Every Disagreement Does Not Require War
I have been in many wars in my life. There was the Louis Vuitton Massacre in which my best friend scratched up my new car while taking her suit case out of the trunk even though I predicted it and told her to be careful. The punishment: I didn’t talk to her for two months because although she offered to pay for repairs she refused to see, and I quote “MY point”.
There was the murder on BURGER KING HILL when I told my baby to stop throwing my half eaten sandwiches away without asking. Later she tossed a Whopper I was looking forward to that had been in the fridge for three days (yuck) because she thought it was trash. The punishment: I gave her the silent treatment for a week because and I quote “SHE FAILED TO SEE THE ERROR OF HER WAYS”.
Then there was the war due to THE CASE OF THE UNTIMELY RETURNED CALLS (before cell phones and texting) in which my beau at the time refused to return my call in what I deemed to be a timely fashion. The punishment: He would reach out and I wouldn’t return his phone calls until days later. His punishment: He got tired of the weird shit and dumped my ass.
After many battles, as I got older, I learned what real war was. Not receiving my royalties after writing three books. Being physically and mentally abused by my ex-husband. Suddenly it all made sense.
Life is precious and one should never waste time on petty arguments or disagreements. Choose your battles or you will be alone. No one wants to be around an evil person. Shine your light 90% of the time and those who truly love you will walk with you even in your darkness.
