at the crossroads, a meeting between the world of possibility and the world of material realization. It is a place of opportunity where one may take another road, perhaps that ‘road less traveled’, meet someone of significance that would bring healing and magic into one’s life and even perhaps lead one to an adventure, or at least the possibility of embarking upon an adventure. However, like Frodo and Bilbo, one still has a choice whether one wishes to seize the opportunity or not. Not all of us are looking to go adventuring. Some of us are quite happy to stay comfortably at home.”
“Remember, as well, that the Elf Cross, as it was traditionally made, was engraved upon a silver circle. Silver has ever been associated with the elfin, far more than gold, which is so desired by men, and the circle is, as always, an association with the Faerie Circle. If this cross was meant to protect one from elves, especially from water elves, which is to say Unseelie nixies as the traditions have it, why make it of silver in a circle? And yet, there is no question that some did, in fact, use this as a ward against elf folk, although we also have to remember that elves, faeries, fae, nixies, dwarfs, etc. were all designations that were frequently used interchangeably (see The Hidden History of Elves & Dwarfs by Claude Lecouteux) and we Seelie elves and fae were often lumped in with the Unseelie in many people’s minds. All fae, to the minds or some people, are untrustworthy.”
“Interestingly, by tradition, the silver for this amulet was to be begged from one’s neighbors according to certain specific rules and made and delivered to one following designated ceremonies (magic). It could not be bought or sold and often the person was supposed to keep it and wear it to their grave. Was that to keep them from going to Faerie after their death, as some lore has it, or to increase their odds of getting there? And while silver is wonderful, certainly we elfin hedge-witches could and would make an Elf Cross amulet on whatever material we found or had available (see our book Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic). This would be particularly nice for those elves who wished to merge their elvish being with the practice of their Christian faith. But non-Christian elfin could also wear an elf cross with other spirits’ names or sigils, rather than Christian ones, inscribed between the arms.”
“It is possible, and we very much like this idea, that the Elf Cross was used or certainly could be used as a ward against Unseelie elfin magics, while at the same time evocating bright and positive Seelie elvish magics. That notion certainly appeals to our own elvish minds. Dark Magics be gone; Bright Magics come on.”

Who Are the True Elves?
. . . . if you dedicate your life and magic to being the elfae that you inwardly know yours’elf to be, then there is nothing more that you need do. For none can be truer elves than those who are true to their own s’elves and to Elfin.
We encountered a post on Facebook that stated: “The Quendi are the true elves as opposed to those elfin who have become like men and ape in their ways.” Quendi, of course, is from Tolkien’s writings and is often used as a synonym for the world Eldar and both are translated as elves. However, they are often distinguished from the Moriquendi, or Dark Elves, who in Tolkien’s mythology never saw the light of Valinor as the Quendi did. Thus, we might say that the Moriquendi were dark elves, not because they were evil, but because they were, in a sense, more attuned to the material world, as opposed to the more ‘spiritual’ or ethereal worlds, the worlds of light that the Quendi had experienced and returned to.
First, we should remind our readers that we Silver Elves are not experts on Tolkien’s lore, even though we have read quite a bit of his work. Using the word scholar in reference to us, which has been done from time to time, is probably a bit of a hyperbole, and while some of us Silver Elves might be thought of as scholars in reference to certain fields of study, we certainly are not qualified to be considered scholars of Tolkien’s works. Although, we are aware that Tolkien had a variety of elven types beyond the Quendi and Moriquendi, such as the Avari, who declined to return to Valinor, and were also called the ‘refusers’; the Úmanyar who began the journey to Valinor but didn’t complete it; and the Nandor, who didn’t even dare to cross the ‘Misty Mountains’, with various sub-divisions thereof.
