The Reporter and The Girl MINUS the Super Man by S.C. Rhyne ~ Character Interview ~ #ASMSG #IRMC
The internet is truly a wonderful place to connect with people hundreds of miles away from you who share similar passions. Since my debut as an indie author more than a year ago now, I’ve met scores of other authors, many of whom I have grown to love and admire. I connected with S.C. Rhyne via my blog and was immediately intrigued by the book she was penning, which she has released in paperback only on Amazon. Ereader users will need to go to Smashwords to snag a copy. However, I can’t say enough how unique her building of this story has been, and the graphics alone on her blog are enough to get you intrigued and keep you there until you can’t wait to fully engage with the book.
To do something a little different for my blog, I decided to interview one of S.C. Rhyne’s characters. So, without further ado, I give you my chat with Sabrien Collins from The Reporter and The Girl MINUS the Super Man
Please introduce yourself. Sabrien Collins, thank you for having me on your blog!
Nice to have you here. So, I’ll just dive into the interview questions. Sabrien, what is your role in The Reporter and The Girl? I am the female lead in the book; I meet a reporter name Jon, who is relatively new to New York City and the scene of online dating or hookups. We meet and it blows my mind, I’m immediately attracted to him.
Please give us a brief synopsis of The Reporter and The Girl? So after the first date, things take off very quickly between Jon and I. We’re talking and texting every day and night, and meeting each other after work and even during work if we can get away. We come to some issues though, when we realize that the other is not holding up their end of the “bargain as expected”. There is a lot of unsaid things between us, and we’re both naïve and new to adult relationships. There are also a lot of outside people running interference too.
Now that this novel has brought you to life, how do you like this life your author has given you? Well, it’s an interesting life to say the least! There always something going on whether it’s at work with Lee or at my home life with Karen and Greg. I think the author has definitely cut out a unique lifestyle and attitude for me.
What type of first impression do you usually make on people? Probably as a very straight-laced person. Always having everything in order…maybe a little chilly on the surface. But a warm gooey center once you break the ice.
Tell us a little about your childhood. So I’m a first generation born American, I excelled in academics. You get hints from the storyline about my parents being working professionals who came here to achieve the American dream with modest pockets.
What were your career aspirations? Did the author give you the career you would’ve chosen? We talk a little about my work-life and hopefully readers will get a sense that I’m hardworking– evenings and weekends, as well as respected by coworkers and supervisors.
Are you a Type A or Type B Personality? If neither, describe yourself to the readers, in a nutshell. I’m not sure as what either category means. But I’m straightforward, analytical, and always try to solve the problems with the best solutions, even if the solutions are not the happiest.
Who are your closest friends in The Reporter and The Girl World? Karen is one of my closet friends. Readers will see that I confide in Greg, my family member, and James, a longtime friend also.
Describe a day in your life. So my life was pretty monotonous with working all day and going to gym afterwards. So when readers get to the first chapter, they see that on weekends, I fish around online and hangout on weekends whether its friends and drinks, or guys and drinks.
What do you accomplish in The Reporter and The Girl that you’re most proud of? I learn a lot about myself, who I am, and what I’m capable of. I think as young adults, we don’t really have that and it is easy for us to lose our way—to accept things that are less than what we deserve and not get to where we’re going in life.
Do you wish you’d done anything different? Yep! Who doesn’t? I wish there were things I said to Jon that I could take back; especially now that hindsight is 20/20 and I understand the “other side” of things.
What do you like to do in your spare time? I do go to the gym a lot and I like to hang out with my friends.
What are your most prized possessions and why? A picture I took with Jon at Washington Square Park
What turns you on? Massages….huge turn on! It’s relaxing and gives a man the perfect opportunity to caress and worship me!
If you had to create a soundtrack for the novel, what songs would you include? Well I have a few youtube videos of the chapters, I’ve used “Do it 2 me” by Allstar Weekend, “Respect” by Aretha Franklin, “Bad Touch” by Bloodhound Gang, “Empire State of Mind” by Jay Z and Alicia Keys, “Smoke Two Joints” by Sublime, “Just a Dream” by Nelly, and “Catch my Disease” by Ben Lee.
Did you and your author have a great working relationship? Why or Why not? I think S.C. Rhyne did a good job at portraying my personality and my life in this story. She always took the time to ask if something wasn’t clear and has even been protective to how Jon and I have been portrayed over the internet.
Did the author portray you accurately? She did a good job of getting “me” on paper. I don’t know of anyone else who could have done a better job.
Were there any scenes the author cut, but you wish he or she had left in? Why? There was a lot going on between Jon and I behind the scenes and under the covers?

Chapter 8: Mr. Sensitive from The Reporter and The Girl MINUS The Super Man! By S.C. Rhyne
I teased him, “You’ll never get those handcuffs on me. I’m stronger than you, and I work out all the time.”
“No, you’re not,” he replied coolly. And this is how the bet was set. The first one to be tied up had to serve as the other’s slave for the week. Time for the other third, where’s my leash?
I grabbed my cocoa butter and straddled his back as he lay faced down on the recliner. I had the cuffs hidden and as soon as I reached his small buttocks, I heard him moan in delight as I squeezed and applied a circular motion with my thumbs. I reached for the cuffs and quickly got one of his wrists.
