Looks like we're organized for the first round, once Paula indicates if she is OK with the last 2 open slots. It's nice having this much time to find our readings. Won't be quite the same for future rounds!

For SZ2 maybe this will work for the task:
something hot on the cover and Lava in the author's name

it has a teapot on the cover (hot?)
and the Author is Laura Esquivel

Looks good to me. The hot is 'open to interpretation', so it looks steaming to me ;-)

LOL! We were so efficient getting the first 2 weeks planned out that it feels like it's taking forever for the start time to get here.

Unfortunately we won't have all this planning time for the next round!

Yeah I got my books ready to go and just saw they put up the countdown to lava clock up. 3 days away! OMG is that dust settling on my poor books? LOL

Eleven hours to go! Ready to read when I get up tomorrow.

I finished up my last book before I went to sleep last night so I'd be ready to go this morning!

So do you think we should just post our completions here and then one person handles the spreadsheet, or should we each enter our own books on the SS as well as posting them here? I'll still track everything in Message 11 either way.

I think we should post completions here. So Cyndee can update above. Each can enter on the spreadsheet unless someone is uncomfortable doing that, then I or Cyndee can enter for them.
I just changed the first 10 entries on the spreadsheet to wrap text, so you can see all the slots to fill in.

If you are not entering on the spreadsheet make sure all the needed info is in your completion post

I don't mind adding my completions to the SS but I only have viewing access. I just asked for permission but in the meantime I have completed one of my books if somebody would like to enter it for me.

I adore Patterson for his short chapters. For some reason I can fly thru his books and it helped alot hubs being at work all day and me not having to go anyplace. I had a luxurious day of reading! Now I am having to stop and cook and wash dishes but my next book is a shortie so probably be done with it early morning. If only hubs didn't want any supper I'd be set! LOL

Darn I got to read a different book for carnivore on cover. Was reading one with a brown bear on front and found out only polar bears are carnivores!!!!

Found one with a wolf on it. LOL grrrrr

There was a countdown clock posted in the Q&A thread last night that says we only have until tomorrow before we reach "0" and have to have the countdown tasks completed. Am I the only one who thought we had 2 weeks, not 5 days?

I didn't either. I'm almost finished with my 2nd and will start my 3rd later today.

Looks like we keep reading the 10 tasks but lose points for those finished after the countdown. Then go on to next tasks and gain points until end of 2 week round.

Ahhhh, thank you! I will have both of my remaining countdown tasks complete in time but it sure did light a fire under me. LOL

I didn't know either, I'll try to finish my countdown books by tomorrow.
I'm sure I'll be finishing one of them this afternoon, The other one is pretty short, so maybe I can finish that one too before the countdown ends.

I'll be finished with my last countdown task in the next hour or so and it wont take me long to read my book for Safe Zone 1. Have we decided which safe zones we gonna try to complete so I know which way to go after I am done with my safe zone 1 book?

We have everything mapped out to do SZ1 & 2 (then SZ3 is easy enough...we can just pick a word to work on when we get to that point) so maybe just do them in order? Or we could do SZ2 before the others since it's worth more points if we complete it?

Paula, which of the countdown tasks are you completing/posting first? I'm wondering if we could help out if there's another book that one of us has read this week that we could use instead.

I have one that I've already read this week that will fit. I'll go ahead and add it. I completely misunderstood how the countdown would work too, so will definitely be changing my approach with the next set too. :) Looks like the timeframe for the 10 countdown tasks will be random with each new substance.

This gives you some burnt feet, I'm afraid. Remember, the rules state (and it is also highlighted in red on the spreadsheet, cell I23) that you can't start reading for the safezone groups until you have completed the countdown stage

errors in the text matching formula. I've fixed that, but that doesn't prevent you from getting singed feet for the pre-reading of safezone books.....

So sorry team. My bad... I misunderstood. I thought once we had completed the tasks we had chosen we could go ahead and begin reading for the next section as long as we didn't complete the book. I do see it on the spreadsheet in red now. I overlooked that. I feel so bad.

How many points did we lose? It does say we can rejuvenate next round (Round 2)

Hmmm...that's a good question. I'm not sure if you've have to choose another one or not. Maybe ask in the Q&A thread as it's monitored more often than the team threads.

I did notice that we receive additional injuries if we start a Safe Zone and don't complete it. I will likely have my Safe Zone 1 book finished by tomorrow evening.

I finished another A book anyway =)