When we observe our elvish world as it exists in our lives, we can see a reflection of all this in those who consider thems’elves to be ‘high elves’ and ‘star seeds’ who are rather like the Quendi in that way and often look upon thems’elves as being spiritually superior to those of us who are lesser elfin, or everyday elves, or downhome elves, or down to earth elfae as we Silver Elves are. In that same way, we Silver Elves have ever been more inclined toward being hedge-witches than a part of any formal coven or tradition of witchcraft.
At the same time, we have also encountered this idea that some elves are true elves and others not so much, among those who assert that they are genetically elven, or elven by family lineage, while we continue to express the opinion that what makes a person an elf or faerie or whatever has to do with their spirit and magic. This is to say, they wish to be elfae, they live their lives as elfae, and thus they are, by manifesting acts of magic, elfin. Being elfin is what makes one elfin. Which doesn’t discount the notion that people could be genetically descended from the Sidhe or other fae, but it doesn’t exclude others who have chosen to reincarnate in a different genetic lineage in this lifetime. Curiously, this view of ours is more spiritual and magical in nature, while the genetic argument is more materially oriented, in contrast to those who see thems’elves as starseeds who seem more inclined toward our view in that way.
There are also those who have taken exception to our use of the word ‘we’ when we write, thinking we are using it as the ‘royal’ we, and thus putting ours’elves up as ‘high elves’ or true elves over those lesser elves. But, in fact, since all elfae folk are royal beings, we could, anyone of us, legitimately, use the ‘royal’ we. However, the reality is that there are more than one of us Silver Elves, thus when we use that pronoun we are doing so in its traditional form of being the ‘plural’ version of I.
Simultaneously, unlike most modern elfae folk and many of our ancestors through the centuries we expect, we Silver Elves are not trying to leave or abandon the material realm or Earth dimension and flee to Faerie or Elfland or Valinor. Although we surely understand and sympathize with those who wish to do so. This world is crazy with its wars and conflicts and global climate change and the prejudices people hold for other peoples and the rampant exploitation of Nature. It is almost as if we were living in Middle-earth.
And yet, we are still of a mind that it is our duty and mission to manifest here as best we may. To establish Elfin upon the Earth and transform the planet back into the paradise it was always meant to be. In that way, we are rather like Tolkien’s Avari elves. We are somewhat hardheaded that way. We refuse to give up. Although, we might also be like the Nando, simply too afraid of the unknown to try. Either way, we are here until Fate and Destiny and Nature remove us. And then, surely, if possible, we will come back again. We are hardheaded that way.
However, we don’t look upon our point of view as being inherently superior to others. It is just the way we have chosen. And all elves, who truly strive to express their elfin natures are true elves as far as we are concerned.
It is true that some individuals of our kindred are more inclined to mimic Man and their kind and accept their values and ways of being. And it is possible that they will fade from Elfin and Faerie in time and join Men as one of their own. But that is only if that is what is truly in their hearts. And surely all of us have to make compromises to live in this world. That’s just the way it is. But still, beloved, if you are true to Elfin and Faerie in your heart and soul, they will never forget you. And if you dedicate your life and magic to being the elfae that you inwardly know yours’elf to be, then there is nothing more that you need do. For none can be truer elves than those who are true to their own s’elves and to Elfin.

A few enchanting elf quotes from within the book Seeing Faerie:
—“Some wander into Faerie not knowing what they seek, just that something draws them here of which they cannot speak, and as their eyes do sparkle with the wonder of it all, memories of a world deemed lost upon their thoughts do fall.”
—“The Elves Say that if the sun shines on you, shine back.”
—“Fae touched and Elven blest, Nature will do all the rest.”
—“Gaze through the dull glamor of dust and despair and you will find Faerie awaiting you there.”
—“We sing to the forest, we sing to the night,
we sing to the elf folk who make the world bright.
We sing to the stars, we sing to the moon,
we sing as we dance for Faerie comes soon.”
. . . . . an elven song
—“Listen to the forest sing and you will find your heart take wing, the Song of Elfin lingers there of life among the people fair.”

