Connie Silent Night/All Through the Night: Two Christmas Novels by Mary Higgins Clark

(This is a great book to read when you can't take holiday cheer a minute longer.)

Mickey (liongoddess) | 470 comments Somebody Is Going to Die If Lilly Beth Doesn't Catch That Bouquet: The Official Southern Ladies' Guide to Hosting the Perfect Wedding by Gayden Metcalfe

Having grown up in the South, I can attest to the fact that a LOT of this book's contents are accurate!

Connie Breasts: The Owner's Manual: Every Woman's Guide to Reducing Cancer Risk, Making Treatment Choices, and Optimizing Outcomes by Dr. Kristi Funk

(As I wrote in my review of this book: I hate that I had reason to read this, but am glad it was available. Dr Funk presented the information in an easy to understand manner and helped to alleviate A LOT of anxiety in the process. )

Connie How to Boil Water: Life Beyond Takeout by Jennifer Darling

(this is a great cookbook for beginners, and others. I gave a copy to my stepson when he got his first apartment...liked it so much I got myself a copy.)

Mickey (liongoddess) | 470 comments Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore

I love Christopher Moore! THIS book got me kicked out of a gaming session- I was reading while my character was out of action, got to the whale sex scene (you'll just have to read it and see) and totally lost it.

Connie The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore

I'm in total agreement, Mickey!

(This was the first Moore book I read and I was hooked.)

Mickey (liongoddess) | 470 comments Family Game Night and Other Catastrophes by Mary E. Lambert

This was a good YA read. Girl tries to deal with her family falling apart due to her mother's hoarding AND keep it secret from the rest of the world.

Mickey (liongoddess) | 470 comments The Space Hero's Guide to Glory by Nick Hurwitch

Silly but fun.

Ted, Celia Rivenbark (from post 7958) lives in my hometown. I met her several times at events when she was writing a column for the local paper. Super nice lady with a wicked sense of humor! And yes, I own all of her books. LOL

Mickey (liongoddess) | 470 comments I loved Heroics for Beginners! also this one:

A Fate Worse Than Dragons by John Moore

Connie The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury

(Recent editions of this collection of connected short stories have been edited, aka "censored", but the earlier additions--1950s thru 1980s--contain what I consider my favorite scifi story. "August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains" was inspired by a WWI-era poem written by Sara Teasdale. The poem and the story have had profound impact on me.)
