Kinda like Christmas then? Like, the whole big meal and family gathering things?

Pretty much, although there are no presents... Unless your birthday is around then and your family is too lazy to have two gatherings...

The only part that's like Christmas is the family gathering and piles of food. Thanksgiving isn't all that great... But if you have a fantastic cook in the family, it's pretty good :D

message 206: by [deleted user] (new)

Ugh! I never thought that I would ever be jealous of Americans...but between reading books and hearing all about your Halloween and Thanksgiving and stuff.....

I think I am on a jealousyoverloadofwhycanthatnothappentomemylifecouldbesomuchmorefunithinkishouldrelocatemylifetoamericaandhavesomefun.....

message 208: by [deleted user] (new)

Nah, we don't get a holiday for Melbourne Cup, but they do let us watch it at school...it's not the same though :( - but yeah Anzac and Australia Day, I guess :)

message 209: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) Ah but Australia Day's during holidays anyway :(. But there is cricket on that day!

message 210: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah :D and all that lamb that Sam Kekovich makes us eat... ;D not that I don't mind !

message 211: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) Yeah our American friends miss out on Sam Kekovich and lamb that's for sure ;P

message 212: by [deleted user] (new)

Tons (for me anyways). Lots of family comes up from all over the country, we have all this delicious food (turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marsh-mellows...), and usually everyone goes around the table and tells everyone something they're thankful for. *shrugs* That's my Thanksgiving in a nutshell.

message 216: by [deleted user] (new)

LOL, all the delicious food is totally delish:)

What about grandfinal day? All my family come together and have a party (true, then we have to be quiet while the football's on, but whatever). The food's usually good!

I'm at work like every day, that's why. And my moms on bedrest, so I have next to no extra time to sit down and brain storm and then write. And I'm smiling as I'm saying this, do not read in annoyance cuz it ain't there. I'll try to write some this seem though if I get the time.

And in regards to the baby, thanks y'all for the congrats lol. In answer to the questions that I only just discovered existed lol, 1) yeah, really big age gap, I'll be 19 years older O.O, 2) don't know if it's a boy or girl, mom and dad have never done that lol and they weren't making this one any different. I like it to b a surprise too, makes it even more exciting. :)

But you're in North America as a continent!

I'm shocked by those saying they don't like lamb :O

message 223: by [deleted user] (new)

What? I was traumatized by it when I was seven and my dad told me it was chicken. It was not chicken. Now that I thin about it my dad tried to make me eat a lot of stuff by telling me it was chicken (squid, liver, tongue...).*shudders* I was smart enough to know better.

True... North America is over-rated...

I'm okay with lamb, I just don't like this weird mint-stuff my dad eats with it...

I really don't like seafood much at all, but I love fried, breaded calamari, especially with the spicy dipping sauce.

But squid is yummy! You people make no sense sometimes...

Katara: Is your picture Korra??? I saw an episode of "...Legend of Korra" and it was AMAZING! I've been trying to find other episodes since, but alas, no such luck...

Ok, Im glad to hear people haven't abandoned me. I just wanted to make sure people were planning on writing; I don't care if they take some time.

Oh, and anyone who doesn't like squid deserves to be strangled by a giant one :P Calamari è molto bene :)

message 231: by [deleted user] (new)

Squid is nice :) I prefer calamari though.

Emily wrote: "Squid is nice :) I prefer calamari though."

Squid and calamari are the same thing. Calamari is basically just deep-fried squid.

Really? I always thought that they were the same, but someone who I assumed knew what they were talking about, told me that they were different..obviously I have yet again put my trust in the wrong person :(

not oysters. They make me want to puke just at the sight of them!

Jonathan Terrington (thewritestuff) Scallops are nice though...
And fish is nice (I had so many different types of fish on a cruise and it was great)

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) Can we post fanfiction in this group as well, or just writing that's completely our own?

message 249: by Roxanne (new)

Roxanne Shriver (roxannexshriver) Also, can we have more than one thread, or does all of writing have to go under one topic?
