Nargus and I are reading Heart of Darkness together in June. It is a very short book, so might fit in to even a busy schedule. If anyone else would like to join, we would be delighted to have you!

I can do that one too. :)

Brina I am looking to read Gone With the Wind over the summer- mid June thru mid August when I'm not on a school schedule- and would like to read about 100 pages a week. Looking for anyone who would like to join me thanks!

Great Zoe...we'll see you there.

message 107: by Brina (new)

Brina If no one is interested in Gone With the Wind due to length, I'm also interested in buddy reading Dr Zhivago. Let me know if you're interested.

Iní (ini6) I would definitely be up for that in June!

message 117: by Brina (new)

Brina Thanks Ini looking forward.

message 118: by Philina (new)

Philina | 1085 comments Who'd be interested in a buddy read of A Game of Thrones? Or the whole series if you're up for it ;).
I've kind of given up hope of it ever winning the polls. This month it stands a chance with the start of season six, but I also believe that this is its only real chance.

message 119: by Myst (new)

Myst | 147 comments I really want to read A Game of Thrones. I've had so many 'big' classics so far this year that it keeps getting pushed. But so far June doesn't appear to have any "must read" group reads, but I've got 2 big new releases: End of Watch(496 pages) and Born of Legend (500-700 pages depending on format) so I may try to tackle AGoT in July.

message 120: by Philina (new)

Maybe....but I do have a lot of other commitments so not sure I'll have the time. I have watched all the series so far and have the box set, but still haven't even read the first book! I'll see if anyone else wants to join in and might follow along and be persuaded to read if I can find time.

message 122: by Philina (new)

Philina | 1085 comments I think we'd be really happy to have you!

With me it was the same. I started binge watching - just per chance - when season 3 was out, then read all the books and continued with season 4 as my first season on schedule.

message 123: by Pink (new)

Pink | 5491 comments I watched the first episode of season 6 last night, which I enjoyed. I'm not sure how I'd feel about the books having already watched the series. It isn't my usual genre, as I'm neither a fantasy or historical fiction reader. Hmm, I'll have to see. When are you thinking of starting?

message 124: by Ciera (new)

Ciera (cfree7) | 124 comments I watched the first season of GOT then went back and read the books. The first book I honestly think is the most important to read because there are certain detials that may be important later that did not quite come through in the show.

message 125: by Philina (new)

Philina | 1085 comments I don't know, really. I'd be ready to start any time! So the ball is totally in your court.

I'm not sure if there is any most important book. They all contain so much depth and details. Besides, I'd be careful with the first one, because when Martin wrote that he had planned a completely different series. So there might be foreshadowing which will never (fully) realise itself.

Oh, I didn't know that about the first book! I just thought Ned's chapters were interesting concerning Jon. (Don't want go give any theories away!)

I would like to join. I have started but it is my goal to finish it this year. The buddy read would be great!

message 130: by Brina (new)

Brina @ Holly and Cosmic- my kids get out of school for the summer June 17. Does a June 20 start date work for you. I'm aiming for 100 pages a week. Would love for you to join.

message 131: by Holly (new)

Holly | 31 comments June 20 works great for me! thanks for including me:)

message 132: by Brina (new)

Greetings Nathan! I too read On the Road a number of years ago. I really enjoyed it at the time, but haven't read anything by Kerouac since then. I'd be willing to read Big Sur, and am also flexible on the start date. How about mid to late May?

message 134: by Bat-Cat (new)

Bat-Cat | 986 comments I have just been working on organizing my reading life (as best I can) for the next couple of months based on the latest election results and have decided that I very well may not have the time to participate in the group read of The Woman in White ( much to my chagrin). If I end up getting through my books faster than I imagine ;-) I will definitely jump in. I just wanted to let you know so that you weren't counting on/ expecting comments from me. Happy reading and good luck!!!

I hope to participate, but probably start reading somewhere middle of this month :)

message 137: by [deleted user] (new)

That's okay, Bat-Cat! You're so sweet. Like Ciera said, feel free to jump in when you can! :)

Yes, I'm keen on reading it. I don't want it to be a very interrupted read - this week is busy, but hoping to pick it up soon!

This is the no-spoilers thread, with my little comment indicating the May Buddy read, and my excitement for it, haha (btw, it has arrived - nice bumpy feature on the cover too): https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Of course Brina! I have to finish my finals this week and move into my apartment. But next week I will be on vacation and hopefully start it!

message 143: by Brina (new)