But that was all I would get.
Before I knew it, Jon was laughing that same hypnotizing laugh he had on our first date. He pushed me off and had both hands behind my back. Soon I was on the floor and immobilized.
Damn. Wrong third.
*****
Tonight, I came down the stairs to properly greet Master Jon on my knees, I kiss the top of his feet and say, “Good Evening, Sir.” He looks at me and immediately makes his way into the dining room on the just washed (while on my knees) hardwood floors without taking off his shoes.
At the table, it would be an overstatement to say that he feasted. Though a very slim build, he eats all the spinach, picking around the nuts and fruit, some of the vegetables but not the tofu, and barely breathes on the quinoa. Good home-cooked food that is consumed regularly with my family is now being sent back to the fridge. I don’t know if he is the typical spoiled White American or if he just didn’t enjoy the food I slaved over for him.
I look away not watching him “eat”. “Sabrien, play with my dick while I eat!” he orders.
Surprised, I feel disadvantaged as I am sitting on his right side. I have to use my left hand to reach in and search for his soft fleshy member. With all my “supplies” upstairs, I can only hope that the lotion I put on my hands earlier can still provide a good slip.
Not to mention I can’t get it all the way out of his pants, maybe it is the awkwardness of sitting next to him and trying to feel my way around under the tablecloth.
But, as they say in France, ONE THING LED TO ANOTHER, and I find myself pinned in a damn awkward position over the table with the reporter on top. He takes his sweet time to reach into his travel bag and pull out the plastic bag of condoms I gave him. He throws it on the table, making sure that I see it. A clear signal of what is to happen next.
Not what I had in mind! I never tell Jon this, but I had fantasized about our first time: pictured a weekend, when he would come and stay the night. While he showers, I would prepare the room by dimming the lights and lighting my favorite scented candles, spraying the sheets in the perfume that he likes, and me patiently waiting… naked in bed for him to come in and find a delightful surprise….
There is no music or candlelight like I envisioned, but the pace of sexual intercourse is timed by our natural rhythm. This rhythm is as off key as a wino singing along to the Sunday school choir while pissing out a kidney stone behind the cathedral structure. Jon’s body dominates me as the thrusting of his pelvis keeps the tempo.
You can hear it:
Rhythm – Rhythm…
Rhythm – Rhythm…
Rhythm – Rhythm…
Slipped – Out
I do not have enough sense to keep my eyes locked on him; instead they ro-o-o-ll downwards. At the time, I naively thought that such a small natural occurrence due to the amount of….

Desperately Seeking an Alpha Blog Hop ~ Tristan and Nathan White #ASMSG #EroticRomance
Alpha Male to the second power describes my characters, twin brothers, Tristan and Nathan White in Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever and Exit Strategy. Born into old Chicago money and having created a metric ton of new money in their own rights, these brothers are the epitome of the alpha male. These legacy dominants share the proclivities of kink and control with the patriarch of their small family, Charles Xavier White.
Introduced into the lifestyle by one of their father’s former lovers at the tender age of seventeen, these twins have known what they’ve wanted in and out of the bedroom for almost two decades. Here’s more info about both stories:
Author L.V. Lewis creates a colorful BDSM world for Keisha Beale, a post-college African American woman and Tristan White, the billionaire venture capitalist in Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever and Exit Strategy, a loosely parodied version of those wildly popular books by E.L. James!
Fifty Shades of Grey meets Keisha from the block!
Keisha Beale is a quarter of a million dollars away from realizing her dream of opening her own recording studio. A botched attempt at securing the funding required from venture capitalist Tristan White leaves her without many options… until Tristan White makes an indecent proposal. As Keisha navigates the treacherous environment of the billionaire’s secret kinky lifestyle, she discovers surprising things about herself and unleashes demons from her past she thought were long resolved.

Tristan practices impeccable manners despite my annoyance with him. “Nathan, this is Keisha Beale. Keisha, Nathan.”
“It’s so nice to meet you, Nathan.” I gush like a fan, and he grins. Then I turn and rail on Tristan. “What was so damned important it couldn’t wait until morning? You woke me and my roommate up, and our nosy neighbor. What is wrong with you?”
“You were right, Tristan, she does sound like a Domme,” Nathan says.
Tristan looks at me, his eyes hooded. “Tell me about it.”
“I asked you a question, Mister.” I say, sounding just like my mother.
His eyes become a tad more alert. “I got your voice mail,” he says simply.
My mouth falls open, and I don’t have time to respond because, at that moment, Jada re-enters the room, hair-combed, teeth undoubtedly brushed, and wearing mascara, and lip gloss. I blink wide-eyed at her. She breezes in as if we’re receiving guests in the early evening.
“So, you’re the infamous Tristan White,” she says and offers her hand to him to shake.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Jameson,” he says. “From the business plan you drafted, I can tell you’re every bit of the shrewd business person I know your father to be.
She waves him off. “Daddy might have said something similar about you. Oh, and call me Jada. We’re going to be business partners after all.”
