Out of the nearly half a million ratings on this book, I was not in synch with the majority of them. The heroine was one I disliked intensely with her push pull game playing, everything that I despise and the hero was psychotic spoilt baby.

I didn't understand what about this book captured so many hearts, than I realised its all about timing and Jamie McGuire was most probably ahead of her time when this was published. I can't say that definitely but it's my theory to explain how popular it seem ...more

I was so confused after reading this book, is this for teenagers? or not? The writing are plain (straightforward sentence structures, simple vocab) making this book a breeze to read through. But the vulgarity and sex (but not in the erotic category) in this book are abundance, hence not suitable for teens. Not to mention other negative elements such as fighting and gambling.

It wasn't because I became obsessed with the book that drove me to finish. It was more like what was going to happen next.

This story was an interesting read. I enjoyed it despite the roller coaster it has put me on. I feel like I was in a tennis match with this book as well, and it's quite frustrating when I am the tennis ball. It's hard to decide whether I like the book or not.

I wonder, is this YA novel, or is this not? The writing and feelings are very immature but then there's other elements such as sex, fighting, swearing, gambling. I was really confused and bewildering confused especially at the END of this story.

It was a good story. For YA. But I still don't get all the hype. There were a couple of really good scenes but all in all it wasn't as exceptional as all the reviews made it out to be. The story had a good pace and it was well told. Both character and relationship development was well established. I liked the strength in the secondary characters. It was an easy but interesting young adult love story. It was probably about 40 or 50 pages too long as written, and could have stayed at the number of pages if we would have been able to get a little more into the minds of the characters. This beautiful couple really puts the "fun" in dysfunction! Wow. I liked it, though. I liked it the same way I like watching reality tv and watch stupefied as people make horrible decisions and completely mess up their lives. And be completely self-absorbed.
