Hey Sebastian, I just completed the Greatcoat series and loved it. In particular I loved how Falcio beat Kest and how Kest beat Cavail. I was just wondering if we are ever going to found out how Ethalia knew Aline's final words to Falcio that she repeated to him the first time they met in book 1? Thank you for your time.
Sebastien de Castell
Glad to hear you enjoyed the Greatcoats! Alas, I can't reveal the specific details of how Ethalia knew Aline's final words to Falcio as this will come up in a future Greatcoats story. I will say that it's connected to the more mystical aspects of Ethalia's order, which has its own roots in the influence of Saint Brigid-who-weeps-rivers as well as to Aline's own spirit.

Hi Sebastien! I hope you're well - just two quick quarantine-induced questions (seeing as I've already reread Traitor's Blade in English and in French!) First, which of your books is coming next, and when? I can't wait but different sites are telling me different things! Second, do you happen to know exactly where to find The Red Lily, because I've not been able to find it on your site. All the best from Scotland :)

Thank you. I understand. I was thinking of the Greatcoats purpose of dispensing justice to those who otherwise would get none and how many stories they could tell? Yes, Michael is very protective of his Riyria characters, Hadrian and Royce and has said that he will write new stories of their exploits as long as readers ask for more or until it feels that Riyria have said all they can say.

Hi, Sebastien! The Greatcoats tetralogy has often been discussed as part of the grimdark subgenre. Do you consider those books as grimdark and do you think there's something about "The Greatcoats" that makes it different from the classics (say, Abercrombie's First Law series)?
