Goodreads asked Karen Marie Moning:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Karen Marie Moning I think Steve King said 'read, read, read and write, write, write.' I would also add 'keep your butt in that chair.' I often think the biggest difference between an unpublished writer and a published one is dedication and commitment to the craft, hunger to communicate and the discipline to keep pursuing your goals despite criticism and rejection. I have a binder full of rejection letters and considered each one affirmation--proof that I was trying, being fearless, chasing my dream. You have to do your very best work and put yourself out there, whether self-publishing or traditional. When you chase a dream, the universe conspires to help you get it.
