Angie | 623 comments I'm finishing The Wasp factory and The High Lord by Trudi Canavan, plus a couple of other things. I'm trying to get them finished so I can add some February group reads.

message 704: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'm just about ready to start Drood our February read. And I'm starting Dracula prince of many faces his life and his times as part of another group read.

message 705: by [deleted user] (new)

I am playing catch-up at this point. Really want to finish Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons . Also, saw a book at the library I couldn't resist. I love books set in the 60's and 70's. Started Loss of Innocence by Richard North Patterson today. It should be a quick read. Would definitely like to read at least one of the group reads for the month, but need to get a job also. We'll see how the "pain management", job search, and reading can intermingle this month. Not gonna stress over it. Have enough stress right now.

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments Malina wrote: "Just starting Horns by Joe Hill, very excited!"

It's good!

message 708: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Horns is a big favorite for me, and surprisingly my wife loves it, too.

message 709: by [deleted user] (new)

I look forward to reading ALL of Joe Hill's books before I die. Love his style.

message 710: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC Joe Hill rocks!

message 711: by Malina (new)

Malina I loved NOS4a2 and Heart Shaped Box, so I'm really looking forward to this one!

message 712: by Tika (new)

Tika (capungjendela) | 1 comments I'm currently reading Winnetou by Karl May. My mom bought this 4 or 5 years ago and I read few chapters then many things happened and I didn't continue reading. Now I read from the start again and it's good.

message 713: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Have finished Insurgent today. I will post a review tomorrow too tired today. Have started reading Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness which is the second in the Chaos Walking trilogy. Has picked up right where the last one left off and so far I am enjoying it greatly.

message 714: by ☆Joycedale☆ (new)

☆Joycedale☆ | 307 comments I loved insurgent! I'm almost finished with allegiant. I liked the knife of never letting go but not enough to continue with the ask and answer.

message 715: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've not even got Allegiant yet! I saw them in the book shop last week but ended up buying Marina and fear and loathing in las Vegas instead. I'll get round to them at some point.

message 716: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Nearly finished with the excellent Tim Curran book Skin Medicine, and taking little bites of Joe R Lansdale's short story collection, High Cotton.

message 717: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments Just started Chiliad: A Meditation by Mr. Clive Barker.

Angie | 623 comments Adam wrote: "Nearly finished with the excellent Tim Curran book Skin Medicine, and taking little bites of Joe R Lansdale's short story collection, High Cotton."

Is the Tim Curran good Adam? I've only read Dead Sea but I've got Hive as an eBook. I'd like to read more so which would you recommend I go with?

message 719: by Dana (new)

Dana ****Reads Alot**** Malina wrote: "Just starting Horns by Joe Hill, very excited!"

Loved the book! But Heart-Shaped Box andNOS4A2 were his best. In my opinion.

message 720: by Angie (last edited Feb 04, 2014 07:49AM) (new)

Angie | 623 comments I loved Heart shaped box and NOS4A2 the most as well. When I first bought it I didn't know if it would be good, and I have read it about 5 times now! His Locke and key graphic novels are awesome.

message 721: by Malina (new)

Malina I liked NOS4a2 the best, but I also enjoyed Horns, maybe more than Heart Shaped Box

I'm currently reading The Demonologist, The Demonologist by Andrew Pyper so far it has a Dan Brown feeling about it...

message 722: by Sam (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Have just started reading The Thorough Check It has one of those really amazing covers that you can't help but pick it up

message 723: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Angie, I have read Dead Sea, Skin Medicine and Headhunter so far. All 5 star reads, in my opinion. Headhunter is a novella, so it was real quick, and Skin Medicine was 276 pages. Either one is worth your time, or both! I believe they are both lendable, so if you want to borrow, let me know.

message 724: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments Currently reading Where Darkness Dwells - Glenn Krisch, and Jos Lansdale's High Cotton. Having to ease up on reading and writing today as both my vehicles decided to break down at the same time. Lots of fun!

message 725: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'm trying to get some more of Drood read. My son is in the middle of moving back in with me. He's just out of work and is finding it hard to find a new job. He is going to do his heavy goods vehicle licence as this will let him apply for driving jobs.

message 726: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I have Drood and love Simmons, but that book is not one I wish to tackle right now. I am really dnjoying the short stories of Lansdale in High Cotton... he is a funny and brutal dude.

message 727: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Stood is such a long book and I'll probably take a couple of weeks to finish. I'm reading Blood Meridian on the never ending buddy read as well. I got Hyperion yesterday, have you read Simmons SciFi? I haven't and I'm wondering if its as good as his horror. It was in a 3 books for £5 deal so that's why I've got it.

