Growing up, Layla knew she had a biological father, just not anything about him. The day a lifelong friend of her mother's shows up at her work asking many of the same questions, Layla began to doubt everything she knew.
Wanting to find out the truth Layla and Gavin embark on their own journey but neither are prepared for what they will find. Things get even hairier when Layla instantly falls for the one person willing to keep their secrets while helping them find the truths they had been denied.
Garrett's involvement was to be strictly professional. Unfortunately, his heart has a different agenda and falling in love wasn't a part of it. It most certainly wasn't condoned by Gavin.
When Layla spirals out of control, will Gavin be able to anchor her to reality of will he have to enlist the help of the one person he wants to stay away from her -- Garrett.
SHATTERED is the third book in the "Scars Series" and while it can be read as a standalone, it is not recommended and will include spoilers from previous books in the series.

“You have to understand, I was in my early twenties. I was young and stupid. I took what we had together for granted and lost. It broke me and I lost her. I was afraid to admit that I love Jordan with everything I am.”
“‘Love’? Don’t you mean ‘loved’?”
“If you say so. Anyway, where was I? I thought we had something special, but apparently it wasn’t enough for her to stay. She got into trouble and the next thing I knew, she was gone.”
“But why didn’t you go after her?”
“I did. I mean, I tried. Jordan just disappeared. I looked for her, I went to her house, I went to her cousins, I even went as far as pulling a few of her friends over. I got nothing until after she was long gone. Then it was too late. She had enlisted in the Navy and…well, I’m ex-military, there was nothing I could do.”
“That’s bullshit and you know it. You could have found her and went to her.”
“I could have, yes. But I knew deep in my heart that she was better off. Jordan is and always has been too good for this damn town. She is better than me, so I let her go. It hurt like a bitch, but it was for her own good.”
“Apparently there was something in this town because she came back.”
“Yeah, and she was married. I had to step aside.”
“That’s it? That’s all you have to keep me away from Layla?”
“Please don’t do this Garrett. Layla is like Jordan; she deserves more than what this fucking town can offer.”
“You’re wrong, Gavin. I refuse to wind up like you, sitting here after twenty years drowning your broken heart in alcohol.” I stand and pull two twenties out of my wallet and throw them on the bar. “Do you need a ride?”
“No, I’m fine. I just need to clear my head. I think I will take a walk down by the river.”
“Okay, if you’re sure.” I turn to leave when Gavin grabs my elbow.“Garrett!”
I pull my arm out of his grip and look over at him. “Yeah?”
“Please don’t.”
“Gavin, stop. I cannot say for sure if anything will come of this, but I will be damned if I don’t see where this goes.”
“If you hurt her; I swear, I will kill you.”
I don’t even acknowledge his threat before I leave the bar. By the time I crank the truck up, Layla is the only thing on my mind.

Current EventsIt has been a busy few weeks but I am still alive and kicking. Currently I am working on "Shattered" in hopes to have it out for everyone soon. I recently published "Cicatrizado" on Amazon and am currently in negotiations with someone to produce the audiobook.

I have also been playing around with the thought of offering formatting, editing, and publishing assistance for a nominal fee to indy authors.

La vida es un ciclo; naces, vives, mueres, y según algunas culturas, ha nacido de nuevo. El sol sale y se pone, y luego sale el sol de nuevo. Las estaciones cambian de primavera, verano, otoño, invierno; y entonces es primavera otra vez.
Mi vida ha sido un ciclo sin fin de la tristeza y el dolor; algunos de los que ha sido auto-inducida, mientras que una gran cantidad se puede atribuir a la suerte o el destino como muchos creen. Hay momentos en los que me siento como si me voy a quedar fuera de control. A veces me siento como si estuviera en un agujero negro; un vacío sin fin, sin luz, nada de que agarrarse, y no hay salida. La única opción es luchar tanto como sea posible para salir o ser consumido.
Yo no soy fuerte, soy débil. He tenido que mantener mi cabeza en alto y sentirse muy orgullosa de toda mi vida, cuando lo único que quiero hacer es crumble. Estoy cansado de tener que ser siempre la más fuerte y recoger los pedazos cuando lo que realmente quiero hacer es desvanecen en la oscuridad. Por favor, sólo dejar que los demonios me lleven.
Estos son mis cicatrices. Esta es mi historia.