Is Faerie Lore Fading from the World?
“. . . . the notion that the oral tradition concerning faerie lore and encounters with fae will disappear altogether, seems unlikely to us Silver Elves. While people don’t gather in their homes in community groups in the evenings as much as they once did, faerie tales still continue in literature and books, such as our own about elfae culture and others’ books as well that frequently concern faerie seers of various sorts and their own beliefs and experiences with we fae folk. Although, usually their experiences are with our more imaginal and ephemeral and ethereal kindred. . . . . . . In fact, we not only have no concern about the loss of faerie tradition and lore due to the cessation of the oral tradition as it once existed, but are rather of the opinion that modern forms of media have in fact expanded the area over which faerie lore can be shared as well as expanding the potential audience as well.”
The book Strange Terrain by Barbara Rieti is a scholarly exploration of Faerie lore as it existed, was experienced, and was passed on in Newfoundland. In it the author posits the question about whether Faerie Lore will continue to exist in the future. This is partly because Faerie lore and the passing on of tales about encounters with we fae was mostly carried on by oral tradition back in the days before radio or television and seemed to be decreasing as people stayed in their homes and watched tv in the evenings instead of gathering together, as they used to do in small communities, to listen to various tales for entertainment.
Also, the influence of modern scientific thinking, as meager as it is as yet, has also, as we’ve pointed out in other of our books and as both Barbara Rieti and Janice Bord in her book Fairies indicate has led to the idea of encounters with faeries being replaced by encounters with aliens from outer space. Although, in fact, the essence of these tales are, as both authors point out, quite similar. This is so much so that those who believe in aliens would surely suggest that what were thought of as faeries in the past were, in fact, space aliens and those who believe in faeries, well, still believe in faeries along with the possibility of aliens. We elfae tend to be a more open minded and less fanatical lot, although there are exceptions surely on both sides of this equation.
For our own part, we Silver Elves believe all of the above. We, of course, believe in faeries, since we are fae folk ours’elves. So that goes almost without saying. And while, as far as we know, we haven’t had any encounters with aliens from outer space, we don’t discount that possibility either. Especially, as it seems extremely probable that such beings exist considering the vastness of the Universe. But at the same time, we live in such a rural backwater of the galaxy and the distance between us and other solar systems is so vast, it seems unlikely, although possible, that anyone has stumbled upon us except by accident. And, we suspect, having observed how primitive mankind is overall, they would be unlikely to return.
However, the notion that the oral tradition concerning faerie lore and encounters with fae will disappear altogether, seems unlikely to us.
Also, while the oral tradition itself has given way to a more permanent accounting of such tales now set down in print, it has survived rather well on the internet and in social media, which is rather like the oral tradition in the sense that the tales and experiences passed on are less likely to be permanently recorded (or remembered exactly) and most likely to be altered as they pass from one teller to another, which is one of the earmarks of the oral tradition.
In fact, we not only have no concern about the loss of faerie tradition and lore due to the cessation of the oral tradition as it once existed, but are rather of the opinion that modern forms of media have in fact expanded the area over which faerie lore can be shared as well as expanding the potential audience as well.
It is true that many folk, as was the case with the oral tradition, merely pass on what they have heard and their own experiences conform with traditional lore to the point that they cannot consider or experience other possibilities, but that has always been the case.
We Silver Elves and others of our kindred, on the other hand, take a fresh look at the lore and understand it from our own lives (see our books Illuminating Faerie; Faerie Fae and Otherkin Tribes; and The Elven Way), our own experiences with various elfae sorts we know and have known. And this includes those manifest in humanoid bodies, as we are, and those more ethereal fae that we’ve encountered from time to time as well.
We need not fear that faerie lore and tradition will be replaced entirely by alien encounters, any more than we should fear that fantasy will give way utterly to science fiction. In fact, in some faerie lore the ancient Scythians came from the Anunnaki who were aliens from space, thus uniting us with alien lore (see The Realm of the Ring Lords by Laurence Gardner).
