What made you decide to write about the struggle for LGBT rights? Is there a person or influence in your life that made this topic personal for you?

It is hard to pin down one particular influence, I suppose. There are a lot of people in my life -- ever since I was a child -- that have lived within some definition of the LGBTQ community.
There are countless beautiful love stories to be told regardless of the gender of the people involved. Personally, I'm excited by telling and reading stories of people who don't often get their stories told in such a mainstream way.
