I had a hard time with Shatter Me too. It was not my favorite.

Kelly | 75 comments I finished MILA 2.0 (MILA 2.0, #1) by Debra Driza which I really enjoyed. I loved the action! I also just finished The Crown (The Selection, #5) by Kiera Cass which I found a little disappointing. The last 1/3 of the book was really good but the rest of the book was a little slow.

I finished Talon (Talon, #1) by Julie Kagawa which I liked because of the missing fantasy vibe :P
I've started Girl Online On Tour (Girl Online, #2) by Zoe Sugg and of course Girl Against the Universe by Paula Stokes

Haha I can assure you TKONLG is nothing like Shatter Me, they are extremely different. They're both dystopias but the similarities end there. :D I understand wanting to mix things up though! Hope you enjoy TKONLG when you get to it, it's one of my all-time favorites. :)

I am enjoying it. :) I had to put it on hold because A Court of Mist and Fury A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2) by Sarah J. Maas came in at the library and there are no renewals and it's a tome!! lol But I am 200 pages in and pleasantly surprised at how hard it is to put down. I felt only so-so about the first book. This book is so much better...

OK, good to know in terms of setting my expectations. Though I think I'll be fine because I just finished a 900-page book that was a little slow at times. 450 pages will seem to fly by!

Sooo, I'm halfway through Walk on Earth a Stranger (The Gold Seer Trilogy, #1) by Rae Carson . I like it and am definitely invested in the story. But, like some others, I don't love it. My biggest issue is how many coincidences there are. I also am not feeling the emotional connection to the MC I think I should considering what happened to her. Something is just not quite clicking. HOWEVER, I am enjoying the journey aspect of it, particularly the historical fiction. I also like the concept (her "gold magic" is the most compelling part of the story). And some of the writing is really beautiful, as well as witty. So overall it's been worth reading for me, even if it won't make my favorites shelf :) :) :)

I think the historical aspect was what did it for me! I knew that the journey was tough but wow!!! I had never really read or seen how tough before. That's what I took away from this book and why I loved it!

Ditto, Karen. I really loved the historical aspect of it! To be honest, I didn't even need the fantasy element to love it, but it was cool and different! The pages flew by in this read for me!

I actually read it while I was on vacation in Arizona. We were so tired at the end of the day and too busy to read much, so it did take me all week...otherwise I think I might have read it in a single sitting!

message 597: by Elora (new)

Elora Mitchell | 449 comments Just finished UnWholly (Unwind, #2) by Neal Shusterman UnSouled (Unwind, #3) by Neal Shusterman and UnDivided (Unwind, #4) by Neal Shusterman

I wasn't sure if I was going to read any of these after I finished Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman , since he had intended this as a standalone. But I didn't have anything left on my shelf from the library, so I picked one up. Amazing! If I hadn't known that it was only supposed to be the one, I never would have known after I read the sequels. The world was fantastic, and he delved even deeper into the ethics of unwinding and seeing more sides of the issue and how people tried to justify their actions. *shivers running down spine now*