“I certainly hope so,” Tristan says and glances at me before he turns to introduce his brother. “Jada, this is my brother, Nathan.”
Nathan stares at Jada with his mouth open, as though he recognizes her, wants to jump her bones, or something.
Jada moves to Nathan with two hands out and clasp his. “This guy needs no introduction. We see you in our living room almost every week during basketball season.”
Nathan absently shakes her hand, squinting. “Have we met?”
Jada is adamant. “I don’t think we have.” Then she waffles, “Well not formally, anyway. We may have attended some event at the same time, but then we were both in the presence of other companions, I’m sure.”
What the hell? I thought she said she was “dying” to meet him. Looks like they’ve already met.
I don’t have time to think about that. Tristan grabs my hand. “Jada, Nathan, play nice. I have something I need to square away with Keisha.” I follow, half-running to keep up with his long strides. He looks from one door to the other in our tiny hallway. “Which room is yours?”
I point right, not sure my voice will work. He hauls me into my own bedroom and shuts the door, pinning me against it. He kisses me in all my morning-breathed glory. I try to avoid giving him access to my tongue, but his is stronger. Knowing that resistance is futile, I relax and let him sanitize my saliva until I taste only what he tastes like. I think it’s Scotch, but I can’t be sure.
When he decides to come up for air, he releases me abruptly, and I’m a limp noodle against the door.
“How can you say no to this kind of passion?” He asks.
I think I whimper, because my thoughts are so fucking garbled at the moment.
His hands go to his knees, but he forces himself to stand upright again. “What are you afraid of? Do you need to do a trial run?”
“I just don’t like the idea of being involved with you when we’re doing business together. I’m going to apologize to Princess Danai and see if she’ll take our project on.”
“I wouldn’t approach her right now if I were you,” he says. “I had to talk her out of pressing charges, and filing a lawsuit against you.”
I cringe. What did I expect? Her eye is probably still some variation of black and purple right now.
“Oh.” That’s all I can muster, faced with my current reality.
“If you’re going to open in a little over three weeks, I’m the only shot you have of doing that,” he says.
“What happens if this,” I gesture between us, “doesn’t work out for us? I need assurances that Kente doesn’t become one of your acquisitions if this doesn’t work.”
“Have you read the contract?”
“No.”
“I’ve included a provision for that. I think the language says that if personal relationships are severed, White Enterprises will ensure that your company is backed by another entity before we part ways, amicably.”
“You would do that?”
“Right now, I’d do anything it takes to make you mine.”
My Triple-G and my Fairy Hoochie Mama both faint in a synchronized swoon.
Damn, this white boy is off the chain.
Exit Strategy
SUMMARY
Ex*it Strat*e*gy (noun) 1. A preplanned means of extricating oneself from a situation that is likely to become difficult or unpleasant. 2. The method by which a venture capitalist or business owner intends to get out of an investment that he or she has made in the past.
Will Keisha and Tristan exercise their elaborate EXIT STRATEGY and end their unorthodox arrangement?
Assailed by demons she thought she had conquered, Keisha Beale has uttered the words to end her tumultuous relationship with Tristan White. Separated, they grapple for a time with their personal demons. However, when their lives apart become unbearable, a credible threat brings them back together prematurely. As they seek to discover who is responsible for the threats, several seemingly unrelated incidents throw them into a tailspin. Will Keisha’s youthful indiscretions or Tristan’s un-reconciled feelings for an ex derail their tenuous arrangement? In the meantime, trouble in Nathan and Jada’s paradise send dramatic ripples that hint of future difficulties in the idyllic pairing.
Nothing Ventured…
Tristan uses his vast wealth and connections to correct a gross miscarriage of justice, while Keisha makes herself utterly vulnerable to Tristan and fears he has chosen to exercise his own exit strategy.
…Nothing Gained!
Will this be the end of the indecent proposal that became a fairy tale? Or will Keisha and Tristan reveal the trauma from their pasts so they may heal and completely embrace their relationship?
Sensual, suspenseful, and still infused with the riotous levity of Triple-G and Fairy Hoochie Mama, the Ghetto Girl Romance Quadrilogy departs from full parody with a distinctive take on love, loyalty, sacrifice, redemption, and acceptance.

EXCERPT
“Tell me again why you can’t stay?” he says as we stand in front of the elevator.
“Because it’s just not a good idea. And I don’t have anything to wear.”
“Actually, you do,” he says. “Mrs. Naven found some things in the laundry after you left. Problem solved.” He takes both my hands and backs up into the sitting room.
“Tristan, we still have some things to sort out. Tonight was great, but I still don’t think I’m cut out to be your submissive.”
“Just my submissive?”
I drop my head. “No. Anyone’s.”
“You’re afraid you’ll have panic attacks again, aren’t you?”
I feel like I’m about to be swallowed up by the sincere blue eyes tracking and pinning mine so effectively I can’t look away. “Yes. And I’m no use to you if I can’t endure the scenes, particularly the occasional disciplinary consequences.”
“What if there was a way you could?” His finger traces a gentle path down my cheek.
“What do you mean?”
“Just what I said. If there was a way we could work around the panic attacks, would you come back? For good?”
