Jim | 21809 comments They look amazing!

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Some of the people hadn't done much of this kind of thing before so it was good to get them to take part! They did a good job despite their nerves.

message 2103: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments They're fabulous, Lexie. Terrific colours.

message 2104: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments They're beautiful patterns. The same designer has now produced a Noah's Ark - very tempting!

message 2105: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Oh that does sound tempting! I bought Janet Bolton's book on making a Noah's Ark quilt (Mrs Noah's patchwork quilt) cos I just love the pictures!

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Just found the link:

I love his work.

message 2107: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Mm, have to say I'm not tempted (thankfully) Lexie. Not my style I think. That's saved me a load of money! Mind you, I'm heading for the Quilt Festival at the NEC next week, so I'll be spending all my spare pennies there

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments A mixture of cake and crafting - what could be better!

Karen, the Noah's Ark quilt should be relatively simple, it's only two-by-two after all ...

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Very good, Gaff!

message 2111: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Ha ha indeed, Gaff!
And I love that cake, GL. Far too good to eat. Nah, no cake looks that good... Tuck in.
Managed to spend virtually all my pennies at the NEC quilt festival today. Soo many things I didn't realise I needed. As one lady said, we aren't hoarding fabric, we are curating it.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Find any good ideas for your Noah's Ark?

message 2113: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Unfortunately I have plenty of ideas for a Noah's Ark - it's just the time I could do with buying! I've already dug my heels in and told my other half I am not ironing his stuff any more... he's coping. Grumbling, but coping!
I've got an alphabet quilt on the go, all designed and drawn up, then the wedding happened, so I'm still only on 'C'

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments The tapestries are gorgeous Lexie.

message 2115: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Thanks - it's taken a bit of tweaking to get them to hang straight, but let's just say I've learned a great deal from the experience!

Now trying to knit a cardigan and a jersey in time for Christmas. Jersey looks complex but isn't causing problems, cardigan looks simple but I just keep making mistakes!

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Aaaah!! Cross stitching for the first time in a looooong time!! Forgot how hard it is with 3 strands!! Enjoying it though :-)

message 2117: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments What's the pattern like, Emma?

message 2118: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments https://www.goodreads.com/photo/group...
I started it over 2 years ago for my cousins first child!! She now has two so I am going to try to put both of their names and dob on it!!
I had the urge to stitch this week so am hoping I will keep going til it is finished else the boys will be teenagers before it is done!!!

message 2119: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Ha! I was wondering how you were getting on with that Emma! I still haven't finished the one I was working on either.

message 2120: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I love doing it but it is so easy not to, if you get what I mean!! Hadn't realised it had been so long since I last picked it up!! Has to be at least a year!

message 2121: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I might have done a little when Kitty was really tiny but I'm too tired in the evenings now and I prefer to colour in instead...

message 2122: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I have an adult colouring book too!! Have rubbish pencils though so need to get some more

message 2123: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I like my stadtler ones, I got them on Amazon

Mine are the same make, it is more the colour choice I don't like so just need to get some more for more choice else I get bored!!

message 2125: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Yeah, I'd like a wider range of colours too 24 just isn't enough

You need at least 50 shades of grey...

They are amazing!!! Not sure I can justify £50 odd on colouring pencils lol!! I could try and say I would take up my sketching again but not sure I would!!

message 2130: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Lol, I know. £50 is a bit steep

they'll probably keep it with the stone of scone

message 2135: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I suspect a Dan Brown-type conspiracy, given the subject of the panel ...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Yes, probably been swiped by the Rosicrucians.

message 2137: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Managing to find a bit more time to get on with the ABC quilt I started a while back. I've just done H for Hippo. Last night's quilt group was good - we had Annette Emms as a speaker - and she brought pairs of the fairy shoes (and elf shoes) she makes... 2.5 inch long, beaded and hand embroidered. I showed some of the pics to my Other Half
http://www.annetteemms.co.uk/gallery_...
He couldn't see the point! Bless.

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments My word, they're lovely!

message 2139: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments We noticed the Christmas fairy ones yesterday... guess what I now want to do for the Christmas tree! Not that my sewing/embroidery skills are up to hers.

message 2140: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Everyone busy crafting for Christmas? I don't seem to have finished any of my projects this year (apart from the Little Village wall hanging) and I know I'll have to make a start on cards very shortly. Anyway, I did have a lovely time at the NEC last week and bought lots of sparkly card ready for action!

message 2141: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments Was doing a cardigan for someone, lovely silky grey wool, simple pattern which for some reason I just couldn't get right! However, that's been put on hold and I'm concentrating on a thick sweater for someone else, and a little hoodie for a toddler (great to knit something small for a change again!). Had a series of hand injuries so I had to prioritise! The Noah's Ark tapestry has been requested by the church so that is on the frame but nothing has been done with it yet - I'm thinking maybe Easter (but I'm not saying which year!). I've delegated most of the card making, thank goodness.

message 2142: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Not something I've crafted but something I've seen. A chap I know has taken to making biros in his retirement. You buy a kit which contains the metal bits and the refill and you then hand turn on a lathe a wooden sleeve which replaces the plastic you get on a pen you buy

I've traded a couple of them for books so we've both got 'different' Christmas presents to give :-)

His pens are nice, they've got a little more weight than the plastic ones you buy and feel nicer

That's different - and sounds lovely.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments My sewing machine comes back today!!! (unless they turn up after 5)

I'm so excited!! I have to make a Little mermaid costume for the 28th I have the fins sorted but need to fashion something for my top half! I'm hoping Primark will have long sleeved tan coloured tops

message 2145: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Love the sound of the Little Mermaid costume!
and those biros, what a great idea.
Apparently it's now 5 weeks to Christmas, so I think I might quietly start panicking.

message 2146: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It isn't quite working out to plan... The material wasn't the right sort for leggings so I am in the process of making a skirt instead.

message 2147: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments A mermaid skirt? Something fishy about that if you ask me

message 2148: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Conyngham | 1297 comments I thought so too, but then the scales fell from my eyes ...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments There's a fishmonger in Dubin which has the slogan 'If it swims, we sell it.' I always want to go in and ask for a pound of mermaid...

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Or sewage.
