Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Guys, get to the Goodread Giveaways page ASAP. All four graphic novels are being given away. The giveaway ends in just under two days.

Get in quick, maybe someone here will get lucky!

message 152: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Thank you, Margaret. Just submitted entries for the getaways. (Though I've never won anything on goodreads before.)

message 153: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments You're welcome, Lata. I've won 3 or 4 books over the years. Haven't entered these as I already have them all.

message 154: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments More Kobna news.

He plays a character named Father Emery in an English movie being released in April. It's a horror movie called "Ghost Stories".

message 155: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Carol... it's beginning to look like we need a thread for Kobna. :)

message 156: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Oh heck, yes! Where we can sing that man’s vocal talents :)

message 157: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments I could creat a thread if the other mods agree.

message 158: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Go for it!

message 159: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (1stavenue) | 75 comments The Furthest Station is currently on sale for $2 on Kindle (US). I don't know if this is a daily deal or not since there's no end date. Maybe that means it's a month-long sale. Anyhow just wanted to let everyone know in case you haven't gotten this book yet.

message 160: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Picked it up, thx Mimi!

message 161: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (1stavenue) | 75 comments You're welcome :)

message 162: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Just been browsing Ben's website. Another forthcoming work has been added. Another one outside the main sequence. Called "At a Distance" but no clues as to which characters it involves.

message 163: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments I'll go with.... the American.

message 164: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments I want him to write a Nighting gale book about Ettersberg. Though it would be a horrific book.

The Nazi's built on the site and renamed it Buchenwald.

message 165: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments A Nightingale book would be great, but like Carol says, I think it’s someone like that.

message 166: by Mark (new)

Mark | 38 comments Action at a distance looks like a graphic novel, rather than a novel(la). I cannot wait until Lies Sleeping!

message 167: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Me either, but I'd settle for Kobna reading Furthest Station ;D

message 168: by John (new)

John Doe | 37 comments only just came across this interview with a timeline

http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/ben-aaro...

message 169: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie (ronnieb) | 170 comments Hmm... I note the timeline graphic doesn't include the short stories.

message 170: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments I see what you mean, Ronnie. I assume the timeline then covers just the bigger points. Though Aaronovitch’s site lists the stories in chronological order.

message 171: by John (new)

John Doe | 37 comments the real nugget in the interview (for me at least) was the little update on the TV series - written and submitted to BBC for consideration. wonder if they'll use Kobna for Peter Grant...meta...

message 172: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Hmmm. So Varvara is in Cry Fox. Goody. I like the Night Witch.

message 173: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie (ronnieb) | 170 comments Ok, since a TV series is - apparently - in the very, very, VERY, early stages of production, how about a new thread where we can post our own cast lists?

message 174: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Sounds good. Let me add one shortly.

message 175: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie (ronnieb) | 170 comments No hurry. :)

message 176: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lyn37167) | 20 comments Just finished The Hanging Tree and starting on the graphic novels

message 177: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lyn37167) | 20 comments Now I've got to wait until June

message 178: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Just keep re-reading, Lyn. :) They never get stale.

message 179: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Lyn wrote: "Now I've got to wait until June"

lol! If Ben doesn't push it back ;) But as Margaret said... I end up re-listening. :)

message 180: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments And we've got the graphic novel compendium "Cry Fox" before then. That's due in May, I think.

message 181: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (1stavenue) | 75 comments To those who've read graphic novels: how important are they to the main sorry arc? Would I miss anything if I don't get around to reading them?

message 182: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie (ronnieb) | 170 comments They're more like "side stories" than part of the main plot, you don't have to read them.

So far, there's only been a passing reference to them (specifically "Black Mold" I think) in "The Hanging Tree".

message 183: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lyn37167) | 20 comments I saw that reference, makes me want to read them more

message 184: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Agree with Ronnie; there are occasionally passing references but I feel more on the one-line variety. I don't know that one would always pick them out, because Ben also is fond of referencing events that haven't happened/been described.

message 185: by Mark (new)

Mark | 38 comments Lyn wrote: "Now I've got to wait until June"

Unfortunately, it's been pushed back until November! :(

message 186: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lyn37167) | 20 comments Nooooooooooooo!

message 187: by Lyn (new)

Lyn (lyn37167) | 20 comments Well, there are the graphic novels

message 188: by Mimi (new)

Mimi (1stavenue) | 75 comments Thanks, everyone. I will see if I can find the graphic novels at the library.

message 189: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments We have an official UK release date (which will probably also be Australia as they tend to simultaneous release) for "Lies Sleeping" of 6th November 2018.

Ben announced it yesterday.

message 190: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Woo hoo! North America should be around the same time.

message 191: by Ronnie (new)

Ronnie | 8 comments Hooray! :)

message 192: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Yay!

message 193: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments So... group read November 7th? :D

message 194: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments I'll be starting as soon as I get my mitts on it.

message 195: by Lata (new)

Lata | 371 comments Definitely, Carole.!

message 196: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Why yes, I did just sign up and purchase the signed hardcover for Lies Sleeping... At Waterstones, if anyone is interested.

message 197: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments LMAO. I will wait. Ben is very big here. I will be able to get it at a local book shop on release day.

message 198: by Margaret (last edited Mar 14, 2018 02:22PM) (new)

Margaret (margyw) | 317 comments Another 4 part graphic novel has been announced by Titan.

"Water Weed" starting in June 2018. Chelsea & Olympia are smuggling cannabis! This is going to get very nasty very quickly!

message 199: by carol. (new)

carol. | 551 comments Oh my! Naughty girls.
