message 3: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne I too love J R ward Black Dagger Brotherhood read the first two in two days can't wait to get my hands on Lover Eternal to find out more about Zsadist OMG Joy oh Joy

message 4: by Melanie (new)

Melanie JR ward , Gena showalter , karen marie moning and christine feehan are the best paranormal romance writers ever ....just finished the 6 books by JR Ward on the Black Dagger Brotherhood can,t wait for Lover Avenged and Gena showalters The Darkest Wisper will soon be out OMG lol

message 5: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca I'm itching to remove all the urban fantasy series from that list, and the other books that don't qualify as paranormal romance.

Laurell K. Hamilton, Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, Patricia Briggs, Kim Harrison, and Kelley Armstrong are all urban fantasy.

Diana Gabaldon is historical fiction.

Anne Rice is horror, I believe.

But none of the above series qualify as a romance novel. There is no happily ever after at the end of each book.

And there are multiple books by Sherrilyn Kenyon listed, none of which are the first book in the series.

message 6: by Pjnorton75 (new)

Pjnorton75 I have to agree with mylady! There are a lot of books that really belong to another genere. Sorry:(

message 7: by Annie (last edited Aug 17, 2009 10:37AM) (new)

Annie Sex and the Single Vampire (Dark Ones, #2) by Katie MacAlister This is part of Katie Macalister's Dark Ones series.

message 8: by Shaelyn (new)

Shaelyn Thomason-gonzales J R Ward Black Dagger Brotherhood series...OH HELL YEAH!!!

message 9: by Nadia (last edited Oct 26, 2009 03:36PM) (new)

Nadia I agree with mlady_rebecca & Pjnorton75, most of the books in this list are not Paranormal Romance, no matter how good they are, they just don't really fit this category.

Take for example, City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare is urban fantasy, there is just a bit of romance in it, but the book is not really about that.

message 10: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

 ♥Lynn ♥ I am love them all!

message 11: by Benjamin (new)

Benjamin I love these books!

message 12: by Maloup (new)

Maloup The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward is awesome! Can't wait for John Matthew's book to come out mid next year...

Lara Adrian and the Midnight Breed series are my favorite!! Awaiting anxiously for Kade's book next month.

I've also read Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld series and enjoyed it very much.

Currently, I'm reading Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole. So far so good!

message 13: by Adam (new)

Adam Shiver was so much better than Twilight.

message 14: by ♥Lynn ♥ (new)

♥Lynn ♥ I just finished Shiver last night and I LOVED it!!!! Such a great werewolves book!

message 15: by Maloup (new)

Maloup I forgot to mention Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. Great series!! :)

message 16: by Adam (new)

Adam Beastly, Shiver, and Graceling are all notvery well known great paranormal romance thataresoooooooo much better than Twilight.
If you like paranormalromance but no Twilight, then lokup my list- YA PArnormal Romance ThatIs Not Twilight

message 17: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina I don't see it listed but I am going have to go with the L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress Series. I think that that series is better than J.R. Ward's BDB series in alot of ways. The romance is good but it also has a great story that connects throughout the series and you read more than about the initial hookups but also about the further development of the main characters relationship as they face the villians in battle together. Its an awesome series.

message 18: by Jacquelyn (new)

Jacquelyn Bella+Edward OR Bella+ Jacob.

Which one

My answer : Bella+Jacob
Reason: I don't know. I just think they are better together......

message 19: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca mlady_rebecca wrote: "I'm itching to remove all the urban fantasy series from that list, and the other books that don't qualify as paranormal romance.

technically fantasy lover was the first in the series yet she developed the plot and characters more throughly in the next book and those to follow.

message 20: by Paola (new)

Paola Bruscato is there a way to save lists to go back to them later? im new to this site and i wont remember wat it was called in the morning lol.

message 22: by Nicolle (new)

Nicolle Jr Wards books are awesome x cant get enough of them :) <3

message 23: by Qylie (new)

Qylie There are some duplicates in this list, anyway to remove them.

message 24: by Pr!ya (last edited Dec 26, 2010 05:03PM) (new)

Pr!ya I love Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan and J.R. Ward!
In that order often times...

message 25: by Lizzie (new)

Lizzie What happened to the "first book in the series only" rule? I'm seeing a lot of sequels!

message 26: by Qylie (new)

Qylie I wish other people could go in a prune those books out.. the ones that are duplicates or sequels. It makes the list less useful

message 27: by Jan (new)

Jan Allright.
I deleted all sequels and so on from the list, which went from 6 pages to 3.
I'm not a good judge on what is UF and what PNR, and I think it often shifts during the series, so I didn't delete on content.

