I'd like to join this challenge even though I'm a little bit confused already even after the examples. Maybe it's the reporting or something.

Basically I go to P&P, check your main shelf list and count off how many shelves P&P (1st five pages). That number is the score for the one book. Next book, repeat process but cannot count the shelves P&P took. So on and so on.

Lyn - Might I have a spreadsheet sent to me? I'd love one!

Does everyone know that they can't start reading until August 1st? Any books you are currently reading don't count, right? Just want to make sure everyone is on the same page. Pun intended.

I have a book in my currently reading category but I haven't cracked it open beyond the first page. I hope to count it for August (cause I plan to actually dive into it then).

The other one doesn't :P Graveyard Book I *plan* on finishing before Friday. It's really funny so far!!

I hope that's ok rule wise?

Lynne is right that books can be counted once they are started on August 1st. Anything that has already been started beforehand would not count.

I'm the same as Tanja. I have 2 books in my "Currently Reading" but I am holding off on one of them until Aug 1 (it is for another Aug challenge as well). The other I will likely have finished before then.

You can start the book tomorrow, but you cannot be finished with it until August 1st or after.

whew that makes it very tedious to go thru every list to see if it's on our official list and then check and see if it's on the first 5 pages of that goodreads list. Goodness gracious I better get started deciding the books to read.

Angie, just remember that you can't actually check off the shelves until the book is completed. If you preplan, the shelves listed on the first 5 pages may change by the time you actually read the book. make sense?

haha Funny that was my next question, what if they change before we finish the book and it's no longer on the first five pages? Does it count if it was at the start of the game?

I've forwarded the spreadsheet to Jennifer and Sally. It's Excel2007 version, so hope it works. Anyone who wants 2007 version spreadsheet can pm. your email to me. But be patient, I'm in a quite different timezone.
