2025 review
One of my friends was rereading the Queen's Thief series (she's read it several times), and as we were talking about it online, I realized I was starting to forget some little details. (I've only read the series once so far, with my first read being in 2017-2018, which has been about 8 years ago now!) Soooo, I decided it was high time for a reread.

It was very interesting rereading the first book again, now that I know what happens in the future for these characters and what the big

2023 Review

As y'all can probably tell from the sheer number of times I've read this book, The Thief is one of my favorite books. It has pretty much everything I love in a book: adventure, idiot boys who get themselves into trouble, witty banter, an epic quest, an exploration of a unique world, random mythological stories woven throughout the larger narrative, and a bit of mystery. This book has a lot going for it, ya know?

And the series only gets better from here.

This book serves as the perfect

What can I say???? This is an excellent YA read. It's not too old for most youths of I'd say 12 and up, younger if they are advanced readers... Of course today's advanced readers are the competent readers of 20 years ago, but we won't go there just now.

Back to topic...neither is the book too young for adult readers. The plot's a good one and the characters are well done (view spoiler)

"I didn't really care much about anything..."

Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt about this, uh, "thrilling" journey.

It didn't seem so bad, once I switched it to being my bedtime reading for two reasons.

First, Steve West, narrator of the audiobook, has a very relaxing voice. Perfect to fall asleep to. I didn't need to worry about missing too much because there was the handy tool, Sleep Timer. The second reason being that the pace of the story is agonizingly, excruciatingly slow, made even more p

The story itself was interesting and I enjoyed the plot twists, but sometimes the dialogue felt strange and I couldn't envision what the characters looked like. ...more

This book was a slow read. I had to really motivate myself to read it at first. But that trick ending with all the surprises at once. Everything came together and I was impressed in the end!

3.5 stars... a lot of world building and intro in this book, got really good after the half way mark. Quick easy read. Looking forward to Queen of Attolia book 2!” Which, I have heard, is fantastic.
