How was that zombie anthology? I got it free the other day, sure you did, too. I just got Dr. Sleep! I am forcing myself to wait until I finish everything else I am reading first.

Lol yea I did. It was good, a couple of the stories were blah but most of them I really enjoyed.

Jordan (dabink) | 20 comments Currently reading What Makes You Die by Tom Piccirilli, got it as a FirstReads giveaway. Not sure how well I like it, but it's definitely well written....

This is turning out to be a pretty good book. I'm over halfway done, and really want more reading time right now.

Reading Sinner.

message 456: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) I've started two books recently. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer and Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. The first one because I was at home and didn't have anything else to read. The other one because I've been curious about it for a while(and a friend gave it to me). I think it's the same high school vampy stuff as everything else, but we'll see.

message 457: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I think I have four that I am really focusing on right now:

Doctor Sleep (The Shining, #2) by Stephen King , Oryx and Crake (MaddAddam Trilogy, #1) by Margaret Atwood , John Dies at the End (John Dies at the End, #1) by David Wong , Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco

I actually read the whole vampire academy series last month and really liked it, but then YA paranormal is my favorite genre.

LOL! Those are just ones I plan on finishing this weekend, but I have quite a few more going. I haven't added them all to my CR, though:

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) I finished Peeps (Peeps #1) last night, now I'm on Goliath (Leviathan #3).

message 465: by [deleted user] (new)

Still reading Sinner (Paradise, #3) by Ted Dekker but made some really good progress today.

message 466: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments I'm reading both Doctor Sleep (The Shining, #2) by Stephen King and Clown Tear Junkies by Douglas Hackle . They're very good thus far.

Yeah, I enjoy the genre too, but there is something about VA that I don't know if I really like

message 468: by Dustin (new)

Dustin A Dance With Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin and Rage's Echo by J.S. Bailey

message 469: by Jason (last edited Oct 07, 2013 02:01PM) (new)

Jason Parent | 69 comments Ah, Dustin, A Dance of Dragons answers some questions but raises so many more... Read it slow. 2015 is a long time to wait for answers. :)

message 470: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments 2015? You're being optimistic.

message 471: by Jason (new)

Jason Parent | 69 comments very true.

Rick Shepard Michelle (The World is Quiet Here) wrote: "I'm reading The Gates (Samuel Johnson #1) by John Connolly."

How far along are you Michelle? Addy and I just finished this as a buddy read, and really enjoyed it.

message 474: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) @Rick I'm almost halfway through. It seems to have gotten better once the book got past the footnote-heavy stage. I just discovered your buddy read thread when I started this yesterday! LOL. Too little, too late, huh? haha ;)

message 475: by Scott (new)

Scott I recently finished The Well of Ascension and today I finished Doctor Sleep.

I have no idea what I'm going to read next.

message 476: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Seaberg (cricketseaberg) | 241 comments Working on Doctor Sleep. Then I have like 37 other books on my 'currently reading' list (if I just have them in my 'to-read' list, they get lost - these are the ones I really want to get to quickly!).

message 477: by Lina (new)

Lina (booksnotlovers) Currently reading Switched by Amanda Hocking. And let's just say that I'm glad that I'm borrowing it. It's not terrible. But I feel the same way about it as I did with Vampire Academy. Rushed, but still very slow.

message 478: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) I've been reading Nocturnes by John Connolly. Some stories are better than others, but mostly I like it. :)

message 479: by [deleted user] (new)

Just started The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath yesterday. Wow, I can't believe I haven't read this before! Excellent!

I have Bell Jar, but haven't read it either. I love her poetry.

message 482: by [deleted user] (new)

You ought to read it Rick. It's pretty short.

message 487: by Rick (new)

Rick Shepard Cindy wrote: "You ought to read it Rick. It's pretty short."

Actually, I'm going to write it in for November. I have a huge collection of books I need to try and work my way through by the end of this month.

message 488: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 47 comments I'm reading Ghost Story, which I can't put down. The book is so different than the movie. I am really enjoying the book. Peter Straub writes like Stephen King.

I'm also reading The Graveyard Book, which is also pretty good.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book Valerie. (view spoiler)

message 490: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 47 comments I just finished The Graveyard Book. I really enjoyed the story and like you Rick, I am also impressed. I just wished there was more to the ending.

message 492: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished Coyote Medicine and The Bell Jar. Still reading The Casual Vacancy and plan to start Skin tomorrow at work.

message 493: by L. Leah (new)

L. Leah | 1 comments I just finished Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell; and I am so glad I fell for the hype. This was a great YA read for me.

message 494: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (patn76) | 60 comments Reading some short stories. Picking up Screamscapes and The October Country. Putting down the tomes. Plan on reading King's On Writing. It's waiting on my shelf right now. I want to go pick up The Shambling Guide to New York City. The sample was pretty good. I like listening to the author's podcasts.

message 496: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Hey Patrick, Screamscapes rocks. You should try Toes Up as well. (Shameless Plug, sorry).

message 497: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (patn76) | 60 comments I've read a couple of stories and loved them. Just had to put it aside due to lack of time. Would love to read your work Adam. Are you doing NaNoWriMo?

message 498: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Honestly, Patrick, I just had to look that up! I am in the process of writing a manuscript, but I had never heard of that.

message 499: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (patn76) | 60 comments Honestly I just learned of it. I guess assumed published knew about all of that stuff. Btw, just put Toes Up on my wish list on Amazon.

message 500: by Patrick (new)

Patrick (patn76) | 60 comments How do I edit on the iPhone app? I guess I assumed published writers--including self-published--knew about all of that kind of stuff. I learned of it from Mur Lafferty's podcast, I Should Be Writing. Anyway, do profit more from the print edition, because the Kindle edition is dirt cheap.
