Robin Hill (robinhill) | 1528 comments For anyone looking for a politician book, I'm starting The Kiss of Life tonight and it's about a senator. I've only read the prologue so far so I can't give my opinion but the prologue definitely has me hooked!

message 202: by Steph (new)

Steph | 109 comments I updated my list. I don't think I'm gonna get a hundred though. I was looking through the challenge and I don't dig treasure hunts or time travel. So those will probably be left blank.

Yes!!! 😁 I was thinking same thing as it can be confusing. Maybe also change to "yearly" instead of "monthly"?

Leslie | 2430 comments Sorry Ladies, I wasn't trying to be a bragger. 😉

message 213: by Michele (new)

Michele (guilliem) | 2131 comments I'm in there with Leslie - - 26/60...I just noticed Grey is updating our status and couldn't update it on my own...so I assumed I had to post it. Also not trying to be a bragger...I'm not quite sure how I'm there honestly. Audiobooks are a big help!

message 214: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I actually would have had several more if not for all the *bleep* 🤬DNFs. Almost all of mine have been audios.

I'm definitely down for HTWA! I'm obsessed with this author right now! I just have to focus on writing right now but I'll be ready soon.

Question, how can I easily find out if any of the books I've read are published by Penguin Random House??? Anyone know?

I dont think there is easy way to do this and a lot of what we all read is by indie authors. I have googled "penguin random house romance books" to see if any of those titles are on my TBR. Otherwise, everytime I read a book I check to see who pubbed it.

I used something I read through NetGalley...

message 232: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) Jean--I'm using One Day in December because I noticed someone else was using it. But if I needed to use that book for another category, I'd just go to Penguin's website and start perusing.

message 233: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments I used Anne Bishop's Wild Country. Also, Storm Cursed by Patricia Briggs is Penguin. I'm just lucky some of my favorites use Penguin.

message 234: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments Any ideas on Banned books list? The ones that look interesting I've read (or DNF'd in one case). Did you all know at one point, A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstone was banned for promoting violence and disrespect? If I could read that again... :)

message 235: by Nay (new)

Nay (4ukcats) I copied Perks of Being A Wallflower from Robin's list, but I'm also going to look at some of these before I make my final decision and start reading.

I need ideas for banned books too.

message 239: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 1761 comments The Princess Bride book was not banned. Too bad, because if you haven't read it, it's even better than the movie (And that's saying a lot!)

I saw what it was about, and it reminded me too much of an older short story I read. I have a feeling that book is going to put me in the same mood the other did, just angry impotence. :(

I agree! I'm at the point of having to find something that matches and it isn't easy.

message 246: by Jean (new)

Jean | 1658 comments Same here! I'm going to look at others lists here and see if I get some ideas.

message 247: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments I need recs for the following:

Trilogy
Mythology/Sci-fi/Fantasy (this will be TORTURE for me)
Over 500 pages (also torture)
Coming of Age (pleh)
Politician
Tree or forest

Previously abandoned will be hard too because if I ditched it, its 'cause I couldn't get into it.

Anyone who needs help on any categories I will do my best.

I rec Off the Record (Record, #1) by K.A. Linde for politician and its KU.

Do you like Tiffany Reisz at all? I just red The Rose and it is absolutely erotic with a capital E but is blended with mythology which I am a HUGE fan of. It would qualify...if you like her that is...

Of course I recommend that and realize it's not KU...I got it through my library...

message 250: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 2430 comments Michele, I have read The Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz. Oooooh mama! That is not for the faint of heart.

I can check out The Rose as my library has it. Thanks...it might be an option for me.