“You mean until you perfect your exit strategy? That’s what you venture capitalists call it, don’t you?”
“Ah, someone’s been paying attention at our semiannual business meetings?”
“I have a rather exacting mentor who insists on being heard.”
“Asshole,” he says and pulls me close.
I place my hands on his chest in an effort to sustain some emotional equilibrium, but he doesn’t let me go. “I’m the one who’ll be ass-out when you lose confidence in your investment and decide it’s time to diversify your portfolio again.”
“I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon, Keisha.” He draws me closer, palming my hips, and I get his point. Pun intended. “I can’t seem to get enough of you.”
I slip out of his arms and put some space between us. “Chemistry has never been an issue for us, Tristan. I know your lifestyle is important to you, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep up.”
The truth is, I’m hopelessly in love with a man who hasn’t given me any indication that he will ever want a real relationship. Nothing has changed on that front. He still just wants just a Dominant/submissive relationship, which might enjoy a longevity his other arrangements haven’t had, but it will eventually end.
Can I really do this? I certainly don’t think I’ll become any less in love with him over time. Reentering a sexual relationship with Tristan now would be exceedingly counterproductive to the reasons I left in the first place, but I am hard-pressed to make myself walk away again.
Tristan moves so close behind me that I can feel the warmth of his skin, his breath wafting over my ear as he speaks. “We’ll take things slow—again.”
He runs a finger along my arm, and gooseflesh sprouts like ivy in its wake. I feel a pull toward him that can only be described as magnetic—my body eager to be reunited to his. Even though it could conceivably be more painful for me this time around, I’m not sure if leaving him again is within the realm of possibility. I can’t rationalize staying, but leaving becomes increasingly more difficult with each second I remain in his presence.
I turn to face him. “Slow isn’t necessarily going to keep the attacks at bay.” Or guard my heart if he decides he’s done with me.
“We’ll figure out a way to do that together.” He takes me into his arms again. “These three weeks have been … just please stay.”
I look into his eyes, and all I want to do at that moment is kiss him senseless. He may not have given me a declaration of love, but somehow I know this is as close as I’m going to get with a man like Tristan White. For now.
As an answer, I stand on my tiptoes, throw my arms around his neck, and kiss him with everything in me.

EXCERPT
“Why am I doing this, again?”
Sloane stared at the matchmaking website. Firstmeet.com. It promised to make falling in love easy. Then why was her chest so tight? Why did she feel like Atlas, with the weight of the heavens on her shoulders? Were these signs that her foray into online dating could turn out to be one of the horror stories she’d heard on the news? With her luck she’d end up meeting a catfish who created a false identity and made a complete fool of her. Not in a million years would she have believed she would resort to this.
Do I really need to do this? Is it worth the risk? No. Maybe I shouldn’t bother. I should just be content living alone, and using my Hitachi Magic Wand when I feel the need for some adventure in the bedroom.
“You know what?” Sloane moved the cursor to the Log Out icon. “Maybe this isn’t such a good idea after all.” Just when she was about to click on the icon, Harper’s words came swimming up to the surface of her consciousness—Open yourself up to new possibilities, and maybe, just maybe, you might get your happily-ever-after.
Sloane lifted her eyes toward the ceiling. “Harper, you’re not even here, and you’re messing with my head.” She looked at the monitor and saw she had a million questions to answer before she completed her profile.
She inhaled a deep breath. “Okay, here goes.”
The questionnaire was exasperating. She couldn’t believe it went so far as to ask her to select what she’d do if she won the state lottery. How about all of the above? Sheesh. Sloane used the Eeny meeny miny moe rhyme to choose an answer, since all of the above wasn’t one of the options.
Twenty minutes later, Sloane completed the online form and paid the subscription fee. She took her shower and was just about to wrap the bath towel around her body, when she heard the doorbell. She wasn’t in the mood for visitors. Not when she needed to get ready to head out in a few minutes. The NHL games attracted large crowds, so everyone knew how important it was to arrive there early to get the coveted seats. Whoever was outside continued to press the doorbell, making Sloane more and more irritated by the second.
“Enough already, I’m coming,” Sloane muttered. She dried her skin briskly. Who could possibly be disturbing her peace this early on a Sunday morning? Don’t people understand the concept of weekends? It’s Sunday, for crying out loud. She rushed to her drawer and grabbed some clothing, along with her under-things. It didn’t seem as if Sloane could put her clothes on fast enough for her impatient, unwelcome guest.
By the time Sloane reached the hallway, the shrill sounds of the doorbell seemed to touch the most sensitive part of her nerves. She barely restrained herself from shoving her fist into her mouth to prevent herself from screaming. Sloane opened the door, not too gently. Belatedly, she thought how foolish it was to not check the peephole before opening the door. When she saw the man standing before her, her last-minute fear vanished.
The first thing that caught her attention was the width of his shoulders. It was one of the things about a man’s physique that got her going. Sloane believed only other full-figured women would understand the rare delight she felt in the moment, to be standing next to a man with such broad shoulders. Sloane was sure she would feel protected, and oh-so-delicate, if he wrapped his arms around her. It was a sensation she didn’t often enjoy with the opposite sex. It would feel so good to be an elf, a dainty little thing, needing protection, in his presence. Sloane mentally shook herself out of the fixation on the man’s shoulders, and allowed her eyes to track upwards.