They both have their audiences and certainly there is an overlap between them. As long as Faerie calls to the hearts of us and our kindred, and others in the world, such as St. Tolkien, tales of Faerie will continue and we expect, more than likely increase. For we are far from done here, and in many ways, just beginning.

Elfin Totem Animals: An Elven Oracle for Finding Your Power Familiar
This book is found here on Amazon US:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJPVB3N9
And here on Amazon UK:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BJPVB3N9
We Silver Elves are excited to announce the publication of ELFIN TOTEM ANIMALS: An Elven Oracle for Finding Your Power Familiar!
We have dedicated this book with much love and appreciation to all our therian and mythical animal kindred who have been such supportive members of our Facebook group “United Otherkin Alliance”.
ELFIN TOTEM ANIMALS: An Elven Oracle for Finding Your Power Familiar will assist you in exploring a deeper magical relationship to both animals of the wild as well as mythical animals. This book is written from an elven perspective, and you will find reading it to be helpful to use as a magical guide if you: 1.) already know your totem animal or familiar and wish to find out more about what magical powers they bring you; 2.) want to find out who/what your totem animal is and what/how this animal is influencing your life; 3.) wish to use this book as an oracle reading to find out what animal energy has come to you in your life in the past or is needed in the present and future for healing and success; 4.) wish to understand the magical meaning of an animal dream symbol that you have experienced; or 5.) would like to understand the meaning and magic in your life of an animal you have encountered other than your familiar.
While animals can be differentiated in a number of ways, we have divided them here in this book into six basic groups or classes of animals in keeping with the most accepted scientific differentiation. These are Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Fish. To these, we have also added an entire chapter of numerous Mythical animals for several reasons. First, as elfae folk we love the number seven. It is a particularly magical number to us but then all numbers are magical in their own way. Also, while Mythical animals are not known to exist as physical creatures upon the Earth, although some of us still hold that they may still exist, many elfae have mythical animals as totems, just as Scotland has the unicorn as its national animal and Thailand the Garuda bird.
There are oracles for over 250 animals in this book. You will find that we have included in many of the animal families further subdivisions. Thus, if your totem is a bear, or you receive bear as a response to an inquiry of the oracle, you will notice that within the section on bears there are different species of bears. For instance, there are grizzly bears and brown bears and black bears and polar bears and so on, each with their variation upon the main theme of bear energy and symbology. Just as in our elfae world, there are elves, faeries, pixies, brownies, gnomes and other fae beings. But, this further sub-division takes place in this book more for the mammals than for fish, insects, etc. because the vast majority of our readers will have mammals as their totems.
The directions for using this book as an oracle guide are clearly written in the introduction of the book and further assistance is given throughout the book to make it easy. So it will be fun for you to use! All you will need to cast an oracle to read from this book will be a regular playing deck of cards and a few dice (this is also explained in the book).
Our link to animal totems is both ancient and quite powerful and surely extends back into prehistory and our elven ancestors in more shamanistic times. For we elfae folk, the future is in many ways more important than the past. Our heritage is important to us, surely, and we love much of the ancient lore in as much as it is a true reflection of our elvish beings and culture. However, we are ever striving through the present to step into the future, to become those elfae spirits we feel ours’elves to be, aspire toward being, feel destined to be and act in such ways as to manifest in reality and through magic our true s’elves actuating our potential and manifesting Elfin and Faerie upon the Earth. And certainly, totem animals are one way to do this.

The Silver Elves
ITALIAN WOLVES
“These wolves can be found living in the alps of northern Italy, in Switzerland and southwestern France. They are integral to the Italian culture, featuring as the wolves who in legend took part of the founding of Rome. They are also the national animal of Italy. These wolves are different from the common European wolf. They tend to be smaller and have teeth that are more like those of a dog or a golden jackal. However, they are genetically different from other wolves and dogs. These are a unique folk and, in that sense, very elvish.”
