Not A Blogging

Way back when on LiveJournal, when I started this column or journal or whatever it is, I called it my “Not A Blog,” because I could see that regular blogging was a lot of work, and I didn’t think I had the time to devote to it.   I was late on a book even then, though I do not recall which one.  I figured I would just make posts from time to time, when I had an important announcement, when the mood struck me, whatever.

Somehow, though, over the decades, the Not A Blog became a blog, and what I h...

Nicholas Just say it... you have abandoned Winds of Winter. Please give us clarity there.

Elena Woontner Aw, no. It would have been great if Winds of Winter could come out this year with all the 10th anniversary of the show happening. I guess you cannot dictate creativity.

yeah it's clear he has no intentions of finishing GOT. Wildcards shouldn't come before finishing the series that made him and which thousands of fans are heavily invested in.

Gabriel I mean, I get the frustration but it's pretty shitty for you people to whine about WoW when he's trying to share about the heavy emotional pain he's going through. Not helping.

Completely agree with you. I'm a huge ASOIAF and GOT fan - though to be fair I've only just got into the series in the last three years, so I haven't had to wait for years and years like some fans - but I would like to think I would put the author first. If WoW comes out I'll be thrilled. If it doesn't, yeah that'll really suck. However, it's clear there's some really heavy pain as you put it, and I wouldn't want a book to be forced through that pain.

Rizzie You people are vultures. Leave the man the fuck alone. You don't DESERVE any books from any author. The dude has lost 6 close friends in less than half a year and all you can think about is your stupid fantasy world. Get a grip. Get some empathy. Get help.

Mar Vieites I don't know him in person, but if I were in his situation, I'd be so fed up with you guys being a pain in the ass about WoW, that I would have set the draft on fire years ago.
Do you understand how creative work goes? I bet a big part of the block he's probably suffering comes from the HUGE pressure you all put on him. Can you just let the man live and write whatever he feels like writing? Or do you want him to publish a piece of crap that feels forced and uninspired? Did you forgot that books are created by people and not by fucking machines?
I mean, the guy is here talking about the death of several of his life-long friends and there you go, BUT WHAT ABOUT WoW?? YOU'RE NEVER GONNA FINISH IT? BUT I WANT IT, I WANT IT NOOOOW
