When news broke last week about the United States' withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, I took comfort—as I've done many times since last November—in an audio recording of one of my favorite poems. This time, it was Wendell Berry reading "The Peace of Wild Things". Personally, it inspires me to action. And I imagine that many of my fellow citizens across the country are looking for literature to both take refuge in and take actionable inspiration from.

Since Counterpoint's earliest days, the press has been committed to publishing writers who honor and explore the delicate, essential relationship that human beings have with the Earth. We're proud to offer an extensive backlist that celebrates and urges the preservation of "the peace of wild things." I've gathered together below a small selection of these books, in the hopes they might resonate with you and your communities in the present moment.