“If you have this wolf folk as your totem animal then know that you are a special sort of elfae being, both like and unlike others of our kind. You are something special. However, what constitutes that specialness may not be clear. There is something ancient in your being and you need to look to the ancients and the ancestors to truly understand. Yours is the old magic, the ancient magic, the magic that was before history.”
If you get this as an oracle:
“Simply, be your own s’elf. Some people may think you are like everyone else but they are wrong. But you don’t need to point that out to them. Let them think what they will. Inwardly, know that you are special and if some people feel a bit uneasy around you because they feel you are different but can’t quite figure out how, soothe them and give them a smile and go on your way. Look to the ancients and the ancient magic to help you resolve the situation you are asking about. Old magic, folk magic, what many consider superstitious practices, passed on to you by your parents or grandparents, may serve you well here.”
*
POLAR BEAR
“While the Polar Bear is kin to the Brown Bear, it is actually the largest existent bear species today, as well as, the largest carnivore on land. However, the Polar Bear, unlike other bears, is a marine mammal and listed in that way along with seals, dolphins, whales, porpoises and other mammals that survive along and upon the seas. This should include fishermen and merchant marines as far as we elves are concerned. Also, Polar Bears survive in a very narrow and cold ecological niche and this, besides their white fur, makes them rather special as bears who have adapted to living fulltime among the ice and snow. Theirs is a magic that is apart from the normal world. They survive where few others can and that is great magic, indeed. If this is your totem than you can do this as well.”
If you get this as an oracle:
“Then the solution to the question you asked is to find a niche where your special abilities and talents will be successful and productive. You don’t need to fit into the world at large, you just need to find a corner of the world, even if it is a narrow corner, a small space where you can thrive and where your particular work, magic or style will be appreciated. Also, if you must be in the world, take on some of the jobs no one else wishes to do and master them. In this way, you will become indispensable.”
*
PELICANS, HERONS, HAMMERKOPS, SPOONBILLS, SHOE-BILL STOCKS AND IBISES
“These are medium to large water birds. Their nostrils have evolved into small slits, so they need to breathe through their mouths (mouth breathers). They have webbed toes. They nest in colonies but are monogamous in individual association. Their young, like those of humans, are born naked and helpless and need feeding and care until fledged. Ibises have long been associated with magic and mystery. Pelicans are often seen to be humble and generous. They do not ‘hog’ their food or eat more than they need. Herons are frequently seen as indicating prosperity. Spoonbills can indicate strength and freedom and the ability to sweep obstacles out of their way. Some African tribes saw the Hammerkop as being a ‘lighting bird’ bringing revelation. Shoebill Stocks are often seen as having a supernatural ability to detect danger and the power and purity to overcome evil.”
“If this is your totem, then you are surely a magical wielder and/or a mystic of some sort. That leads some people to believe you are not as intelligent as they are or as you really are, because your belief in and experience with the supernatural is beyond their understanding. You, naturally, ignore them and pay no heed to their ignorance.”
If you get this as an oracle:
“Use your magic for the good. Overcome evil, create prosperity for yours’elf and others and then good luck will come to you and you will fall under the protection of the Shining Ones. It may seem like this situation calls for you to do something material but really magic and spells are the key to succeeding here.”
*
And for an excerpt example of a MYTHICAL ANIMAL oracle included:
CHIMERA
“The Chimera is a being that is usually depicted as having the body of a lion with the head of a goat protruding from its back, and its tail often ends with a snake’s head. Because of this the term chimera has come to be used to designate any mythical or fictional creature with its parts taken from a variety of animals. By extension, from that idea, it is used to describe anything that is made of disparate parts, or anything that is generally accorded to be outlandishly imaginative, to be implausible or, at the same time, dazzling in its contradictions or incongruities.”
