Name WHATEVER AFTER #6
Hi all,
Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a lovely holiday. I did–but then my plane home got cancelled (that’s canceled for you Americans) due to fog and we had to wait three days to get on another one because of bad weather. But now I’m back in New York!
So, I’m sorry for the delay (see above), but for anyone who wants to vote on the title for WHATEVER AFTER #6 you have until tomorrow to do so! Perhaps you are wondering, 6? What about 5? If that’s what you are wondering, you should know that WHATEVER AFTER #5 is called BAD HAIR DAY and will be out this May! You can pre-order it here. But back to 6. In book 6 Abby and Jonah fall into the story of Beauty and the Beast. What happens? Um…I don’t know yet! But they will certainly mess the story up. It’ll be fun! And adventurous! And Jonah will wish he had ketchup!
You can vote right on .
More soon!

New Series Out Now!
Hi all,
It’s out! It’s out! It’s out!
I am so excited to tell you that the first book in my new middle grade series, WHATEVER AFTER #1: FAIREST OF ALL is now in stores.
The series is about Abby, a 10-year-old girl and her little brother Jonah who fall into fairy tales, mess them up, and have to help the characters find new happy endings.
The Story of Whatever After has been growing in my mind for a while. A really long while. Since I was two.
See, every night before bed, my mom used to tell me stories.
I had two favorite kinds.
The first kind always started with the line, once upon a time there was a little girl and her name was Sarah. Sarah, lived in Montreal, just like I did, but magic stuff happened to her. For example, sometimes Sarah could fly with the help of a magic umbrella. Sometimes she had a magic fork that could turn vegetables into chocolate.
The second kind of story also started with the line, once upon a time. But these were fairy tales. I didn’t have to be in these fairy tales, but I did like to change them up. Since I was not a fan of vegetables, when my mom told me the story of Princess and the Pea, the queen had to put M&Ms under girl’s mattress to see if she was a true princess.
As I got slightly older, and learned how to hold a pencil, my mom and I would write these stories down together and I’d illustrate them. I kept them!
A few years ago, I was going through old boxes (I always do this when I am brainstorming new ideas) and found the handmade books. The magic stuff happens to Sarah ones and the fractured fairy tales. And I thought: What if one lead to the other? What if a regular girl magically fell into a fairy tale and fractured it?
And that’s where I got the idea for my new series.
In the first book, Abby and Jonah fall into Snow White. They accidentally stop Snow White from eating the poison apple. At first they think they’re heroes. Yay! They saved Snow White! She won’t die! But then they realize that if she doesn’t die, the prince can’t save her, and she’ll never get her happy ending. Oops. Now it’s up to them to fix Snow White’s story, avoid getting poisoned, and fingers crossed, find their way home.
Scholastic even made the book a trailer! Watch it on YouTube!
Oh, and there’s a game too. Visit the Whatever After Page on Scholastic and play the “Dress-Up Abby game and read the first three chapters.
So why did I pick Snow White to be the first book?
Do you mean why was I partial to the fairy tale that featured the dark-haired girl with super pale skin? Cough, cough. Have you seen my author photo? Which princess do you think I dressed up as for Halloween?

TEN THINGS for $0.99
Hi.
Guess what?
The TEN THINGS WE DID (AND PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE) eBook is only $0.99! For a limited time, buy it on Amazon, Nook, reader, Kobo and iTunes for only $0.99.
So if you are looking for some plane reading, or beach reading, or I-have-no-homework reading you can read TEN THINGS WE DID (AND PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE) for less than a buck.
Adult readers: if you've been debating trying one of my YA titles here is your chance to get one cheap. While it's YA, it's definitely older YA. (It's about two seventeen-year-olds who live on their own when their parents move away. Hilarity ensues.)
Happy holidays!