I love short stories but I feel that I've not read any for ages.

message 728: by Nikki (new)

Nikki I have Hyperion on my Kindle waiting to be read...lol.
I have not read Dan Simmons before.

message 729: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I haven't read any Simmons Sci Fi, but the fans love it, and I cut my teeth on allthings horror and science fiction so I will undoubtedly give it a go sooner or later. Thinking os reading The Twelve for my next hefty tome.

message 730: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I am pretty sure I have the Hyperion series on Kindle.

message 731: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Adam The Twelve is so good, its on my favourite books list. I'd read it again if anyone wants to do a buddy read of it. It seems that since reading Carrion Comfort if always had a Simmons book on the go. I've got Song of Kali and Black Hills waiting tbr. They only cost £1.50 each so bargain!!

message 732: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I got Song Of Kali and A Winter's Haunting the other day, alomg with The Ignored by Bentley Little and The Toynbee Convector by Ray Bradbury. I have The Terror in my Simmons Stack, too.

message 733: by Adam (new)

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 603 comments I will read The Twelve with you Angie. I need to finish High Cotton. It is so good.

message 734: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments I am currently reading Dead Beautiful (Dead Beautiful, #1) by Yvonne Woon did not realise it was about Zombies when I started it, (not encountered any yet thankfully) but it's really good so far :)

message 735: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I love zombies Emma and a couple of months now on Facebook there was an event were lots of authors put their books up at reduced prices. I got 15 books for £10 . Some of them are really good as well. Do you not like zombie books?

message 736: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments No Angie not really. This book might change my mind you never know. I set up a Zombie discussion page yesterday, on All About Fantasy, if you want to want to discuss zombie books with other people who read them :)

message 737: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I'll go and have a look at that Emma:) my son nick thinks I'm obsessed by them

message 738: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments Currently reading Hope for the Wicked. I'll just say dude's got some balls, but not for the reasons you might expect.

message 739: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments @Gregor, that's looks quite good. Hope you enjoy it.

message 740: by Gregor (new)

Gregor Xane (gregorxane) | 106 comments Emma wrote: "@Gregor, that's looks quite good. Hope you enjoy it."

Oh, I am. I'll likely finish it tonight. I'm a bit past the 80% mark.

message 741: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC I'm really down on zombie books these days. I'm convinced they've ran the horror genre into the ground.

message 742: by Malina (new)

Malina I don't like zombie books, give me vampires, witches ,werewolves!

message 743: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Ye I much prefer magic :)

message 744: by ✨Susan✨ (new)

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 19 comments I agree. Paranormal and magic over Zombie any day.

message 745: by Emma (new)

Emma | 96 comments Saying that I am currently reading a zombie book, (didn't know when I started it) I havent met any yet though and I am loving it, might change when the zombies appear though.

message 746: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I like everything lol. Nick my son says it makes me very easy to buy for. About the only thing I'm not to keen on is crime and I've never read a mills and boon!! But fantasy and horror with SciFi are my favourites.

I like werewolves over zombies, and vampires like Anne Rice vamps not the sparkling types, which are just ridiculous. But I'll even read crime if it sounds like a good story.

message 747: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments I've just added the way of kings to my currently reading list as part of a buddy read with a couple of friends. Its ready for when b.2 turns up! Only 4 weeks to go. I can't wait to read more about Kaladin and Syl:-)

I'm confused. Are you re-reading Way of Kings?

message 749: by [deleted user] (new)

I am currently reading Stormbreaker, Carrion Comfort, and our own Adam Light's Serving Spirits. Have gotten a little behind again the last couple of days because of the job applications, trying to sell anything we have of value to get money, and my interview today (which was promising).

message 750: by Angie (new)

Angie | 623 comments Carrion Comfort was my first ever Simmons book, even though I had a paper copy of The Terror that my son had got my as a Christmas present. I've since read quite a lot I love the way he built up the story. I'm enjoying
Drood by the same author and I'm reading Blood Meridian on the never ending buddy read mainly with Chuck and Sean. They both seem to come up with a pretty good selection of books.