“What the—” Her voice trailed off as she peered into cyan-blue eyes. She felt like her eyes were going to pop out of her head, as she looked into the all-too-familiar crooked, dimpled smile of the man who’d haunted her naughtiest dreams for ages.
“Blake?”

Sunday Sneak Peek: I Thee Wed by Savannah Leigh ~ #ASMSG #EroticRomance
Blurb:
Drew and Lily sitting in a tree (or a church garden)
K-I-S-S-I-N-G (and then some)
First comes sex
Then comes marriage
Then, well, we’re just not sure what comes next.
Lily Kramer accepted Drew Hamilton’s marriage proposal but
it wasn’t a traditional proposal. He wants her to marry him so his mother, who
has dementia, will know that he got married. Lily, an over-thirty wedding
planner, doesn’t see any other offers of marriage in her future so she accepts.
Now she has to plan a wedding that looks and feels like a real wedding, but
isn’t. Drew doesn’t want a relationship,
but he wants it to look like he and Lily are married, including living
together, so that everyone believes.
Will they be able to pull it off? Will Drew’s mother succumb
to the dementia before the wedding? Will Lily be able to shield her heart and
still have the wedding of her dreams?
**This is the follow up novel to With This Ring.**
Excerpt:
When I reach my
room, I stop short at one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.
Lily is curled
up on my bed, her hair splayed out on the pillow, and she’s sleeping. She looks
so peaceful and content; my dick twitches at the thought of burying myself
inside her. My heart rate speeds up and I realize I really like this view. I
want to have it view every day. Fuck.
There go my plans to keep things simple. I’m falling in love with Lily. I
didn’t see that coming, but I kind of like the idea. As I change my clothes, I
wonder how this woman got under my skin so quickly.
I know I should
let her sleep, but I have to touch her to figure out if what I’m feeling is
real, if I want to put my heart on the line again and risk it being crushed. I
climb carefully on the bed and she rolls toward me, but doesn’t open her eyes.
I brush a few strands of hair away from her face and she smiles. That smile
pushes me over the edge. I know I want this woman in my life, and I’m going to
do what I can to keep her. It’s a foreign feeling, one I’ve fought for years,
but it feels right. I pull her into my arms. She makes a small moaning sound
and curls into me. She’s soft where I’m hard and we fit together like we were
made for each other. I relax and get lost in the rhythm of her breathing. Soon,
I’m dozing, too.

New Orleans’s Hotel Beaudelaire isn’t just a critically acclaimed 5-star establishment. For New Year’s Eve, it becomes a Den of Sin, and its owner extends invitations to a few discriminating guests to help make their sexual fantasies come true.
REDEEMING THE AMAZON SUMMARY
Most come to The Beaudelaire Hotel a select few times a year merely to indulge in sexual fantasy, but the stakes are higher for Karen Freeman and Paul Beaudelaire this New Year’s weekend. Karen is nine years post-op from a double mastectomy, and her vain ex-husband hadn’t agreed with her decision to remove her remaining good breast or to eschew reconstruction. In the end, that decision cost her. She lost her marriage, but she’s certain the move has prolonged her life.
Returning to a normal dating and sex life has been difficult. She hasn’t made love fully unclothed since the demise of her marriage, and her most significant relationship occurred right after her surgery. When she was still recuperating, she had an affair of the heart with a Marine amputee who’d also been her Ph.D. classmate.
Paul Beaudelaire once led a charmed life as a ladies’ man who had his pick of women in the upper echelons of New Orleans society. He’d been satisfied to continue in that vein, until a Marine recruiter wooed him from LSU with tales of valor, courage, and commitment. His career in the corps cut short by the loss of his left leg, Paul returned to New Orleans with the best prosthesis Johns Hopkins orthopedics experts could fit him with. The problem was, he’d left his heart in Baltimore with a beautiful former model, whose crippled marriage was the only deterrent to his waning honor. Will this fantasy weekend at his Uncle Henri’s hotel give him a second chance with his contemporary Amazon, or will her fear of rejection be a barrier to their reconnection?
EXCERPT – REDEEMING THE AMAZON
“What just happened? We were in a good place until all of a sudden, we weren’t.”
She shrugged like a gawky, inexperienced teen, afraid to go all the way with the boy she liked she wasn’t sure would still like her in the morning. He hated that the cancer had done this to her. Robbed her of her confidence.
“Karen, I would never hurt you.”
She smiled. He’d been going for intimacy, for sincerity, but apparently his heartfelt declaration struck her as funny.
“You know I won’t take advantage if you let me in,” he said, giving her a glimpse of his own vulnerability. This was as much about him as it was about her. Then he realized this statement was innuendo-laden as well, when her grin broadened.
“Exactly how do I know this?”
He would not let a moment of levity steal the inroads he was determined to make. “Because you know I’ve been where you are, even though on the surface it looks like I’ve dealt with and overcome all my issues with body image. Will you take a chance and go places with me intimately that you haven’t with anyone else?” He hoped like hell she could trust him. She hadn’t backed out when she found out he was her partner for the weekend, so there had to be something to her acceptance.
