Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

C. Dale Young The Affliction began as a single story. But I fell in love with the characters and "the world" of that story, so I found myself returning, trying to see the story from different angles. And, as a result, I ended up writing more stories. After six years, I found that the stories were really linked and culminated in more than a collection of stories. I then spent two years reworking and ordering them to create a novel out of the stories. I have always been attracted to the occult and mythic stories. I wanted to read something like that with Latino characters. In the end, I decided just to write something like that myself.
