Team Anubis

Victoria, for your questions ~
When does the challenge start? Yes, 1pm central is correct, 2pm EST. GMT is 6 hours ahead of you.
When will we know the team goals? They haven't specifically said, anywhere that I have seen anyways, but I assume they will start same day and be automatic with our spreadsheet. If not, then it wouldn't be long.
Do I have to post here if I participate in the BOM discussion or post which group I am in on the BOM discussion board? Please post here at Anubis if you are participating in a BOM, that way I can mark it down. It'll be easier for y'all to say "hey, I'm doing this BOM" then for me to look around and see if you are.
Do I have to do every day to get 20 points for the team or is it 20 points per day I post? It's only 20 points once. As long as you have been active inthe discussion (answering the questions) then it will count.
Anyone else reading Child Thief? Not me, but I don't read books everyone else is reading. I just did the Choice Awards and could only vote on one book because that was all I had read. A few are on my TBR, but less than 5.
Hope this helps?

Hmmmm, no one particular beginner book, but it depends on what kind of erotica you are looking for. If you want to dip your toes into some light BDSM then I do recommend, as a beginner book, what I recommended for Cristina ~ Club Shadowlands. It's BDSM, but the lighter side of it, more about the sensual stuff, than the hardcore stuff.
If it's just erotica you wanna try, without the BDSM, I'd have to recommend something by Lora Leigh, Elle Kennedy or Bella Andre. They have (I'm not sure about Bella) some bdsm stuff, but you can find stuff without it just to give the erotica a try. Perhaps the The Callahans series by Lora Leigh, the Out of Uniform series by Elle Kennedy or the Hot Shots series by Bella Andre.

Seems like we've been planning for months, not weeks. :)
No, no particular format. In fact, you don't even need to tell me when you've completed a book. As long as you add your book to the shelf you created for the challenge, the spreadsheet wizard (AKA Kelly) has made it so that your books are automatically listed! It cut down a lot of work.
The only things I'll NEED from y'all are ~
- make sure you are placing books you've completed, after you have completed it, onto your TT shelf
- Let me know if you participated in any BOM and what one. If you do a BOM and can link to the discussion, great, if not, that's fine too.
- Let me know if you've written questions for BOM. They only take 1 person per team for that, and not many, so get on that quick if you want to write questions.
- Let me know what book you've completed covers what goal. One book, per goal, we will have 5 goals at a time, a new one arriving soon after one is removed.
For goals I suggest (and we can change this, if y'all would like to) we only use books that have been completed, not books we plan to read. This should allow us to get through more goals. For example, say member "A" reads a book a week, while member "B" reads a book a day. If member A wants a particular goal, we'd wait a week to get a new goal. While member B could have finished that goal and gotten a more for us. Does that sound alright to y'all?
If you've completed a book, and it didn't fit any goals at the time, keep it in mind. As more goals arrive, y'all can let me know if the book that you had previously completed, but we never used for a goal, can fit a new goal.

oops, should've told you. I participated in the discussion questions for the child thief yesterday.

It's amazing to me how they do this so that it calculates the points based on the page number of the books! So awesome!
Our NBRC Mods are just great. They are Super Mods!!!
I'm going to start off with a heave hitter - Fall of Giants, along with some smaller ones. I'll probably have about 3-4 going at once :)

Morning y'all. How is everyone today?
The mods definitely are amazing, they do so much.
Wow, that is a heavy hitter, jingles. My longest I'll do during this is 824 pages, I'm sure most people will start it next week when Winter is released.

Just for a little about myself, I am a student. I love to read but don't get to as much as I would like. I live in Portland, Oregon and a large part of my chatting will happen while I am aboard public transport, going to and from class. I also like to swim, hike and cook.
I'm a little behind on my reading goal. Hopefully, this challenge will help me bust it out!
Hey Jingles
I noticed on the BR thread that Gea and Kelsi are starting the Century Trilogy on the 7th if you want some company!