Hope the list is more useful now, and that people will vote with the rules in mind.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

twilight is top book i want to read all these

message 29: by Sher (new)

Sher Just found this web site and I love it.... might have a little addiction to reading... cant believe that I have read that many... just finished Pleasure Unbound and the rest of series by Larissa Ione I LOVED IT!! YUMMY!! Now my to read list has grown!!

message 30: by QuotetheRaven (new)

QuotetheRaven "Halfway to the Grave" is on here twice..

message 31: by Jan (new)

Jan Deleted all duplicates

message 32: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Nalini Singh, JR Ward, Keri Arthur and Jeaniene Frost are the authors I've discovered last year, on same time and I am enjoying "very much" reading them.

message 33: by Ariana (new)

Ariana Limin I love Jr Ward's books!

message 34: by Niobe13 (new)

Niobe13 Shiver is great..Better than the second book actually. I've read almost all of the dark hunter series by sherrilyn kenyon. Fantasy lover is the best. I am starting to read the black dagger brotherhood and i hate to admit i love the dark hunter series more (no offense to JR ward fans out there). Man, 'tis a lot of books to read especially if you have the tendency to shift from one genre to another.

message 35: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series for the win!

message 36: by Pjnorton75 (new)

Pjnorton75 I love Shelly Laurenston's books!! Haven't read one that I wanted to put down before I finished it. Going way over on my NOOK allowance this month buying them all. I think my fav so far tho is "Go Fetch".

message 37: by Beth (new)

Beth Anita Blake Series for the Win! Can't do better than her crazy world or her strong female self!!!!

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

mlady_rebecca wrote: "I'm itching to remove all the urban fantasy series from that list, and the other books that don't qualify as paranormal romance.

I didn't know there had to be a happily ever after to qualify for the romance genre. No wonder I don't read much of it......how boring as its so predictable! Its a wonder there is a series if that is the case. Who wants to read the same thing over and over again? hmmm, guess I do as I love Twilight.

message 39: by Breanne (new)

Breanne Tiger saga all the way :)

message 40: by Lee (new)

Lee Face ewww why is twilight number 1...lame

message 41: by C.C. (new)

C.C. for me Black Dagger Brotherhood is number one, followed by Night Huntress and Vampire Academy

message 48: by Aestas Book Blog (last edited Aug 26, 2011 12:20PM) (new)

Aestas Book Blog AMEN!!!!! lol

My top 5 are:
1. Black Dagger Brotherhood ... my fav books were Zsadist, Wrath, Rhage, Butch and Rehv's
2. Night Huntress... Bones. 'nuff said.
3. Dark-Hunter (and Dream-Hunter/Were-Hunter included) ... my favs are Acheron, Jericho, Fang, Zarek, Kyrian, Sin... oh boy, I'm not really narrowing this down lol
4. Fever Series (although they are completed and maybe not exactly your typical romance, but with a male lead like Barrons I feel it has to be in this category)
5. Twilight... i know, i know... and i realize its YA but it was the first paranormal book i read and got me started into the genre and for that i love it

looking forward to
Midnight Breed
Lords of the Underworld
Demonica
Argeneau Vampires
Otherkin
Immortals after Dark

among many others :))

message 49: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Whoa whoa! I don't know about Twilight being up first, but I think this list should've been separated into young adults and adults.

message 50: by Felicity (last edited Aug 28, 2011 01:50AM) (new)

Felicity Heaton There's a heck of a lot of repeats on this list when it says list only the first book, and lots of stand alones or books that only have 1 in the series so far, and lots of books which aren't paranormal romance... which sort of makes the list pointless as it's clearly not being moderated.

ETA: Although, I do appreciate readers adding my books, most of the ones they added are stand alones / first in the series with only 1 book in it so far. The only one of my qualifying according to the rules is Prophecy: Child of Light (Vampires Realm, #1) - I like to play by the rules.