“If this is your totem, then you are a puzzle to most people. You have a wide range of varied experiences, have probably lived in different cultures all over the place and are simply hard to define or categorize. You probably seem strange to them but fascinating at the same time. If you are of elfae being, you are most likely a combination of myriad fae types, some of which may seem contradictory.”
If you get this as an oracle:
“You are probably going to have to patch together a number of different things to make this situation work. This is a jerry-rig situation and the solution is not to be found in a single act or a simple series of actions but in trying a number of different things and seeing which work and which don’t and continuing on with those that do, which in themselves may prove to be quite disparate. But if you wish to succeed here, that’s what it takes. And, remember, the tried and true just isn’t going to work in these circumstances. You will be forced to think ‘out of the box’ if you wish to resolve this situation.”
— End of excerpts from ELFIN TOTEM ANIMALS: An Elven Oracle for Finding Your Power Familiar
“Everyone has two beasts in them.
One is a dragon of immense power.
The other is a Unicorn of great goodness.
You must feed them equally lest great power should arise
without goodness or goodness be rendered powerless.”

“Elves value the advice of animals as much as
that of humans,
sometimes more since animals
don’t tend to lie to us.”
—Ancient Knowledge of the Elven Shamans
“We elves don’t just have dogs, cats, peacocks or other beings as companions. We have elf hounds, elf cats, elf peacocks and various other magical elfae incarnated into animal forms as our friends. Ours is a very diverse culture and our understanding of Life and Nature is wide.”

Do we elfae folk tend to travel and migrate a lot?
In her book The Lore Of Old Elfland, Linda Raedisch states that we elf folk have a tendency to travel a lot and migrate frequently. So, we Silver Elves asked ours’elves, as we do with nearly everything anyone states about we elfae folk, is that true?
Historically, or at least according to much of the lore, this is indeed the case. The Fir Blogs, the Tuatha De Danann, the Nemedians, and later the Celtic Gaels, also known as the Milesians or Sons of Mil, and even the more shadowy and mythical peoples that the Christian monks named the Cessair and the people of Partholón all migrated to Ireland from elsewhere as noted in the Book of Invasions or Lebor Gabála Érenn. Both Laurence Gardner in his book the Realm of the Ring Lords and Nicolas De Vere in The Dragon Legacy confirm this with as much historical data as they could muster as they also link those peoples to the Scythians (upon whom many of the ancient legends of elves or Sidhe are said to be based), to the ancient Hebrews and to the Egyptians. The link between the ancient Irish, especially the Gaels and the Egyptians, seems also to have been confirmed by recent archeological findings in Ireland.
The reason for these migrations, however, is another matter and may very well have to do with the various invasions by the pastural peoples with their dominating and power-over cultures spreading into the more agricultural areas of the world (see Sacred Pleasure by Riane Eisler for more on this) as well as destroying the forests and pushing out our woodland dwelling ancestors. It is quite possible that the reason for these migrations had to do with those people fleeing from invasion and oppression by others, only to run into conflict with those who were already in the areas they wished to inhabit. Which would mean that traveling and migration are not necessarily inherent to our elfae natures but a result of the circumstances our ancestors were confronting in their world.
But here we are presented with the question: is travel or migration part of our nature and not just a result of oppressive conditions in the world?
We do know from faerie lore that there are what are called Trooping Faeries, who seem to spend their lives traveling from place to place, rather as is imagined to be the case with the Romany folk who are popularly called ‘Gypsies’, a term that in our experience the Romany both reject and embrace … not wanting it as a description of themselves but often not wanting anyone else to use it for themselves either. Although, while the Romany have been known to travel about, not all of them are migratory. And, of course, there is a branch of these people who call themselves Travelers, but who often have a base or community that they travel to and from as they go out into the world to ply their particular trades. And while there may be trooping faeries that doesn’t mean that all faeries travel around constantly.
