When does the “Fire” go out?

I thought I would make this post to clarify something with regards to Fire From the Sky. More than once someone has commented that they hoped the series wasn’t finished, and I noted a comment this time that I had said ‘next’ rather than ‘last’. While Parno was always intended to tell a story and be finished, Fire From the Sky is different. Always intended to be an open-ended series, Fire From the Sky has no projected end as such. Basically, the series will continue so long as I can continue to interject fresh story ideas, and so long as you, the readers, enjoy it. I DO have other projects in development, and I still have other series to add to, of course. Those projects, however, will not interfere with or replace the Fire series of books. As I said, until I can no longer provide an entertaining story, or until you get tired of the tales themselves, I have no plans to end the series.

ADDED TO THAT, let me say, at least once more, how humbled I am at the reception that FIRE has received over the last three years now. I can’t possibly thank you all enough for the encouragement and compliments on the series. I readily admit that there have been times when I might have quit had it not been for that, and I will never be able to adequately put into words my appreciation for them. When writer’s block or frustration with how something won’t quite work out for me on paper (or screen, as it were

Pam Shelton-Anderson I am happy to hear that the Fire series is continuing and am excited for the next installment. I'm also anxious for the final Parno as it is one of my favorite series.
Thank you!

N.C. Reed Hi Pam! I'm glad you've enjoyed Fire, and likewise glad to know that you have enjoyed the Parno series. That story was years (over a decade) in development and to finally have the original story completed is both a relief, and yet sort of a letdown to know it's done. It's been a major part of my life for a very long time, and now that I've finished it I will of course be moving on to other things, but I will miss it. Maybe there will be more in the future, I don't know, but for now, it's on to more Fire, and Stormcrow as well.

Thank you,

NCR

Bill Sullivan Is there any chance that the Fire series is a precursor to Parno?

Pam Shelton-Anderson I can't imagine the exhilaration of completing a series like Parno, but can also see the separation anxiety. I feel that way when I finish reading a good series like Parno, but it would pale in comparison to writing it. I'm a big believer in re-reading my favorite books so I go back to visit these friends a lot. I just starting re-reading Parno so I can be ready when the final book is out!

Hi Bill! No, Fire is not the precursor to Parno. The story of Tyree is one I have yet to tell, though it is one that I have more or less mapped out about halfway. The story of Tyree was actually first, but the story of Parno grew out of it and got bigger in a hurry. I do have plans to tell Tyree's story, Lord willing I get that far. Thank you for your question!

I have more or less the same reaction to finishing a series that I'm reading, especially if I've enjoyed it. I hate to see it end, but I also recognize that all things have to, sooner or later. As for being the writer, especially for the Parno series, it was exhausting, and yet I miss the fact that there was work to do. I still have work to do, of course, but Parno was the first thing I finished, (and got rejected for, lol) so it was kind of special. Thanks for you comment!