“How cunning. You knew the one thing—the only thing—that makes living inside our imperfections so difficult. I’m not surprised you get it.”
She smiled that same smile he saw in his fantasies. The one that says more than her words. She squinted, and laugh lines seemed to appear from nowhere. There was no guile or arrogance in it, just the tentative smile of a woman who was once very self-assured and was again trying it on for size.
It was that smile Paul had responded to first, before he’d discovered other interesting things as he’d continued to watch her. The way she walked with such grace, one might believe she was floating. The way she saw through bullshit as if she had a built in meter for it. Even his. The intensity with which she viewed life was even atypical, a study in contradictions for one who’d stared death in the face and made it back down.
“If we do this your way, I’ll have one rule.”
Desperation made him reckless. “Anything.”
“The lights must be off.”
“Except that…” He stood and paced. “Karen, we’re supposed to leave our inhibitions at the door.”
“Okay. Suppose I were to blindfold you instead?”
He stopped in his tracks and smiled involuntarily. “That sounds promising, but if we get any kinkier than that, we might have to change floors.”
“Let’s just get the mechanics down now, shall we?”
“That doesn’t sound particularly sexy.”
Her expression challenged him. “I’m going to make you rue that statement before this weekend is over.”
“Game on,” he said.

THE SERIES IN ITS ENTIRETY:
On December 6 the authors of the Den of Sin Series invited you to indulge in a new erotica or erotic romance novella each Friday until December 27. Each had a different couple (or trio) and different kinks:
December 6: Forbidden Rendezvous by Mel Blue
Seraphina orchestrates fantasies, but this year she’ll create one of her own. It’s against the rules for an employee to participate in the weekend-long sex-capade but she’s willing to risk it for Luke. The man’s a mystery, but in a sea of CEOs and Fortune 500 billionaires, he stands out. His past and connection to her boss is clouded in intrigue, but she knows what he wants, and she plans to star in one of his voyeuristic fantasies.
December 13: Ménage à Troys by Holley Trent
At the Den of Sin anything goes, so instead of two newlyweds letting down their guards to finally consummate their marriage of convenience, three people desperate to be touched forge bonds. That’s all well and good for the weekend, but what will shake out of their tentative ménage à trois when it’s time to go home?
December 20: Wicked Surrender by Ambrielle Kirk
Kris is tired of spending her nights playing with hard plastic and silicone. She wants a real man for a night, and expects to find him at the Den of Sin. She doesn’t expect to meet one of the World’s Most Eligible Bachelors there, and this isn’t the first time she’s met him. Unfortunately, Travis Brenden doesn’t seem to remember her.
December 27: Redeeming the Amazon by L. V. Lewis
Karen hasn’t made love fully unclothed since her double mastectomy and the subsequent demise of her marriage. Authors, Don’t Ignore Your Family (and Friend) Time! ~ (Five Ways to Balance Life with Social Media)
As authors we have learned to multitask on social media like pros. We write that novel, bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan, promote our books out the yin-yang, all while keeping our readers thoroughly engaged. We’re on social media what seems like twenty-four seven. However, can we take on all the various duties intrinsic with being an author, and keep the home fires burning, too? Absolutely.
The technological era has furnished us with an astounding array of social media and writing tools, as well. Still, we are entangled by a readership that expects us to humanize ourselves by social media engagement (because honestly, readers don’t want to be bombarded with pleas to “buy my book,” without first knowing who you are and whether they like you or your writing enough to plunk down $5 for it). Technology has allowed us to routinely accomplish these feats, oftentimes in our pajamas, while waiting in line at the grocery story, and/or at some family event.
Our capacity for productivity may be at a level that keeps us relevant to readers more consistently, but when keeping up keeps us tied to our social media at the expense of our familial relationships and friendships, it goes against everything we hold dear. Because let’s be honest, while most readers, by and large are gracious, even when they don’t think your work is very stellar, for a minority of them (whom we tend to listen to more than that vast majority), we are only as good as our next book. And many are compelled to let you know it, and not so kindly sometimes I might add. So authors, I want to share with you what I am doing to strike more of a balance in my life.
Increased Engagement With Loved Ones
Sometime after publication of my first novel, I became increasingly less engaged with my family and friends. I was a wife who was less attentive to her husband, and a mother who sometimes didn’t see or speak to her children for days. Even though for the most part, my husband and I are empty nesters, I still have two children who live in the area that I need to cultivate adult relationships with. Contrary to what they believe, and how I have conducted myself since they have been out of the house, they need me, and I need them.
My dear daughter who lives farthest away is the one who rather inelegantly brought it to her mother’s attention that she was not present in the moment, even when having conversation with her long distance. “You’re preoccupied,” she said. “You must be working on your writing.” And she literally spat the word “writing,” like it was distasteful to her.
Let’s just say that, after that, I made a conscious effort and adopted an unwavering commitment to spending a reasonable percentage of the time I talked to my children or my husband, fully present and doing just one thing–talking to them. Even though the multitasking fairy on your shoulder will say you could be doing more.
