Have you managed to keep up on teaching and scholarship while writing your novel? If so, how? It seems like this would be a difficult thing to balance!

It is a difficult thing to balance. But it helps that I am passionate about both of my "jobs" so that working long hours is not usually a chore. And I try to take good care of myself along the way--getting as much exercise and sleep as I can. It's something that we can forget, but the flight attendants are right: put on your own oxygen mask first!
