What is the main source of drive when you're writing? Where do you normally write? What is the book that you enjoyed writing the most? How do you deal with writer's block?

Hi, Halee! I will do my best to answer these questions. My main source of drive? I guess it depends and varies with every book I write, but usually my main source of drive is the excitement I feel about the story and the connection I feel with the characters. I am excited just to write it and flesh it out. Deadlines are also a big source of my drive! As well as my readers, who write to me and say they can't wait for my next book. :-)
I normally write sitting in an armchair in my study with my laptop, next to a window, with a cup of hot tea sometimes. :-)
The book I enjoyed writing the most? Probably The Healer's Apprentice or The Princess Spy, or possibly a book that has not been published yet, a book set in 1880 Alabama called Magnolia Summer.
I deal with writer's block by either brainstorming with a friend to figure out what is supposed to happen next in the story, or even skipping the scene that is giving me problems and coming back to it later. But I rarely ever have true writers block.
Hope that answered your questions! :-)

When you were starting out, when did you know you were ready to start publishing? Did you finish a few practice books first? Do writers ever feel ready? I want to publish, but I'm starting to always finish and say, "This is just a practice book. I'll never publish it," because I'm scared it's not good enough. I'm scared I'm not good enough. How did you know you were ready to try?
