Shadow Heir release day!

Oh, hey. Check it out! Today is Shadow Heir's official release day in the U.S., making it my...um, let's see...seventeenth novel in print. Yikes. Seventeen? How does that happen? One word at a time, I guess.

The UK has a slightly later release date, though I'm told UK Kindle users can already download it. Australia usually follows the UK, though places like Rendezvous Books sell U.S. imports and ship within Australia. Other countries, as always, are unknown to me. The translations usually come later, and English imports depend on what stores you can find within your own country.

In the meantime, RT Magazine is holding a contest for ALL of the Dark Swan books, which is pretty nice of them. It's U.S. only, and you can find their details here.

Books aside, I hope all of you are enjoying the holidays. My family had a pretty awesome Christmas, with lots of delicious food and a very spoiled (and adorable, if I do say so myself) baby. I'm getting work done today, since my husband has the week off. It's hard to believe 2011 is almost over! This has definitely been a big year for me--and certainly the most memorable! I should have some cool news for you guys in January, as well as a ton of international book covers that I'm behind on. Good times.

Reviews are so you can say whether or not you like the book. Whats the point if your not honest about whether you liked it or not?

message 18: by Brittany (new)

Brittany I will put this on my shelf to read. I enjoy your writing (specifically Vampyre Academy)so I look forward to reading this series.

message 19: by Cristina (new)

Cristina I just finished the book and I love it!!! Thank You. I kind of was afraid of the ending, but, like always, Richelle gave us the best.

Jeannie Bowles Read it and enjoyed it but Hated the ending to the searies. I mean I loved where you went with it but I wanted to get Dorians actions to finding out ....because she has to tell him..... I also took how you did the ending as her children are not going to come live with her???? Thats what I got but I hope you come out with a short story to clearify all this. OVER ALL GOOD SEARIES.

message 21: by Sam (new)

Sam I didn't think the book was very realistic. Any FIT mother wouldn't leave their new born children if they thought they were in danger and they were not there to at least try and protect them. Let alone leaving them there with strangers that she didn't know. For all you know they could want the childen dead. Secondly, how can you keep a secret from Dorion in the final book? I loved Richelle's other series so you can imagine the disappointment. The final book should wrap up all the loose ends in a book and I don't think it was done here.

Reviews are so you can say whether or not..."

I'm glad they didn't, otherwise I wouldn't have found out how so many readers have felt cheated over the last book. Just as I think Eugiene grows up and takes a step forward, Mead creates something that makes her take ten paces back.
Apparently she's done something similar in all of her other books, and I can't help but wonder why she keeps doing it?

This was the only series by Mead that I was relatively interested in--and I can't believe I'm saying this because I've always tried finishing a series--but I'm not going to read the final book.
As a reader we are putting our trust in an author to satisfy us in our need for a story. From reading all the reviews--the good and the bad--I've found out that not only does it not have an ending, but from what I've heard and read, it feels like it was put together in a hurry and hasn't even ticked one box. The death of the baddies? Nope. A HEA on the romantic front? Nope, not quite. The main character slowly developing and becoming a better person? Certainly not!

If the author can't be bothered about their own story, then why should I?

Corinne Rommeney I don't understand some of your guys logic but that is your opinions. She is an amazing writer but you read and review what ever floats your boat.

Well if you don't like her books...here is a thought.....don't read them simple as that, if you have so much bad things to say about them :)

message 28: by Erica (new)

Erica You do realize this website is so you can review and rate books! Not everyone is going to like these books and just because you have an opinion it doesn't mean everyone elses is the same!

message 29: by Nichola (new)

Nichola connor oh i will definately need to get a hold of this one as enjoy your writing so look forward to reading this series.

I have to admit that I don't quite understand where you're coming from but OK.
As I said before, I read the previous books and enjoyed reading them, however I was also saying that I very much doubt that I will read the final book as I have talked to many people who have said that the last book was a weak effort to close the series.
What do you think is more helpful to a writer? A critique that focuses on the good points or the bad points? This website is so you can discuss books and yet I find it very odd that you're so dead set against anyone having any negative opinion on a book. Have you not read a book where you had mixed feelings towards it? That is exactly how I felt about this series.

Although I don't agree with your opinion because even though I disliked them, I had to read lots of books for College, I also find it funny that you're not following your own advice: if you don't like our comments then don't read/reply to them.
