Goodreads asked Justin Kaiser:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Justin Kaiser Can't say I'm experienced enough to be giving advise, but one thing I have found very useful, is the ability to act. Acting, or pretending to be someone else, gives you insights into how different people behave or respond to situations. When you learn to do this, you can then apply it to your characters and basically be acting through the written word. If you can learn to truly pretend you are those characters, rather than just their descriptor, their dialog, actions, and general character will become more genuine.