Five Ways You Can Balance Life With Social Media
1.) Sacrifice Productivity Sometimes
Lost quality time with your family and friends is like lost sleep. You can never get it back, even when you try to sleep longer to recoup it, it’s just not the same. Embrace the fact that you could lose some time on social media that could result in a book sale, but that’s not always a given, and is certainly not the end of the world.
2.) Make Some Time in Each Day Sacrosanct
Before you begin those daily author activities that cry out to you like a siren’s song upon rising, do not make social media the first thing you gravitate to when you rise and when you retire. Take some time to debunk, to meditate, to pray, or whatever your morning or evening ritual would normally be were you not an author who has an adoring public waiting for you. Take a moment to be grateful for what you have. Make breakfast for that husband you’ve been neglecting. Read to your children at bedtime, or call those birdies that’ve flown the nest. Connect and reflect on what a great life you have.
3.) Give Your Undivided Attention to The Person In Front of You
Never underestimate the value of listening. The best gift you can give your children is your undivided attention. They have an intrinsic need to be heard, as do most humans. Stop having that riveting conversation on Facebook, or Twitter, and make eye contact with your husband, child, or friend. Make that person in front of you feel like they’re most important to you at that moment. There is nothing more disheartening than being made to feel like you don’t count. Writing your novel and readers on social media are not more important than your ever-present family and friends. Even if writing is your livelihood, don’t make it more important than those who will love you even if you aren’t wowing them with your next plot, or aren’t a NYT bestseller.
4.) Family Tradition Is King
Don’t eschew holiday meals, family meetings, movie weekends–anything you’ve always done with your family for your time on social media. Enthusiastically participate in these events just as you always have, and don’t fake it, or wish you were posting pictures of your characters on Pinterest. Your family will notice. So, keep your family connected through these traditional activities you’ve always done together. My children and I have always shared our love of books and movies. I discuss books we enjoy in common with my daughter, and the boys and I have had a long-standing tradition of going to openings of action movies together. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve gone into work the next day sleep-deprived from a midnight movie showing. But every lost second of sleep was worth it to me.
5.) Stop and Smell The Roses
When was the last time you delighted in an afternoon of lying prone on a hammock, or even on the grass, allowing your senses to run amok? Engage in mindless relaxation and cultivate every detail. Be still and smell that fragrant rosebush, or that cluster of honeysuckle on the vine. Your senses should be savored, because they are the very essence of being alive. Live your life out in nature sometime, not always chained to your PC, smartphone, or iPad.
As an author myself, I know doing all these things all the time isn’t possible when deadlines are looming and you’re under a contract to produce a book. However, you’ve immersed yourself in social media because it is necessary, but you can set the standard for you own use, then model that behavior to your children, your husband and friends. When you choose to physically engage as a parent, spouse, or friend, you’re reminding them to not allow social media to be their substitute for live human interaction.
Social media has become a necessity for authors who want to stay connected, but we should always be mindful of striking a balance between being present electronically and in person. If you practice the five steps I’ve enumerated above to strike that balance, it will pay forward in dividends that should impact your family for generations to come.

Wicked Surrender by Ambrielle Kirk – Den of Sin Series – New Release ~ #EroticRomance #AMSG

Blurb: Wicked Surrender
The Beaudelaire is not just a five star hotel critically- acclaimed for satisfying the rich and elite. During New Year’s weekend, the hotel becomes the Den of Sin, where all desires and fantasies come to life.
To indulge in your most wicked desires….
After kicking her cheating ex-boyfriend to the curb, Kris Delacourt became celibate. Her grudge against the opposite sex has rendered her love life non-existent. The one thing that hasn’t been reduced is her sexual appetite. Kris is tired of spending her nights playing with hard plastic and silicone. She wants a real man. Spending a night at the Den of Sin sounds like the kick start she desperately needs. She doesn’t expect to meet one of the World’s Most Eligible Bachelors there. This isn’t the first time she’s met Travis Brenden, but it seems he doesn’t even remember her.
…would you surrender control?
Travis Brenden is a man who treasures being in control and he relinquishes it for no one. An invite to an exclusive event leads him to cross paths with a woman who seduces him with one innocent glance and erupts a torrid desire deep inside him. He dubs her the Temptress. Within the Den of Sin, he can indulge without the high expectations that come with his social status. Yet, something about this temptress jogs his memory to no end and while he’s with her his control begins to slip.
Excerpt: Wicked Surrender
Travis followed his temptress to the opposite end of the ballroom, where she stopped in front of the floor legend. He paused in his pursuit as well and stood several feet behind her. All he could do was stare, wondering why he felt like a young dude still wet behind the ears and running after his first piece of tail. The last time he’d drooled at the mouth over a woman was back in high school.
She tilted her head to the side as if checking to see if he was behind her. If that was in fact her purpose she turned it quickly again, averting her attention to the hotel legend.
What was he waiting for? He’d arrived here just for this reason. To indulge his fantasies at the Den of Sin. He approached her, although she did not immediately look up from the diagram on the podium labeling every level and every main area of kink.
Finally she turned making direct eye contact. She pursed her lips as she observed him. Her brows nearly came together again as she appeared deep in thought.
