What Members Thought

I really enjoyed this book. I'm so glad that I read it. It makes you feel a little bit of everything. If you haven't already read this book, I have one question for you: what are you waiting for?!

You are going to die.
That's the first thing Marcus Zusak, with Death as his narrator, tells us in this beautiful, devastating story. Inevitably, any story of Nazi Germany is going to be dark. This story is no exception, but Zusak reminds us that there were also kids joking, swearing, and playing soccer; and good, average, everyday people who decided to do the right thing even as evil consumed their world.

I've read a lot of good books lately, but none come anywhere remotely close to The Book Thief. This book has tunneled its own special place in my heart and there it will stay.

I liked the book a lot.The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the ending is really sad.Liesel is one of the best characters I have come across. The narrator has very beautifully depicted the innocence of a child through her.I love the friendship between Liesel and Rudy, the way she learns how to read while painting on the walls, the harmless pranks.Hans is the best-straight out of a fairy tale book.I wish it had a fairytale ending too! Many instances in the book remind you snippets of

One of the most moving books I've ever read. A classic which I will definitely revisit time and again. Highly recommended to the young adult reader and adults ofball ages. A masterpiece!

One of the best books I have read this year.
Three things I liked about the book:
1. It's narrated by Death... and Death isn't as grim as the humans.
2. The main protagonist, Leisel, is relate-able. I am drawn into her, her life and her thoughts.
3. It resets me. Finding pleasure from a feather caught in hinges of a church (present #6) serves as a good reminder to keep in check :)
