Janae asked Melanie Dickerson:

How many publishers did you go through before you found (or got excepted) by the one you are with? -I'm doing some writing myself and my dream (Lord willing!) is to get my stuff published someday.

Melanie Dickerson Hi, Janae! Getting published can be a really difficult task! After I wrote The Healer's Apprentice, it took me two years to find an agent who would take on me and my book, and another year and a half after that before it was accepted by Zondervan. In total, I got 32 rejections from agents and publishers. Getting published is usually harder than writing the book and takes much longer. :-) However, there are some people who get published right away, but that's the exception, not the norm. But don't give up. Keep persevering, no matter how long it takes, if you know that you were meant to be a writer. During those three and a half years I was trying to get published, I revised the book many times and wrote two other books, so just keep working hard, learning all you can about writing a great book, and praying for God's favor! God bless you!