“Am I in your way?” she asked calmly.
Her voice was beautiful and he could have sworn he’d heard it before.
“Not at all.” He smiled. “Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
She blushed and looked away shyly. “I don’t think so.”
“I’d like to know you.” He gestured to the legend with his hand. “Which floor were you headed to?”
“I’m not interested in a ménage,” she said, quickly.
“Excuse me?”
“I saw you. I’m not headed to your level.”
He chuckled softly. “Then how about I head to yours?”
She smiled and her face brightened up. “Only if you can guess which one that is…”
“I’d rather not take a wild guess.” Travis held out his hand. “Can I buy some clues?”

Blog Tour – Exit Strategy by L. V. Lewis – Dec. 16-20 #ExitStrategy #ASMSG
The Highly Anticipated Follow-up to Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever!
Ex•it Strat•e•gy (noun) 1.
Will Keisha’s youthful indiscretions or Tristan’s un-reconciled feelings for a former sub derail their tenuous arrangement?
In the meantime, trouble in Nathan and Jada’s paradise send dramatic ripples that hint of future difficulties in the idyllic pairing.
Nothing Ventured…
Tristan uses his vast wealth and connections to correct a gross miscarriage of justice, while Keisha makes herself utterly vulnerable to Tristan and fears he has chosen to exercise his own exit strategy.
…Nothing Gained!
Will this be the end of the indecent arrangement that became a fairy tale? Or will Keisha and Tristan reveal the trauma from their pasts so they may heal and completely embrace their relationship?
Sensual, suspenseful, and still infused with the riotous levity of Triple-G and Fairy Hoochie Mama, the Ghetto Girl Romance Quadrilogy departs from full parody with a distinctive take on love, loyalty, sacrifice, redemption, and acceptance.

L. V. Lewis is a married, mother of four who lives in South Georgia and works in the Florida Panhandle. A new author who decided stories like Fifty Shades of Grey needed a little more diversity and comedy, penned Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever as a parodied response to those wildly popular books from a woman of color. A voracious reader since Kindergarten, Lewis loves nothing more than to curl up with a good book and a glass of wine. She and her husband are political junkies, a hobby that is time consuming but free. Now that Lewis has teens who think they don’t need their parents anymore, she has taken up another time-draining career of writing. However, she is happy to report, for once, her extra-curricular activity costs far less than her husband’s. Her love for writing is only eclipsed by her love for her family.

Sunday Sneak Peek ~ Éire’s Viking by Sandi Layne ~ #DEC #Author2Author #SneakPeek #ASMSG
The place is Wexford, Ireland – once known as Éire. The Green Island.
The man is Agnarr Halvardson from the village of Balestrand in Nordweg. Years ago, as a younger man, he raided Éire and found himself drawn to the island and her people. Now, he’s returned. He is
Éire’s Viking
Sneak Peek:
She was just about to open her mouth to tell him she didn’t want any tea but wanted to hurry home, when the air seemed to get heavy around them and lightning cracked in the thickening clouds overhead.
“Thor!” The Northman’s face filled with awe and dignity. He gripped the talisman he wore around his neck and said something she couldn’t comprehend. Thunder followed and then another three strikes of lightning in quick succession.
“God in Heaven, have mercy on us,” Aislinn whispered, poised for flight. Her heart pounded and her breath came in shallow gasps as she tried to think whether it would be best to hide in the trees or just try to run ahead of the storm. Or perhaps they should just keep walking?
Crack! Sssnap! A strange, violent sound preceded the top of a tree catching on fire. “Fire!” she shouted, wondering what the Northman was thinking, standing still in a storm like this.
He laughed, casting his arms out from his sides and smiling up at the flashing skies. “Fire!”
He had remembered the proper word for it, which briefly distracted Aislinn, but she moved quickly to his side, pushing her pleasure in his understanding of some words aside. “Come! We have to get away from the fire.” She tugged on his rain-wet arm. “Come!”
“Né, né. Fire. Bra. Ja.” With a nod, he covered her hand where it was still on his forearm. “Come,” he said, glancing down at her. That he had used her own word again made her smile and his own definitive, pleased expression slid away to something with a greater intensity. “Aislinn . . .”
Éire’s Viking is to be released on January 23, 2014 by The Writer’s Coffee Shop.
Author Bio:
There are many profiles that detail the author’s lifelong dream of authorship being realized with the publication of their first novel or short story. This is not one of those profiles.
To make an exceedingly odd story moreso, Sandi Layne had no wish to be a writer, but went through a storyline bootcamp in the form of strange dreams for a month and took careful notes. Fifteen years later, she’s still writing stories that veer slightly off the beaten path, both in Christian and historical fiction.
Married for more than twenty years to a very tolerant (and brilliant!) man, she has two sons, no pets,
and a plethora of imaginary friends. Her interests range from ancient civilizations to science fiction for both reading and research. With degrees in English and Ministry, she also claims Theology’s crimson Masters collar which she has been known to don on rare occasions.
If you drive by her window before dawn, it is likely she’ll have a light on for you. Or at the very least, she’ll be alert on twitter. She invites you to visit her online space at http://sandyquill.com
