Absolutely. I often say that if I wasn't a health journalist and novelist, I would be some other type of writer; I've been drawn to it as long as I can remember. As you eloquently say, there's something really satisfying about structuring words to convey meaning.

I started reading the book because I thought it was true, because I had read another author's account of a near-death experience and it did help me with accepting my grandfather's death. Did it start out as a true story?