And there is the fact that in Ireland there is lore about avoiding building one’s home or some other structure upon a faerie road, thus obstructing it, and the bad luck that comes to one for violating this prohibition. Blocking a faerie road is the energic equivalent of going out to your local road and building a house or parking your van or bus in the middle of it so that no one could pass. You would be towed away quickly and probably be fined or arrested but the idea is essentially the same. However, just because there are roads doesn’t mean that these spirits don’t have homes, communities or mounds that they dwell within. Nearly all of us, to some extent, have to travel about if only to go to work or the neighborhood stores or to visit our friends and often all three.
There is also the famous Faerie Rade where we elfae travel about the country to see what is out there, but that is really a periodic thing and more on the lines of a road trip than a continual peregrination, although it sometimes seems to have the overtones of a parade, showing who we are to the world.
However, in examining such things, we Silver Elves don’t just consider the ancient lore in order to understand our elvish natures and cultures but we also always take a look at our own s’elves and our kindred and how we behave in the world.
In our own lives, one of us Silver Elves has moved nearly thirty-five times in their life and the other over seventy-five times. Also, we have lived in vans and buses and traveled to and fro across the continent and back. So, for us, while we are currently stationary, except for an occasion trip to some other country and region of the world, we can say that the idea that elves are travelers has some support in our lives. However, we think is a bit much to presume or extrapolate from our personal experience and inclinations and project them upon all elfae folk. This is a common mistake that many young elfae make. It is wise to consider that there may be other elfae folk out there who seldom move or travel and have spent nearly their entire lives in one area. We know from our own experience of our kindred that this is so. It really depends upon the individual elfae and sometimes has to do as well upon a particular period in their lives, for some of us travel a lot at one time and become quite sedentary in other decades.
So, like many things that are said of we elven, we can only say that it is somewhat true, or partially true. That it is true for some of us and not others, as is often the case. We are a unique people by our nature and eccentric by disposition (that you can safely say of nearly all of us). But in just saying that, it becomes clear that there are few things that apply to all of us and that is something we truly have in common.

ILLUMINATING FAERIE: Answers to Questions About Being an Elf and Following the Elven Path, Volume 6 by The Silver Elves (You do not need to read this series in any particular order)
We hope you enjoy reading this excerpt below from Illuminating Faerie (click here to read more about this book!):
“. . . . The Elven Way is ever changing but what one is learning is not the path itself but how to successfully travel on the path. It is, in its way, like learning to walk so one can stroll down unfamiliar lanes. Or learning to drive a car so one can travel unknown roads. The key is one’s own ability as a driver. There is no exact map for the way itself (for Faerie is ever changing) but there is a way to improve one’s skill at traveling upon it.”
“Therefore, the emphasis in the Elven Way is ever on s’elf development. And as one develops ones’elf and grows more confident in one’s skills and abilities, without becoming arrogant and thus heedless about them, one naturally feels more at ease with ones’elf and one’s ability to successfully navigate the various worlds one encounters and travels through. And that confidence, along with a sense of purpose one obtains in sharing the Elven Way with others seeking the path, inevitably eases tensions in one’s life and one’s interactions with the world.”
“Although, it is true that the world can be a stressful place. That is part of its dark magic and the web of spells it entangles one within. By its nature and design, the world of men creates tension and we who live within this modern Middle-earth cannot help but be affected by it in some ways. And yet, that is the adventure, too. What adventure doesn’t have its stresses? It is the nature of the quest.”
“But again, as we become more adept within ours’elves and more accustomed and practiced in the ways, our Mastery makes easy what was once very difficult. Even those things that previously seemed as though they might overwhelm us, are now just challenges to overcome.”
“And while the Elven Way is a very individual oriented way, we should remember that we are treading it together, each in our own way, and our frasority (fraternity/sorority) makes light and easy what would be difficult on one’s own. For as we Silver Elves say, “Together our magic is stronger by far.” And far easier and less stressful as well.”