I'm working on adding some books. I'm bad at planning ahead, but I'm wait listed on a few and have some in my closet waiting to be read.

Thanks, Karen!
And thanks so much for the link. Gea emailed earlier about it, so I'm very excited to be part of a buddy read for this long book.
I'm on my way to check in with them now :)

Nah, I don't think reading in class is bad, Cristina. :) Might as well have fun. :)
It's finally getting here! Seems like it's forever. Trying to decide on what shorter audiobook I can listen to that I'll finish up Fri night. Wanna listen to something, as it helps me fall asleep, but wanna finish it up so I can start fresh on Sat. :)

I have put all reading on hold. I'm getting my studying done for next week, a paper written and some chapters read. I'm hoping to have it all done so I can just read a bunch this weekend!!

Day 1 Questions are Message 78 on pg 2:

Day 2 is Message 110, Day 3 is Message 112, and Day 4 is Massage 114 on pg 3:

I am planning on participating in the other two BOMs this month: Pretty Girl and Six of Crows.

A puppy fell into our laps today! No, really. A puppy was running around outside, no collar. So, I brought her in.
It's not a lock that she'll stay, we have a pitbull who isn't liking her so far, but the pit adapted to kittens, so it'll just take time.
In the mean time, I'm around, but might not respond right away like usual, until we get into a routine. I'm here, just trying to not let her use the bathroom in the house and chew on everything. LOL! She appears to just be 8ish weeks old, so it is calling for lots of supervision.
Don't worry, I'll still be reading, I'll listen to audiobooks if I have to. :)

I don't wanna give her up, I think she's adorable and she's got a wonderful personality, but it's just really not something we can easily do. We're hoping we can find a place for her. :(

I also wanted to mention I'll be doing the BOM for Six of Crows. No DQs, just participating.

There's only one shelter near here, I don't know if it's no kill or not. I don't think so. :( We don't even have a car to take her there. If we don't find something in the next day or two, and/or it gets worse with both dogs, we'll have to see if our landlord will take her over to the shelter. Don't wanna do it, she's great, but it's just too much.

When the challenge opens up, they will be unlocking the books read thread. I typically don't worry about y'all posting there, as I'm on top of stuff.
This time, I'm going to go ahead and ask you to post there. You'll find the thread here ~ Anubis Books Read. If you can't or don't have the time to update it, don't worry about it at all. Only do it if you can.
No set format, just please include the following ~
- number of pages
- date completed
- goal it fits (if any)
- if it's a BOM you are participating in
- if it's a BOM you wrote questions for

Less than 24 hours to go! Remember, only books started after 1900 GMT on the 7th count for the challenge.
Countdown is here
IMPORTANT Don't forget to have your special shelf created.
If you can't remember the name that you put in the sign up, just create a new one and post the name to this thread so your captain an update the team spreadsheet
A specific thread has been set up for teams to post read books to here

I am on the wait list for Six of Crows, and my name is coming up! I'm really excited to read it!

Ok, onto the nitty gritty. In addition to our open goals being on the spreadsheet, I'm going to keep them current on post 7. That way, if you don't like spreadsheets or can't access them easily, you'll always be able to see the list of our current goals.
I'll post everything relevant in post 7, so if you get in the habit of checking it regularly, you'll know what's going on, even if we get chatty and stuff gets lost in the midst of chatter. There will also be mod stuff posted in the first 6 posts, so keep your eye out there too for group wide stuffs. I'll keep post 7 for our group type stuffs.
Any Questions, comments, concerns?
Go ahead and all of you post to let me know you saw this message about stuff being in post 7, that way I know everyone saw it when it may get lost in the shuffle today.

What was too much in the bdsm books, Cristina? 50 wasn't bdsm, though it tries to portray it very badly as such. I'll check out what you've read in it beyond that (nothing I have) in the morning.
