At the moment, I'm looking at May 2018.

That picture also features the Wikipedia article about the Tyburn and I so had to laugh when I looked it up the first time. I had just finished RoL and had BA's characterization of Lady Ty in mind and then I got this picture... it was just so hilariously ironic.

carol. | 551 comments I think she'd definitely be cross. So ... mundane. Suburbanified.

carol. | 551 comments A very interesting interview with Ben:
"I worked hard on those lies."

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments I read that interview. He is good interview value.

message 109: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments He's kind of a nut :) All over the place.

message 110: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments He is. Nuttier than a squirrel in spring some days. :D

Fred | 14 comments The comics series from Titan books is progressing well. The current issues are called Detective Stories. This set of issues is fun, "done in one" stories that look at individual characters.
The trade paperback/GN is due 11/22
The next series has also been announced to start in November. Cry Fox - it's supposed to pick up right after The Hanging Tree

message 112: by carol. (last edited Sep 05, 2017 07:42AM) (new)

carol. | 551 comments Thanks for the update! I was tempted when I saw them for cheap electronically.
I'm a bit bummed, because I think these will likely be a 'pass' for me. I just don't care enough to buy hard copies and I only have a black-n-white ereader.

message 113: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Good to hear on the progress of the Detective stories.

message 114: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments I've discovered my local book store buys all the compendium issues, and I love the first 3, so I will want the others for my collection.

message 115: by Fred (new)

Fred | 14 comments They may be worth a look at the library. Black and white would not do for them!

message 116: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Ben tweeted this literally a minute ago:

"Abigail's signare came out more memorable than I was expecting - we won't be seeing that anytime soon."

So Abigail is definitely being taught magic by Nightingale!

message 117: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Yay! Abigail’s learning from Nightingale!

message 118: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments BTW Ben's updated the book chronology. We have LOTS to look forward to.

message 119: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Happy, happy, happy! :)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Lata wrote: "Happy, happy, happy! :)"

Including two outside the main stream. A Nightingale story and a Roman one!

message 121: by Mark (new)

Mark | 38 comments Thanks for the good new Margaret, I've updated the series' Wikipedia page to reflect the new additions!

message 122: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Not sure where to stuff this observation, so I'll pop it in here.

I happened to wander onto Kobna's imdb page. Was surprised to discover that he was in Doctor Strange last year. He played Strange's physical therapist after his accident. It's unusual for actors to work together on projects a lot, but that was three things with Benedict Cumberbatch he worked on in two years. The others were a scene from Rosecrantz and Guildenstern are Dead for the National Theatre 50th Anniversary, and he was Laertes to Benedict's Hamlet in the Barbican production of 2015.

message 123: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments I saw Dr Strange, and don’t remember Kobna in it. Either his scene was super short (blink and you’ll miss him) or it was cut. I’ll have to check out that section of movie again for the Kobna sighting.

message 124: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Probably super short, though, all attention would be focused on Benedict Cumberbatch in that scene.

message 125: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (1stavenue) | 75 comments Just popping in to let everyone know Gollancz is having a big, UK-only sale this weekend. There are over 50 titles and they're all going for 99p. Rivers of London is one of them.

Other notable mentions:
Retribution Falls
The Blade Itself
Altered Carbon
Flowers for Algernon
Revelation Space

You temptress. Thank you.

message 127: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments The first part of the graphic novel Cry Fox is out today. Carol, we need a new thread! :D

message 128: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Heh. Not getting as much love for the graphic novels :) But I'll set it up. On that note, there's a title for book 7: "Lies Sleeping."

message 129: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments I love the graphic novels. I'll be getting myself the Detective Stories compendium edition as a Christmas present to myself. :)

message 130: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Fun! Merry Christmas, you!

message 131: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Oh yes. Last Christmas my present to myself was The Hanging Tree.

message 132: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments A Ben Aaronovitch is for life, not just for Christmas.

message 133: by carol. (new)

Lata | 371 comments Lol! Too true, Margaret.

message 135: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments This is news about Kobna rather than the books.

He's been selected to play Ike Turner in the Tina Turner musical at the Aldwych theatre in London starting in March 2018.

message 136: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Wow! Good news for Kobna :)

I'm thinking about it. I'll be staying within walking distance (for me) of the theatre.

I might wait and try for last minute tickets depending on how knackered I am on a given dayl

message 139: by Mark (new)

Mark | 38 comments According to Ben's twitter, Lies Sleeping is now due out November 2018 as opposed to June.

carol. | 551 comments Thanks for the update!
I'll be honest. I can't remember if I said this earlier, but I kind of hate the graphic novels for distracting him from full length work.

I'm with you there--not a fan of graphic novels myself and they seem to be a big distraction for the side project. However, I wouldn't mind a few more shorter stories like The Furtherest Station.

message 142: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 113 comments Anyone taken a look at the RoL Chronology lately? If I'm not mistaken there are a few new Graphic novels and novellas inserted.

"What Abigail did that Summer" and an other yet intitled Tobias Winter (Who was that, by the way?) novella between "Foxglove Summer" and "Furthest Station".

One yet untitled Agent Reynolds novella after "Hanging Tree".
One Graphic novel titled "Water Weed" before and one graphic novel titled "The Fey and the Furious" after "Lies Sleeping".

message 143: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Yes, I noticed the extra novellas and comics. Good news!

IIRC, Tobias Winter has yet to be mentioned yet in the main series. He works for the German equivalent of the Folly, the Abteilung KDA. He appeared in this (very) short story: http://temporarilysignificant.blogspo...

message 145: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Ben was asking a ton of questions on Twitter about various German issues (place, words, etc), so I'm not surprised to hear there will be more about Tobias.

Focus, Ben, focus. ;)

message 146: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Hmmm, I’m looking forward to when we’ll see Tobias in book form.

Ah, thanks for the link. Interesting little story. I think, I love it for the "Cobra 11" reference alone (My favourite book series meets my favourite guilty pleasure *lol*). And now I'ld really like to know, what exactly this agreement is.

Tobias has some similarities to Peter, though. Same dry, slightly sarcastic tone. I think, they would get along nicely.

I'm not sure they do. He's said on a number of occasions that he likes to have 3 or 4 projects on the go at the same time. That way if he hits a wall, he can write something else until he's worked out why the other thing wasn't working.

There are also two novellas outside the timeline. One is a Roman one, the other a jazz age one starring Nightingale.
